High seas terror, international intrigue... homegrown problems...
Rescuing hostages on a yacht is a fairly normal mission for Brett, one of the elite SEALs, but having one of those hostages be an ex-girlfriend and her kids — well that changes everything.
Particularly now that he knows she's single again.
Ceci had walked away from Brett and into another relationship as a way to heal. Only to end up as a widow raising two kids. She planned to stay single and secure, avoid all the heartbreak that relationships bring until she comes face to face with her rescuer...and realizes she's been fooling herself for years.
Unfortunately safe doesn't mean safe anymore as the situation goes from bad to worse and she realizes she might never get a chance to fix her mistake...

I did not read the other books in this specific series, but that doesn't matter. It's great as a standalone.
Dale Mayer knows how to write a great book. It grabs your attention from the first page and keeps you glued right to the last word.
Poor Ceci, this was really a matter of being in the wrong place at the wrong time... twice. Her first holiday in what seems like forever and it just had to be her ship that the pirates target. Luckily Brett and his team comes to the rescue. Lots of action and very tense moments intertwined with chemistry flaring up again between Ceci and Brett, makes this a riveting read.
Highly recommended for all who loves men in uniform and romantic suspense.
Thank you to the publisher for providing me with a copy of the book to read and review.
This was a great read full of danger, mystery and suspense. Brett is on a mission with his team when he gets a call from his mother that some of the family is in danger can he go check it out. On getting to the yacht he finds it has been taken over and his ex is aboard with her young children. Gun fire breaks out many are taken down. There are some intense scene with Ceci and her children will they make it out alive. Just when you think things can’t get in worse they do. This is a fast action packed romance that keeps you guessing and jumping. There are a few minutes throughout that your heart beats fast wondering how things can get worse. Their break wasn’t the best and her rebound marriage was good but was lacking. Now with Brett back in her life the past is relived with feeling going deep.
I really like the twist and turns the author gives you. The characters are great you can feel the emotion coming off the page with each turn of events. I thought this was a very believable story that really held your attention from start to finish. I really like her kids they were just so sweet just trying to be normal kids with a mother that is on an emotional downward spiral in more ways than one. Brett was so kind and caring giving her the room she needed but pushing her when he had to, to keep her and the children alive. I have not read any other books by this author or this series but I didn’t feel lost at all. Everything is explained very well with a story I couldn’t put down. I am looking forward to reading more from this author.
Navy SEAL Brett Chapman is alerted by his mother that relatives are in trouble on a yacht. Upon arrival, he's shocked to find the yacht captured by pirates, and unexpectedly, his ex-girlfriend Cici and her children are aboard. Following a standoff, the yacht is released, but Cici wants to go home. Her passport was stolen by the pirates, so drama ensues at the embassy when she arrives to straighten it out. Brett helps her as much as he can. Despite the mystery of their past breakup, Brett's feelings for Cici remain, and he contemplates a reunion now that she's single.
I thoroughly enjoyed this story's complex plot twists. It was a compelling suspense novel showcasing a formidable SEAL team's rescue operation. The team's effort appeared seamless, yet retaking the ship from pirates was a formidable challenge.
Brett's character was remarkable; his professional prowess and tenderness towards Cici and her children were admirable. Cici, though devoted to her children, came across as somewhat frail. Even so, the romance was touching, and I was rooting for the couple's success.
Reading and reviewing this book was a pleasure, as I admire Dale Mayer's ability to weave thrilling suspense narratives with robust SEAL characters unmatched by others.
Elite SEAL Brett is sent to rescue hostages from a yacht but when he discovers one of the hostages is now single ex-girlfriend Ceci and her kids it becomes much more personal. Ceci had walked away from Brett trying to find a way to heal but ended up a widow raising two kids. The master plan for life was to stay single and avoid the pain that relationships often come with but when she sees Brett she realises she was fooling herself. When safe suddenly becomes dangerous she realises she might not get a chance to correct her mistake - will everyone stay safe and can Ceci fix things?
This was a sweet story of the pain that can come with relationships and how communication is key. Add to that danger, determined killers and a hot SEAL and you get a recipe for lots of emotions, soul-searching and passion. The story was fairly believable and easy to get into so that you needed to know what was going to happen next. Well written and very enjoyable.
this is the first ever story I read written by Dale Mayer, and I enjoyed it. I must say, I'm not really a fan of second chances because why the hell would you fck it up with someone you love in the first place? But nevertheless, Brett made me swoon and think twice about these second chances thingy. Hahaha!
Glad that Brett made Ceci believe in herself once again, and the kids would now have a father to look up to.
Am sooooo looking forward to reading the other guys' stories 😉
While this is part of the SEALs of Honor series, it can easily be read as a stand alone novel. This was a great story of a second chance romance. When Brett goes out on his latest mission to rescue hostages on a hijacked yacht, he never expects to see his ex-girlfriend Ceci and her children. Nor does he expect to have to keep rescuing her as the danger follows her. Great suspense and romance as once again another SEAL becomes a "keeper."
This is the eleventh book in the SEALs of Honor series that can be read as a stand-alone.
Navy SEAL Brett Chapman is on a mission with his team on the African coastline to rescue hostages from a luxury yacht that was overtaken by pirates and it’s personal as some of the passengers are part of his extended family. Finding his now widowed ex-girlfriend on board with her two young children was an unexpected surprise. The SEAL’s subdued the pirates and the yacht was able to go on its way but his ex-girlfriend refused to go with them preferring to head toward land and then home but without passports the family ends up at the US Embassy where something is very wrong when Brett checks up on them. That she’s single again has Brett intrigued but she’s the woman who left him and broke his heart six years ago, the true reasons why he’s never known. Can this be their second chance?
On a much needed vacation with her kids, Ceci, who doesn’t seem to have a last name in this book, is traumatized by the hostage experience and can’t wait to get off the yacht with the rescuing SEAL team only to find herself embroiled in a hostile situation at the US Embassy while she waits for passports so they can head home. If not for Brett none of them would have survived the situation they were in and seeing him again brought back so many memories and what she gave up as a reaction to personal pain that she’d never shared with Brett years ago, instead marrying a soldier six months after dumping him.
This reader absolutely loved Brett, he’s definitely a keeper but I could not relate to this heroine and the poor choices she’d made in life. This reader prefers stronger female leads and found this one difficult to like, the level of insecurity and lack of self-confidence did not help to endear her to me. She had many realizations about herself and the past in a short time span, repeating them as if to convince herself of their truth. Six years passed yet it was meeting Brett again that was the catalyst to comprehending the mistakes she’d made. She says she’s changed, not the same person she was back then but this reader was not convinced and wished Brett had been found a better partner. The suspense piece of the plot was intriguing and believable and fast-paced, I loved seeing the men whose stories were previously enjoyed; Bullard and Dave really need to get their own too.
An advanced reading copy was obtained from the author.
This is another exciting action packed romantic book in the SEALs of Honor series with Brett reconnecting with the love of his life after six years. She broke things off with him and he was devastated not understandiing why. As it turns out she had a miscarriage and did not know how to tell him so she fled instead. Six years later the SEAL team was sent to rescue passengers of a yacht that had drifted into Somola waters and was overrun with pirates. They saved everyone and as it turns out widow Ceci and her two children, Jimmy and Jennifer were on the yacht on holiday and Brett saved them since he was on this op. They sent them to the embassy in Somola because the pirates had stolen all their passports and she had to reapply for new ones. Whi!e there they were the embassy was overtaken by rebels and Brett went to check on Ceci and her children and was caught up fighting for their survival. They escaped and Brett called his unit who were given the op to protect them because they were closeby. They fled to the home of an ex SEAL Bullard who had a medical clinic. This is where their adventure continues as the rebels had put a tracker on the truck that they used to escape with so they followed them and attacked them again. In the meantime Brett and Ceci worked things out between themselves and realized they still loved each other. When they flew back to the States the rebels followed and were out to kill Ceci and Brett who then killed the woman leader. Unfortunately her boyfriend was out for revenge but Ceci ended up killing him after getting shot. Brett's SEAL unit once again added another happy SEAL to the Keepers with Ceci and Brett getting their happily ever after with her children getting a father as well. To say this story was exciting would be an understatement and so very romantic as the unit had each other's backs as well. I cannot wait to read the next suspenseful romantic story. I highly recommend this amazing series.
This book opens with a rescue, pirates had taken a private yacht off the coast of Africa.
It's during this rescue Brett gets a shock. The woman who broke his heart years ago is huddled with her two young children.
Now you'd think that would be enough excitement. However, it's only the beginning.
Once the yacht is secured, Ceci refuses to get back on. Because her purse was taken by the pirates she had no idea where her passports are. Waiting in the US Embassy in Somalia for the paperwork to go through is comfortable, but Ceci wants to be home.
Then all hell breaks loose as Brett is visiting. This is fortuitous since he's able to get Ceci and her children to safety. That safety is in the form of Bullock.
With there history, Brett is a bit leery but is undeniably still in love with her. Ceci on the other hand is confused yet she knows a confession is in order if they are going to be able to start again.
I love the way Dale incorporates the people from the different series into her stories. I love Dave and Bullock, and the rest of Brett's unit.
There is plenty of action, twists and turns and sizzle in this book as Brett and Ceci reconnect.
This is the first book I read by Dale Mayer and I have to say, Ms Mayer is an author I will continue to follow. This book is the 11th book of her series titled Seals of Honor, and is definitely a stand alone. The main characters are Brett a Navy Seal and Ceci, an ex-girlfriend that broke his heart when she left him . They meet again when he is part of the team that rescues hostages on a yacht off the coast of Africa in which she is one of the guests. Ceci is now a widow with two small children. The plot is interesting and engaging. Brett is an alpha male with a big heart . Ceci is dedicated to her children and has kept secrets as to why she left Brett. The children are adorable and make the story more real. The book is filled with action, suspense, bad guys, hunky Seals, interesting secondary characters and romance. What’s not to like !?! I am looking forward to more stories in this series and going back to check the previous ones. I was gifted this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
Action from the first page, suspense throughout. As always a fantastic story to go along with great characters, I fall for each and every one of this team of guys and the women they claim are pretty great as well. Brett has just been biding his time with Ceci, saving her and the two children and then protecting them speeds things up, the children are both adorable. Ceci has had much chucked at her in life since she broke off with Brett years ago, she has had to be strong but this threat she now faces is starting to break her, mainly through not being able to get any decent sleep until she gets help in protecting her and the children. The story itself takes us from Somalia back to the USA, and the topic is a fairly rife and common one these days, or at least the first part is. I love how this author manages to use topics that are very much in the news these days while putting her own spin on them, making it interesting and riveting reading. I have enjoyed the whole series immensely and look forward to more.
What's better with second chances....When it's a second chance with a Seal. Every Seals of Honor book that I have read has it all, action, adventure, romance, a hot Seal man and a woman that he protects and loves. This next instalment doesn't disappoint and this time it's about Brett and the woman who he has always loved but dumped him years ago. After she dumped Brett, Ceci got married, had 2 kids and now is widowed. When Brett rescues her from pirates that is only the start to the danger she is in with her two kids. When she finally realizes that Brett is the one for her and that she still loves him....it could be too late. A book filled with action, danger and a love between two people given a second chance. Another GREAT instalment to the Seals of Honor series with the Seals of Honor men making their appearances. *I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book*
Brett by Dale Mayer SEALs of Honor Series Book Eleven Brett Chapman was on a mission. Pirates had taken over a yacht. When a cabin door opens for him to enter...he finds someone from his past inside. One mission accomplished but an unexpected one starts up.
Ceci was just going to have a nice break from life, a vacation on a yacht with her two young children. Somehow things go from bad to worse. Thank goodness, Brett is there to protect them. Unfortunately, it brings memories of her past decisions gone wrong.
The men on this SEAL team keep finding women they want to keep. Mostly after they have rescued them from danger. I like how many of the characters from the previous books are included in each story. And this book had a couple new unique characters. Great series. **Sensual content and language http://justjudysjumbles.blogspot.com/...
WOW! Another great story. It is Brett's turn. He fell in love with Ceci 6 years ago but she walked away and hurt him deeply. Now he has to rescue her along with her 2 adorable children from pirates and then from an attack at the embassy where they were staying. Now home, the trouble only followed them home and the guys have to keep the family safe. In the meantime, Brett and Ceci discover that their love for each other never died. Now after Ceci kills the last terrorist before she collapses, she finds what she has been looking for and missing. I love that little Jimmy asks if they can keep Brett forever. This makes your eyes water. I am very happy that these two found each other again and found their happily ever after. FANTASTIC job Dale! I would recommend this book.
*voluntarily and honestly reviewed the ARC I received from Maxwell Author Services*
Looooved this! It's been a while since I've been pleasantly surprised by how much I love an installment in an already entertaining series. I've missed the Seals of Honor men and Brett's story was really exciting. Overseas, danger, and the adorableness of children that the men can't help but spoil was a total hit for me. If the danger dulled down, the relationship bit between Brett and Ceci picked it right back up. I was never sitting around wondering when it'd get exciting again. I liked how different Ceci was, how she had mistakes to own up to. Brett was a sweetheart. This just may be my favorite yet.
Brett and his team are sent to rescue some people from a yacht that has been hijacked by pirates. When he gets aboard and finds the one woman he has always loved with her children on board all the old feelings return. Cecil can not believe it is Brett who is saving her and her children. Once they get off the boat a series of attempts to kill Ceci and her children begin. Brett and his team must find the reason someone wants a single woman with two small children dead. Thanks for the arc copy another great job Ms. Meyer.
Brett is called to rescue hostages on a yacht that has been taken over by pirates. Unbeknownst to him is that fact that Ceci, the woman who walked out on him 6 years ago was on board with her two young children.
She walked away from him, hiding as was her MO. She was hurting and left him to wonder what he did wrong. Her leaving was nearly his undoing. Now that fate has stepped in, they have a chance to reconnect and she has a chance to explain what happened all those years ago.
Action starts quickly as Brett and the team rescue the crew and passengers of a luxury yacht that has been taken over by armed men. Brett's former girlfriend Ceci and her two children are onboard. With passports missing she is taken to an American Embassy in Africa and caught up in a military coup. Again Best rescues her and the children but she knows to much so is not out of danger. Ceci is a widow now and so Brett takes on the role of protector as he still has strong feelings for her. Can they survive to see if they have a future.
Brett and CeCe have a past. He has just found her and her children on a yacht that has been taken over by pirates. He goes to the embassy to see her and finds out their lives are in danger. He contacts his team and takes them to Bullard's. The team shows up and try to sort out who is behind these attacks. Brett needs to get CeCe to open up about their past because they both know they are on the verge of a relationship. Have to find who wants her dead so they can move forward.
Ceci comes back with more than she started with; will Brett be able to accept them all? But first, there seems to be a fairly significant problem that comes back to the US of A. Not easy to find, either. If you have read any of the previous books, you probably have some idea what to expect; but the wee ones make this a bit more suspenseful. I did see a proofing copy of this.
This is Brett and Ceci's story. I admit, I never really noticed or wondered about Brett in previous books. His book has turned out to be one of the most on the edge of your seat stories yet. The addition of kids into the mission adds a new layer of complication to the suspense we have come to expect from this series. It amps up the storyline. Another great read in the SEALs of Honor series!
Brett's story was one of pain, loss, hope and love. Funny how some things come full circle. The storyline was full of action and a ton of hot Seals. Jimmy and Jennifer were adorable. What a happy story. Well, happy after the shooting and imminent danger subsided. Dave was quite an honorable man. I look forward to reading his story one day. I can't wait to read more. A great add to your tbr list.
I am not sure but I think I already wrote a review for this story. 😁🎉👍 Anyway this one is about Brett, I love that character in the previous stories so I thoroughly enjoyed this story! 📚 Anyway I can't wait to read the next story in this series. The author has created a fantastic series and each book is great. 👍👍👍
I really enjoyed Brett & Ceci's story. It was suspenseful, romantic with bits of humor woven through. I liked how the h kept the safety of her children at the front of her mind at all times & not just when the storyline called for it. I received a free copy of this book in return for an honest review.
I read this book in a box set. An unbelievable second chance love story with an hot alpha and an amazing mom with 2 adorable kids. Talk about a storyline that keeps you on the edge of your seat. Lots of action. I love reading stories where you see other Seals of Honor. Can't wait for the next instalment of Seals of Honor.
Ceci walked away from Brett, she moved on and married another soldier and had two kids, then he passed away on duty. Since then Ceci has been moving in past forward and trying to keep everything and everyone on track. Now she's invited on a small vacation on a Yacht through Africa, but what starts as a nice little vacation for her and the kids turns in to horror, and fast when the yacht is boarded and taken hostage. Brett was on the mission the moment that he knew extended family was in danger in a yacht taken hostage, the moment he knows that Ceci and her children are among the ones who are held on the ship, he is brought back to his feelings and will stop at nothing to keep them safe. After she is safe and awaiting a new passport at the embassy he makes it his mission to get her out of her shell, in order to stop the kids from feeling even more fear and weirdness. But when the embassy is also attacked Brett is back into protector mode and he will stop at nothing to keep her and the kids safe.. Along the way he has to confront his feelings that still exist for her and see if maybe, they have another chance at forever!
Perfect for those who enjoy; 💪🏻 Romantic Suspense 💗 Novella 💪🏻 Navy SEAL 💗 Single Mom/Widower 💪🏻 Second Chance 💗 It's always been her
Brett's story is a delightful fun read with a bit of suspense thrown in. Although, Brett and Ceci's story, I want more of Dave and Bullard, as they quietly stole the show, so to speak.
Another amazing book. Finding a lost love, keeping her and her children safe. Brett had a big job to do. He did it with ease and help from his teammates. Finding Ceci again was well worth the battle.
This is another great story with lots of great and interesting characters. There is lots of suspense and a complex love story. I couldn't put this book down! Very entertaining!
I enjoyed this book. The characters were very realistic. The plot was interesting with several twists and turns. I am looking forward to reading more of this author's work.
