Now, years later, he’s the toast of the ton and finally in a position to give Anna a taste of her own, bitter medicine…

Anna Grant has never stopped loving Lucas Townsend, contrary to what he believes about her.
Having lived her life mourning the loss of love and envying other people’s adven-tures, the opportunity arises for Anna to have an adventure on her own.
Does she have the courage to seize the day, and will back the heart of the brooding Captain she used to know?

Hey everyone!

I'm Nadine, a writer from County Laois in Ireland.

I’ve been writing historical romance since March 2014 and have no plans to stop!

While my heart belongs to Regency, there are a lot of other genres and ideas fluttering around in my brain so who knows what will happen next?!

When I'm not writing I can be found scurrying around after my three children. Or my dog. Or my cat.

I have a brilliant family and wonderful friends who are ever patient and supportive of me.

I'm sometimes asked where my inspiration comes from. I guess it's from everywhere! I love my gorgeous husband to distraction so that helps! I think I also put a little bit of people I know into my characters...so if you know me and you recognize someone... ;)

Have an ever so mild obsession with Jane Austen and have properly researched time machines in case there's one who could take me back to 1800s. Spoiler alert: there isn’t one. My brain might be odd but it's a pretty fun place to be at times!

My writing really took off when my youngest started preschool. So now, while my children are being taken care of by teachers, my characters are being taken care of by me!

To be fair though, I can quite regularly be found at 2am glued to the laptop when I get an idea!

As usual, I was quickly sucked into the story and couldn't put it down. I think Ms. Millard is a great storyteller, I enjoy her books.

I always enjoy a "lost love" story where a couple is given a second chance at love. Lucas and Anna have quite the history, filled with misunderstandings and hurts. They can barely be in the same room together without coming to blows. So, of course there is lots of tension and bantering. Which always keeps things fun. Underneath it all, there is still that attraction they feel for each other.

I enjoyed Lucas and Anna's story, was lucky enough to be able to read it in one sitting which always makes reading more fun. We see them in the previous books so it was nice to be able to find out what their backstory was and see how things work out. While I did enjoy the story, I thought the mystery/bad guy could have been developed a little more. I also wouldn't have had them "hook up" since I felt that took a lot of tension out of the story. And with everything she had been through, it would have been nice if they had waited and he had proven himself to her before they get together.

Overall, an enjoyable regency and a fun conclusion to the Revenge series.

Content
Romance: Pretty clean. Mild innuendo, kissing and closed-door premarital love scenes. Nudity
Language: None that I remember
Violence: Mild
Series: Revenge Series, Book Three - can stand alone

I was already a huge Nadine Millard fan. I've read all her books and they've all been amazing. This one... y'all...this one was just fantastic. I mentioned in my review for The Spy's Revenge that I was pretty sure there would be a book with Anna and Captain Townsend's story. There had been hints of their history in that and Highway Revenge. Finally... (FINALLY!!!) we get to find out why there was all that tension and mystery and sadness surrounding Anna and Capt. Townsend in the other books. THIS was their story!
Anna has been through so much. She's been betrayed by her father. She has been abused by her murderous husband, who has now killed himself, leaving her a young, childless widow. All this, while nursing a broken heart from a lost love...
Enter Lucas Townsend... I knew he and Anna had something from their past. We finally learn what happened and why Anna went on to marry another, while Lucas worked his way up the ranks in the Navy.
Their story makes my heart hurt. Young love is hard enough. But throw in confusion, lies, misunderstandings, and betrayal... and it's almost impossible to keep a flame alive. Almost.
I absolutely adored this book. I adore Nadine's writing style. She has a talent for making you really care about her characters. I seriously laughed, cried, sighed, cringed, yelled out loud, felt immense frustration, desired to hit people, cried and laughed some more, and even blushed. (I LOVED the HEAT!!!) Definitely a favorite, and as with all her other books, I'll be adding the paperback to my personal library when it's available. And I am so grateful I was able to read an advanced reader's copy. #blessed;) ***The e-book version will be available on Dec. 15!!***

I'm always highlighting favorite quotes in Nadine's books. Here's a few of my favorite:

"...he was a weak fool who needed to find a way to move on without being haunted by a woman who looked like an angel but hurt like the devil."

"Lucas' mind immediately went somewhere it has no business going in front of her brother."

"GOOD LORD, HE'S HANDSOME, Anna's brain shouted. The hussy."

"He would need a swim in the icy Thames if she kept speaking in such a way."

"...but she had the power to hurt him with her tongue. Worse, he'd still infinitely prefer her do other things with it."

A 5 Star Review of THE CAPTAIN’S REVENGE by Nadine Millard

I cannot express clearly in words how thrilled I was to read The Captain’s Revenge. I have been needing a bit of regency in my life, and Nadine’s writing always hits the spot. Through well written dialogue and descriptive details, she offers a strong set of characters who tend to break the convention of the ton, thrilling me with their strong personalities and adventurous spirits—as well as their banter and wit. After completing the last installment, The Spy’s Revenge, I assumed Nadine would give us a story to shed light on the tension and chemistry Anna Grant (Spencer) and Captain Lucas Townsend displayed for all to see. It was clear there had been a history between the two and a falling out of sorts, but with others so unsure as to the reasoning for the cold demeanor, I just knew there had to be a deep secret from the past.

“…he was a weak fool who needed to find a way to move on without being haunted by a woman who looked like an angel but hurt like the devil.”

As Nadine so eloquently does, she built a story that clipped along at a steady pace, inviting reader to sail through the story to understand the hurt, heartache, betrayal, and misunderstanding that led to the heated turmoil that unfolded in a beautiful and captivating love story that offered adventure on the high seas. This is a fantastic read that is sure to hold you captive.

** This is the third book in The Revenge Series. A series of interconnected standalones. **

Another fabulous book from Nadine! This story was wonderful! I had butterflies while reading the more passionate lines. I throughly enjoyed reading about Lucas & Anna. This book is the third in a series but can be read as a standalone. Now I'm very anxious to read the first 2 books in the series. I highly recommend Nadine's books, I'm never disappointed by them. I was lucky & received an ARC

I knew from the first book in the series, Highway Revenge that Lucas and Anna needed to have a story. There was some mystery to why they had so much hate for one another. This explained everything and more. Although I loved Highway Revenge and The Spy's Revenge this one has to be my favourite. The tension between Lucas and Anna was exciting and thrilling. My heart ached when I found the reason they were apart. You know, the evil father scenario. I really had a hard time stepping away from these characters and into reality. I knew they just had to be together! Why couldn't they see it!? Nadine's writing style takes you as if you were right there with them. This is why she is one of my top favourite authors!

Great book that wraps the series up. Love it. All of the characters are there and the two main characters Lucas and Anna are awesome. It's a fine line between love and hate and oh how much they love each other.

It saddens me for this series to end. I've enjoyed all the romance, bantering, humor and spying from all the characters. So happy for Lucas and Anna to finally have their happy ending after so many years of separation do to misunderstandings.
