What a fantastic story! I love how all the family were in one story and we got to revisit with all of them. The action was non stop. I couldn't read fast enough to see what was going to happen next. The excitement was full force. I never wanted it to end.
My emotions were excitement, joy, angry(at Jake), fear, mystery and warmth for all the love.
This is the best story of all the family, all put together in one book. I love this series and my head is still thinking about this great new story.

Another KLL adventure, or is it?

I thoroughly enjoy KLL's many "adventures" and feel invested in the characters in her books. I love catching up with them and seeing how their lives and roles in the series continue to develop and grow. This book did a good job of evolving the characters.
What I found disappointing though was how this book seemed to have so much filler. What do I mean? Well, one thing that always grabs me (or any reader really) are the details. But this book had details that seemed to meander and serve no real purpose. Many didn't accentuate the scene or the storyline or even add much historical depth. ( I understand character development for new readers but... I guess I wanted those details to make me want to read those character's stories [again], and they didn't). I found myself skipping passages, looking for dialogue, just to get on with the story.
Much of it felt contrived and rushed and disconnected from the author. Which is sad because I feel that her true gift as an author is her ability to weave heart and soul along with intellectual intent throughout each story.
There were moments of beauty and emotion and real connection in this book. Just not as consistently as with her other books in this series.
I almost feel this book was intended to be a narrative or short story to be included @ the end of the last book.
Will I continue to read this series? Yes, at least once more. If it fails to engage me, I'll move on.

Continuing with my re-read of the series!

This is a FABULOUS book! It was so wonderful to visit will all the family members finally all together in one place. And, as always, there is a great mystery to be solved. I certainly don't want to give anything away, but I will say that Jack Mallory's selfishness and thoughtlessness was over the top in this book and I wanted to slap him silly. Jack has been a principal character in the series for a while and his self-absorbed actions always not only complicate matters, he has endangered the "rescue missions" almost to the point of failure. His book is next and it will be interesting to see if he learned anything as a result of his past activities in this book.

I highly recommend reading the first five books in order to really get it and enjoy this book to the fullest. You will love this time travel series.

Sooo frustrating

Ugh! This book was not a good experience for me. I have enjoyed this series except Braham and Charlottes book which was waaaay to long/drawn out. But it was still a good story. But this book was just terribly frustrating.

First off, the premise of this book wasn’t legitimate to me that the family would be called back in time to rescue a girl that wasn’t even related to the family.

But The thing that bothered me the most was the author did not stay true to the characters of Kit and Cullen. In my opinion they were selfish, childish, and totally acted out of character from who they are. I was so annoyed that about halfway through I had to stop reading. I just wasn’t enjoying it and was so frustrated with all the ridiculous amount of crisis that was happening one after the other.

Another major issue was I just couldn’t stand Jack anymore. We’ve already put up with his selfish antics in Charlottes book, and I just couldn’t believe the author hadn’t had him learn his lesson yet after being in a civil war prison on trial for murder.

Normally I would return the book, but because I’ve invested in the series I decided to let it go for a while till I felt like reading again. That ended up being about six months (and this is coming from someone that usually finishes the book in 2 or 3 days).

I finally decided to pick it back up where I left off because I was tired of it sitting in my KU. It got a little better for me after that point. But not wanting to spoil anything, all I can say is I thought Jack’s reaction to what happened to him was not believable at all and against his characterization.

I’ve since read the next couple books in the series and they are better than this one.

Wow! I love time travel but this one is really wild. A hidden message in a painting leads the entire MacKlenna Clan back to 1881 for an unexpected adventure. Jack, of course has his own adventure when he goes to San Francisco in search of a new book. This is just such a full story with everyone playing a role. You must read it. You don’t have to read the first 5 books to enjoy this one but it useful to have the full back story on everyone. Kit and Colin play a central role although not the main characters. It is all about family. From 21st Century Kentucky/San Francisco to 19th Century Napa/San Francisco, the intrigue and mystery is based on historical fact. This series is worth the time it will take away from your daily life. I listened to audible and the narrator, Teri Schnaubelt, is excellent as always.

Oh boy was so excited to have more time with Kit and Cullen. Jack as usually gets into a bind and his infatuation with Carolina Rose makes for a trying time for all the clan. Another awesome book in the series.

Pros: love that all characters are together again. Love the twists of fate. Love how the author gives reader a good sense of each character’s personality. At this point in the series , you feel like you know them so well. And like you’re own family, there’s things that you love and things that annoy you about almost each one. But I love how the author brings humility to each one. (On that note, I hope Jack finally got his head out of his a** after this story!) Love that the younger clan members are being explored. Love the historical aspect.

Cons: I didn’t like that James Cullen’s daddy issues weren’t addressed. He had his two seconds, was saved, then hardly mentioned. Then Lincoln comes along and basically saves his family. No mention afterwards. No “thanks, son!” He’s just hardly mentioned. Also, the whole time I’m thinking…”this kid is my son’s age. Um… what?!” I also didn’t care for ending. It was like climax, then the balloon quickly deflated to end it quickly.

In spite of the cons, kudos to KLL! Storylines are super. I’m in love with the characters and the whole idea of these stories. Basically, I’m hooked!

Great Story

I started reading the Brooches Series in 2015. I quickly "consumed" them through to The Emerald Brooch. Then I stopped until now. (2018). I am an ardent fan of the whole McKlenna clan. I love all the characters, primary and secondary. The unique settings for each story are wonderful. Thank you for the great research and creativity written. The Three Brooches is my favorite right now. I love the time travel, complex plot and the "reunion" through time of the family and extended family/friends as well. I am now on to Jack's story. It's downloaded on my Kindle, but I am taking a "break" so I can get some things accomplished.
I heartily recommend this book to those who love time travel, a love story and the love of family. Just a great read! Keep them coming Katherine.

Everything that can go wrong, does, in this book. And I can't help but blame Jack. He's so selfish in most of the past books, but you can't help but love him and let most of his mistakes drop because he's so charming. But in this book, is like he never learns his lesson from his last fuck up, and he's never aware of how his actions affect everyone else. He is the epitome of selfish and I don't even know if I can forgive him. I know it's cruel to say that he got what he deserved in the end but honestly how I feel. I still love him but in this book I start to actually hate him as well. I hope he can change his selfish ways so I can get back to loving him again. The next adventure awaits...

Ooooooh time travel, romance & intrigue!!!

Ooooooh time travel, romance & intrigue!!!.... And all wrapped up with a bow for this instalment.
This book had so many things going on in it, I didn't know what on earth could happen next!

I did find the conclusion (? Is it really?) of Carolina Rose a tad odd/unlikely /surely there's more to it/her/their story(?) etc...

A very gripping continuation of The Celtic Brooch series... Must say I hadn't read anything by Katherine Lowry Logan before, and am enjoying these characters very much!!!!

I read this book as part of my Kindle Unlimited subscription (free book, but I pay for the subscription)

I am enjoying the entire series. The characters are interesting people. The problems and preparations for time travel are interesting. Of course, it helps that they are extremely wealthy. It is a sure bet to gamble on something when you know the outcome in advance. There is a historical tie-in that makes the story interesting on more than one level.
This is a series that is best read in order to keep the cast of characters and their relationships to one another straight. Otherwise, the reader will find the need to keep referring to the list at the beginning of the book.

Whew!!

Members of the extended family (nine adults - one eight months pregnant, and five children) decide to take a trip together. To the year 1881. What could go wrong?? Of course, a multitude of things can happen. Actually, a medical emergency in the past requires that someone goes and naturally they all want to go. Usually I can't put a Celtic Brooch book down, but this time I needed to take breaks because the story was so overwhelming! I did enjoy having nearly all the characters in one tale, despite the calamities.

Series: The Celtic Brooch, Book 6 of 10

I listened to this book at 1.40 X

So far this has been the best book out of the 6 that I have listened to. They just keep getting better and better.

This book is full of action, adventures, romance, losts of time traveling and all the feels. I loved it.
Looking forward to the last 4 books.

Vocal artist Teri Schnaubelt did another great job. So may characters and accents. Each book adds more characters which means more voices, and its like know problem. 10 Stars out of 5.

Great time travel Series

Thank you KLL for another great story. I love the idea of time travel; first got interested reading the Outlander Series by Diana Gabaldon. Glad to see the gaultlet being carried forward with a great seies. Each character whether reoccuring or new have a great background to bring new life to each additional story. Glad to hear that Jack may still meet his mate. and what maybe in store for JL's brothers. Thank you again.

After book 6 I'm still hooked on these and want to know what next BUT the cast of still involved characters, especially in this book, starts to get so involved that I can't remember who belongs to who. I love that it's a deep world with so many ties, it just gets confusing, especially when new characters are revealed to be relatives of old (this is not a spoiler for this book, just a comment on the over arc of the series).

My heart is breaking for Jack...

Jack, as usual, screws things up. Hopefully, he truly has learned and grown from this experience. He deserves to know the truth. I hope it comes out in the next book. There was definitely a lot of chaos happening in this story. It kept me on my toes. I'm happy that things turned out good for almost everyone. I can't wait to see why Jack finally decides to go after Amy Spalding.

So exciting, I hated to put it down!

I've loved reading the first books in this series. This book does not disappoint! Ms. Logan keeps the reader enthralled in this tale. She's descriptive and keeps the action flowing.

I love how the author weaves in historical facts with her fiction. I'm looking forward to the rest of the series.

Jack!

In this continued brooch saga, I wanted to kill Jack for his continued selfishness! I was so hooked I’d get up at 3:00 am to continue reading until 7:00 am. This sixth book was again heart wrenching and how were they all going to survive???? You’re an awesome story teller Katherine. Onto book 7. Can’t wait

Definitely a series to binge on!

This author must do a lot of research and keep great notes to make the logistics work in this book. It is non stop action again. Again, you will need to read the series in order for this book to make sense. Definitely a series to binge on!

This one was easy for me to set aside. If a book is really good I don’t put it down. Maybe part of my problem is the span of time me between books. I did read the JL book immediately before this one though. Still it is an interesting series.

These books keep getting better! When the family steps into the past to help a sick child, they have no idea of the trouble to come for them. Teri Schnaubelt was a wonderful narrator. I was given this book by the narrator, author or publisher free for an honest review.

Love this series

This is great historical time travel fiction. The characters are well defined and you can easily visualize the era and locations the author provides. The family connections are wonderful. This series would make a fantastic television series.
