Profusely illustrated history which traces the development of life on earth from the first living organisms, several billion years ago, to the rise of human civilization
This is an evolutionary history from pre-Cambrian primordial ooze beginnings onto chapters on plants, fishes, reptiles, amphipians (where are the most complete transitory fossils according to this book), reptiles (of course, but not more than their due), mammals, and man. B&W photos and illustrations augment the text. I particularly like the compact, clarifying pictorial representations showing sepeciation and relative commonality over time.
