Most of the Saddle Club books are alike, (our trio of heroines extricate themselves from not-really-so-much-trouble) but this one stands out more than the others. A movie star is involved.

(Sadly, not David Bowie, but anyway...)
The descriptions of how repetitive filming scenes for movies were spot-on. The horse bits were suitably horsey. Yes, this is still a silly kids' book, but it's good for a laugh and a quick, relaxing read, no matter what your age.

There is also a movie dog, a birthday party for Carole's Dad, and Pepper being called "old" for the first time. He only has nine books to live. Garnet is referred to correctly as a mare, then a chapter or two later given masculine pronouns. Not sure if Bonnie Bryant wrote this one, as she thanks Ellen Krieger for "her contribution to this story." Could be kid's book series lingo for "heeeeeeeere's the ghostwriter."

The One Where Pine Hollow Becomes a Movie Set
Skye Ransom is my favorite non-Saddle Club member in this series, and I love every book that features him. This one was no exception. The whole book was pitch-perfect. 4.5 stars.

Pine Hollow finds itself turned into a movie set when Skye Ransom asks for help riding in another movie. The girls had met him before in New York City, where they helped him on another project. It seems as though he would have had an adult instructor prior to shooting scenes with horses, but whatever. These are books for kids, so logic doesn't really have to matter. I am not Lisa's biggest fan, but, of course, she gets a small part in the movie with Skye. This book was meh.

Tak tenhle díl mi přišel strašně vycpávkový a neskutečně nezáživný. Nevím, čím to je, ale jak se hlavní děj točí okolo Lisy, je to vždycky nezměrně únavné.

This time Hollywood comes to Willow Creek and Lisa gets to be in a movie with Skye Ransom. Cute story, and I loved the little side plot of planning a birthday for Carole’s dad. Sweet and simple.

In the nineteenth book in the Saddle Club series, Star Rider focuses on an exciting event at Pine Hollow. Teen heartthrob Skye Ransom is shooting a new movie and they need a horsey set. What better place than the Pine Hollow stables and surrounds?
