After months of high stakes competition, backstage drama, and secret romances, a winner is going to be chosen for the Singing Sensation TV show. Recording contracts, fame, money - Conor's whole future hangs in the balance. But how much of himself is he willing to give up in order to win?
A homecoming and a long-awaited reunion.
Win or lose, Conor's going home. His family, friends, school - and Derek, the bad boy next door - are waiting for him. But the things, and the people, he left behind in his small town haven't exactly stayed the same. Neither has Conor. He's not the same person who left, and Derek's not the same person who told him to go. They might even have a future, but only if Conor can save Derek from his past.

Great series! I love how Conor and Derek found their way! Coming-of-age and finding yourself can be so confusing, difficult and overwhelming and the author showed a lot of these facettes with this story. Sweet moments, sad moments, frightening moments and just beautiful moments.
I dove into this last part of Conor's book right after I finished the second one and read it in one sitting. The competition finished, and Conor went back home - only to find a few major changes occured while he was gone. I wasn't completely satisfied on how things with Derek worked out. But in all it was a nice conclusion to Conor's figuring out how to adult. 3.5 stars.
I love this series, it's beautifully written, the main characters are interesting and again the plot had me hooked from the beginning. 4,5 stars and highly recommended!
This contains spoilers for the two preceding books in this series.
So, this book starts with Conor in the final top ten contestants in the reality tv talent show Singing Sensation, his issues with kai have been put behind him and he is developing a relationship with Jesse.
I don't want to spoil anything about the show, suffice it to say that soon the show ends and Conor is abruptly thrust back into life in a small town and returns to high school, the same faces and the same dramas. Although this time his two best friends aren't speaking to him, or each other, and Derek Folsom is in jail.
Can I just say that I love this series and I am very glad with the way it turned out. Over the trilogy I have seen Conor develop into a more confident young man, someone who finds himself worthy and I am happy that he has found his true love.
Enough said, if you love a tender love story then this is the one for you.
My rating is for the trilogy. The Sing Out books should be read with the expectations of a serial trilogy. Then again, the third book leaves a lot open for possibly re-visiting these guys in Jesse's story. I read the books sequentially over a two-day period. This is one of the most well-done YA/NA (maybe more NA since the sex scenes are graphic, albeit not so detailed or long) I've read and a lovely coming-of-age story. The main and side characters are well-drawn, complex, interesting, and realistic. Conor is an engaging and complex protagonist. The story is told from his POV and rings true to the perceptions and experiences of a smart and empathetic eighteen year-old. Like Conor, I've only peripherally (and skeptically) watched reality music or dance competitions, and my knowledge of these is mainly through my daughters' and their friends' discussions and my own reading. Since the story is from Conor's perspective, the focus is more on relationships than a blow by blow of the competition. However, Conor's thoughts about and choices regarding his interpretation and delivery of the songs performed beautifully demonstrates his love for music. Looking forward to reading Sing Out #4 today.
The rating is for the "trilogy" novel that is more than the sum of it's parts. In this volume we get the end of the show, Conor's return, and life through the end of the school year. Much of the stuff with Jesse doesn't work for me although maybe I'll like him more in his own follow up novella. Overall, much of the romance stuff with Derek works here and it's one of the best bully romances that I've read.
Overall I really liked this three novella book. There is a fair bit of familiar tropes and clichés but Dare's writing usually makes it worth it and there is a reality to the emotional aspects that a lot of other writers don't even bother to aim for.
This is a good series of discovering yourself while trying to accomplish your dreams. Conor is in the Top Ten of the Singing Sensation competition and still trying to find his HEA. His romance with his competitor, Jesse is fizzled and now it's time to go home, where his first love, Derek, is.
I love how Conor and Derek make each other better. There is the classic good boy/bad boy combo that may seem played out, but still works. They are facing graduation, then the rest of their lives. I definitely recommend this series.
What a good little series! I really enjoyed this. Of course and I really enjoyed the time we spent wrapping up earlier storylines. I think it was well done. I'm happy with how things went!
There's a couple more books in the series, Jesse and... okay, I thought the fifth book would be about Kai, but I just looked and it's about DEREK. So, I will definitely be reading those! That's unexpected!!! Woohoo!
Conor is still in L. a. Still competing for his break on Singing Sensations and he is still at a crossroads in life, being pulled in so many directions Conor can't tell which way he is going or properly figure out what his heart wants as the competition gets whittle down Conor has some tough decisions to make but the right choice could lead him to something other than fame, because it could give him a love he never saw coming but desperate needs.
These are so readable, just truly compulsive reads but all the typos and missing words drove me crazy. I thought of bringing the rating for all three books (which should just be one book imo) down to a 3 just to be honest I only didn't because I stayed up until 5am because I. Could. Not. Stop. Reading. I hope for future readers Hanna Dare gets a editor to have a pass at this.
I was so hooked on this series! It’s really one novel so grab the box set and definitely book 5 for Derek’s point of view which is absolutely excellent and the most intense of all the books. I’ve loved this series and so wonderfully surprised by it. I didn’t expect to be so invested or to find such engaging and mature themes. Definitely recommend.
I have really enjoyed the series and the growth of Conner and Derek. This has been the strongest book I feel so far in the series but I'm gonna pass on the next six centuries I didn't really like Jesse.
