Doreen has become a born-again Christian, or whatever, and has asked us not to buy her books! I didn’t buy this book but would have done had I wanted to, since I have more respect for Doreen’s angel knowledge than her religious beliefs.

Archangels are powerful celestial beings and each represents an aspect of God. In this book Doreen informs us about 15 of God’s archangels. She has included only the angels recognized by Judeo-Christian theologians.

There are nine “choirs” of angels: seraphim, cherubim, thrones, dominions, virtues, powers, principalities, archangels and guardian angels.

We don’t pray to archangels, nor do we worship them. We work with them because they are God’s gift to us and “part of the divine plan for peace”.

They are unlimited beings and can be with everyone who calls upon them. (This is as opposed to Medical Medium Anthony William’s assertion that well-known archangels such as Michael are sometimes too busy to come to us - which is strange, since as far as I understand there is no time in the higher realms.)

We can use both affirmative and supplicant prayers, such as “Thank you. Archangel Michael, for protecting me” and ”Archangel Michael, please protect me”.

There are legions of archangels helping us here on Earth, perhaps thousands.

The archangels of God emanate profound healing love and light.

The bulk of the book consists of descriptions of the fifteen archangels Doreen has chosen to tell us about.

MICHAEL means “He who is like God”.

He is the most famous of all the archangels.

He is the patron saint of police officers and other rescue workers.

When you get into a car it’s important to ask Michael for protecion. Three examples are given illustrating how Michel gave life-saving protection when asked.

Michael will also protect our possessions and help fix mechanical problems though I prefer to ask the various, relevant devas for help with these.

Michael has a royal blue or purple energy.

RAPHAEL means “God heals”.

He is the archangel of healing.

As far as I know I haven’t personally received healing from Raphael. But the book gives examples of others receiving healing help from him.

Raphael can also heal pets and you can call on him on behalf of someone else.

Raphael’s halo colour is emerald green.

GABRIEL means “The strength og God”.

He has a feminine energy.

Gabriel ministers to sensitive children and also teachers, counsellors, writers, artists and actors, and assists with parenting.

His halo is copper-coloured like his trumpet.

URIEL’s name means “the light of God”.

Uriel helps to give us information or solutions we need, e.g names, Together with Zadkiel he can help if you are taking a test.

We learn that Uriel gives a therapist called Melanie help by guiding the words she says to her clients so they feel better about themselves.

He is often depicted as a cherub and his halo is yellow.

CHAMUEL means “He who sees God”.Chamuel will help you attain inner peace and find missing items. He often helps me find things I’ve lost. He can see the location of everything.

His halo colour is pale green.

We are also given details about Ariel, Metatron, Sandalphon, Azrael, Jophiel, Haniel, Raziel, Raguel, Jeremiel and Zadkiel.

I found this to be an excellent source of information about the 15 archangels Doreen chose to include, and can highly recommend the book.

I've been interested in angels my whole life. So why not read a condensed book about Archangels, am I right? So I did enjoy learning about new ones I've never hear of and ones I've grown up with. There was key information about 15 that the author knows about.
I will have to say, some of the examples of how the angels helped made me a little annoyed. Not that they helped. But that these were the only examples used in the book. I can feel that the author was trying to show that the Angel's will help you no matter how big or small. Any time. But it really got me when someone asked for help picking the right scarf. Ok.
You must get to know me. Some or most of the time I am no frills. But that example annoyed me.
It is a broad overview introductory book. And I understand that. I enjoyed learning.

The book was interesting and that's the only particularly great thing I have to say about it. I was mostly interested in the hard descriptions of the angels rather than the anecdotes, so I'll mainly be commenting on that. I found the descriptions disappointing as they focused on the Judeo-Christian interpretations, leaving out the Islamic and Kabbalistic ideas safe for a sentence or two on a few of the fifteen angels. While I found the book enjoyable to read, somewhat, I didn't find it helpful or guiding in any way. I still seek knowledge about archangels but I wouldn't recommend this book for finding that.

An excellent overview and compendium. Very interesting to find her here in places directly addressing and discussing practices only alluded vaguely to in books on Raphael, Michael, and Gabriel, including calling the corners and the lesser banishing ritual of the pentagram, Solomonic traditions of evocation and evocation, which have a great deal of overlap with and parallels to similar concepts and approaches to intercessory prayer and archangel light workings. As always knowledgeable and illuminating delivery of information well researched and carefully, diplomatically articulated in, presented in a compelling and accessible manner suited for broad readership and consumption by general audiences, equally appreciable by those very experienced and interested novices completely new to these ideas and philosophies, enjoyable and of potential use for people of every faith and creed. A shame the author has drifted onto a more restricted and narrow spiritual path in recent years, this series and school of thought was so riveting and she was at its forefront in the marketplace of ideas making impressive strides, who knows what else may have accomplished given time, how could have applied these experiences and methodology to contemporary challenges and concerns....
(Relatedly I just spotted some of her card decks listed on Amazon Haul for very reasonable prices if anyone is seeking, know they can be hard to come by or expensive!)

I've been taking Catholic theology classes from kindergarten up until my senior year in college. This information was very relevant to my faith, as well as VERY useful during all chapters of my life to come. I'd recommend to anyone, and promise it won't disappoint.

I'm not sure what I think personally about the existence of angels helping us in our day to day activities, but from a psychological standpoint, it's a nice image to think of angels listening to us and helping us. I got this book as an audio book and I would recommend the audio vs a text book, because every chapter offers a prayer to a different angel who focuses on different elements of life. And then every chapter has a sort of meditation with that angel. So, I listened to most of it while flying to UT to visit my grandkids. Each chapter, I could close my eyes and listen to the prayer/meditation. It was soothing. I actually picked this book up as precursor to another of Doreen Virtue's books about an angel to call on to help with difficult people in your life (Assertiveness for Earth Angels). I heard a talk by Doreen and I liked the concept of calling on an angel before walking into a situation with a crabby person, for example.

Very informative and inspiring book. I felt that all the prayers included were great. But I think it would be easier if there were a reference section in the back of the book where all the prayers were together. That way for those that want to use it for reminders they can just look it up instead of having to look in each section. Great book, I will read again and it's already on my book wish list.

A good intro if you're just starting to learn about archangels. It touches on 15 of the more popular archangels, (but does mention some of the others) and mentions not only the Bible, but the Torah, Apocrypha, and other books throughout history. Personally I could have done without the personal testimonials, but that's just me.

I didn't really enjoy the other books by Doreen Virtue I've read, but I actually liked this one.
It was informative and thought-provoking. I liked that she discussed the appearance of archangels in different traditions and religions.
The prayers provided were diverse and could be useful if one finds it hard to make up their own.

Read to compare and contrast with Billy Grahams book as part of a discussion group about religion/ spirituality/ faith. It pulls from many different faiths and what I find even more interesting is the book of Enoch. Informative primer from someone who took the time to include many belief systems.

Great book! I had no clue about Archangels and the role they play or the specifics! I’ll be sure to call on my angels when I need them! Thank you Archangel Uriel and Gabriel who helped me when I called on them today.

Doreen really explains the characters and the roles of 17 Archangels in a very simplistic way. Included in the audio are prayers and meditations which are invaluable.
