A fantastic text for an understanding of same-sex vocabulary in Hindi/Urdu writing specifically. Despite being an 'academic' text, it's rather light reading and I suppose that's part of its charm. It's much more of a literary inquiry than a conceptual one.
However, I do feel that its scope was far beyond what the 200 plus pages here ended up doing. I would've liked a more in-depth focus on the Hindi-Urdu texts, and maybe another book or paper for the Planet Romeo & gay anthology chapters.
