Blake Karrington is more than an author. He’s a storyteller who places his readers in action-filled moments. It’s in these creative spaces that readers are allowed to get to know his complex characters as if they’re really alive.
Most of Blake’s titles are in the South in urban settings that are often overlooked by the mainstream. But through Blake’s eyes, readers quickly learn that places like Charlotte, NC can be as gritty as they come. It’s in these streets of this oft overlooked world where Blake portrays murderers and thieves alike as believable characters. Without judgement, he weaves humanizing backstories that serve up compelling reasons for why a drug dealer might choose a life of crime.
Readers of speak of the roller coaster ride of emotions that ensues from feeling anger at empathetic characters who always seem to do the wrong thing at the right to keep the story moving forward.
In terms of setting,Blake’s stories introduce his readers to spaces they may or may not be used to - streetscapes with unkept, cracked sidewalks where poverty prevails, times are depressed and people are broke and desperate. In Blake storytelling space, morality is so curved that rooting for bad guys to get away with murder can sometimes seem like the right thing for the reader to do - even when it’s not.
Readers who connect with Blake find him to be relatable. Likening him to a bad-boy gone good, they see a storyteller who writes as if he’s lived in world’s he generously shares, readily conveying his message that humanity is everywhere, especially in the unlikely, mean streets of cities like Charlotte.
I don't read books like this one (well not much, but it's beginning to grow on me. Just a little.) If you like action.... It's there. If you like drama.... It's there. You want love and romance.... It's there. If you like the bullshit of the street game.... It's there!
Love Lies & Consequences title says half of it, the other half is the Consequences of Love and Lies. I can't say too much more because the part 2 teaser have me guessing where the authors are trying to take me.
The was okay but I liked the characters. My problem is I think I have a lot of book left to read, but I stops at 69%. I understand a preview of another book, but 31%, that's kinda ridiculous. I rarely leave reviews because as an author, I consider you an artist and sensitive but your stuff. Just my opinion.
1. All these men are dumbasses. 2. So are the women 3. No body uses condoms but they are having sex with everybody. 4.. The audio narrator did not change tone or voice for each character. 5. WTF is part 2. I hate a cliffhanger and this has been hanging off the cliff at least 5 years. This is what I get for going in blind.
The men in this book are narcissists. It’s like how do you get to do your dirt but expect your girlfriend or wife to accept this. Even though they did but it gets old. Maturity kicks in. How does that work?
I listened to this book and this is the first time I’ve listened to a male narrator throughout the entire book. It throws me off for the female part. Not a fan.
To me the book lacked clarity when switching from the current to the past. The ending was abrupt as well.
Not a bad book and I will continue with the sequel.
Man it's a lot going on in LL&C. I am familiar with Genesis Woods' work but am new to Blake Karrington as a writer. This collaboration was fire. Savannah was portrayed as a sweet girl but i bet it will be reveled she is every bit the opposite. Lyfe, in my feelings about him. I mean yeah he was man enough to break it off with Savvy before she went away to college, but dang bruh did you have to REALLY marry the chick? I feel a little bad, just a little about her bestie Reign, but she let this relationship, oh my bad "situationship" with Heim get this out of control. Can't wait to see where she goes in the next installment. The other chicks (Peaches and Desiree) I'm not feeling at all. Also looking forward to the next installment to see if these two get their just due. Highly recommend this series.
This left me open thirsty and ready for more I can't wait for part two because is about to go down as they say shit is about to hit the fan damn damn dizzy broads after stealing from my boy oh yeah being sneaky killing folks I'm kind of scared for Savvy but I love her character....Naheim is about the filariasis of a crazy B he should've never gotten involved with a girl but now that he has and he Frontin on it is really awful about the feel of something called KARMA... OUT FREAKING
This book is a great start to what is going to be a wonderful series. I'm upset that Heim can't see Peaches for what she really is. Sarai is cut from the same cloth as Peaches and while Lyfe and Heim want some down broads what they really got is a couple of snakes. They should've stuck to the good girls with their heads on right. Now here comes drama. Not to mention Reign's new friend is carrying handcuffs
This book was everything from beginning to end drama action intense couples up and down suspense puzzle revelation revealed well written can't wait part two
So, imagine my surprise when I get to 69% of the book being finished and I see TO BE CONTINUED. That just made me mad. It was getting so good and then to be continued? HOW SWAY? Based off what I read ot was pretty good but you cant just end a book like that then give me a billion page sneak peak of another story. I don't care aboit the sneak peak, I care about Love, Lies and Consequences. I dont even know if I want to bother with part 2 now. Lile, wow.... just wow. Smh
Just when you get hooked it ends. I also loved the sneak peek of Carter girls which was juicy as well. Blake always brings the heat good read definitely waiting on part 2.
Looking for an attention getting read this for you! Like the title say and much more. Love triangles, friendship and business betrayals, just about anything you can think of is in this story. I can't wait for part 2
This book had me talking to myself while reading it. It was good from the beginning to the end. I can't wait for part 2 cause some shit about to go down.
There was A LOT going on and I wasn't really sure where the plot was heading for much of the book, but it eventually all started to come together in the end.
I enjoyed reading Love Lies and Consequences. I listened to the Audio Book on my Library application called Hoopla.
Every good girl loves a thug. This is the truth even for Savannah who has loved Life since she was 12 when he came over with her brother and gave her birthday gifts.
Savannah went away and made a good life for herself as an lawyer. She comes back home to start her practice and goes through all the drama that a lawyer defends their clients against. Find out of Savannah is going to be able to stand the heat in the kitchen.
Looking forward to the next part of this book. I'm sure it is going to be one, right?
I enjoyed this book. It was very interesting. I didn’t trust Peaches, she’s a trip. Hiem has a lot of nerve with his demands & he can’t let go of Peaches. Sarai seems really hurt & I don’t think she’s going to stop fighting the inevitable.Lyfe tried to do the right thing by Savannah when he let her go but now it doesn’t seem like the right choice was made. However people make the best choices they can at the time.
I don't know why I thought this book was a love story. But I fell in love with hating & loving these characters. I definitely felt the way that these guys treat women is sad. It's real life though. I like that it was current. I like how no matter who's point of view you got, it flowed. I'm upset about the ending. Definitely waiting on part 2.
I enjoyed the story. I like the storyline and the characters. There were a few grammatical errors but overall it was a good book. Did not like how it just ended. Will patiently wait for part 2.
Man why did it have to end like that? Lyfe is too smooth for me, don't know why naheim is so blind to peaches. This is not going to end good with kwan. Goo book can't wait for part 2
Just couldn't get attached to any character. Cliche after cliche made for an unpleasant read. Kept hoping it would improve, it didn't. Ending on a cliff hanger didn't help things.
