This story continues the saga of the ladies at The Jeweled Ladies, the best brothel in the west. Each lady has turned to this life for her own reasons, and even though they are whores, they now have control over their lives. This is unusual because they can make their own choices, and when new opportunities come around, they are able to leave the Jeweled Ladies, if that is what they desire. The stories are connected, but they can each be read separately with no problem.

A BDSM historical western, which is well-written. The author does an EXTREMELY good job throughout the Jeweled Ladies series of setting up all the characters of the town and carrying the developments forward in each book, while also covering different types of erotica romances (FF, MMF, MF, BDSM, etc). I've read two books of the series and she manages to touch on all the characters and you see them continue to develop after their story is over - only a scene or two, but enough for a quick visit

I love books in a series where a villain is redeemed - or maybe I just like the villains to have their happily-ever-after, too. The evil judge in Brimstone, Texas, is no exception - well, except that he actually doesn't want to be evil at all. He's been battling his demons his entire life, and is convinced his desire to hurt his lovers basically makes him... well, unlovable.

'His Sapphire' by Maggie Chase is book Four in "The Jeweled Ladies" series. This is the story of Judge Gerard Hobson and Sapphire 'Sadie' Bleu. I have not yet read the other books so for me this was a standalone book.
It appears that Gerard has been thought to have killed a prostitute. With things going out of control he talks to the 'Mistress' of the Jeweled Ladies. Which she introduces him to Sadie. Sadie is a worker at the Jeweled Ladies business who is good at submission. With Gerar ...more

I was surprised how much I enjoyed this historical romance that focused on the dominant/submissive relationship between Judge Gerald Hobson (the villain of the previous books in the series) and "Sapphire"/Sadie, a worker at the local brothel he has been trying to put out of business. I thought it was well done how the author captured the Judge's struggle between giving in to his inner demons to try to find his own happiness, and living up to the version of morality that he has been espousing in

An interesting perspective for a BDSM romance. Not often do you see historical fiction BDSM novels, let allow novels of this genre where the female submissive is the knowledgeable one and the dominant is still a novice. It was an interesting combination and ended working really well. I received this novel as an ARC and was impressed with it's well developed characters and subject matter. As far as I could tell it was historically accurate and interesting.

I received an advance reader copy in exchange for a fair review. This story involves the Sadie's submission of the dark side of Gerard. Sadie's submits to pain which accumulated into sexual pleasure. Gerard has to learn how to inflict punishment upon Sadie without causing damage. As the story goes along, they both come to love each other. It is a good book and I would recommend it.

Who is Maggie Chase? Writer, reader, crafter—Maggie has told a lot of different stories a lot of different ways, but the Jeweled Ladies series marks her first foray into historical western erotica. Maggie passionately believe that every single person deserves their own happily-ever-after and her stories reflect that hope on the page.
