Brad Carter is down on his luck. He loses his job, catches his woman in bed with another man, and he’s days away from being booted out of his home. Wanting to get away from his problems, Brad and his boys go to a nightclub, where they meet a wealthy stranger who offers them each $50,000 to go to Rio de Janeiro and traffic cocaine back to the U.S.

They jump at the opportunity and have the time of their lives in Rio, but when it’s time to return to the U.S. with the drugs, all hell breaks loose. Brad and his friends are caught, and being in jail is not anything they could have imagined. With the help of a fellow prisoner with powerful connections, they plan an escape.

Brad is determined to find his way back to the U.S., but not without Diamond, the beautiful woman he met before things went awry in Rio. Can he rescue her from the clutches of Armand, the sick crime boss who’s been holding her captive for years? He soon discovers that the web of criminal connections between Armand, his wife, and his associates are deep and dangerous. With the obstacles he faces, Brad’s journey to freedom may be impossible.

𝗕𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗢𝗱𝗱𝘀 𝗯𝘆 𝗦𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗿𝗼𝗱 𝗝. 𝗧𝘂𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗹.

This story revolves around Brad Carter, a straightforward, and a happily married man. Unexpectedly, a series of unfortunate circumstances started unfurling in his life and subsequently, he discovered that his wife is cheating on him, he lost his employment and he is a couple of days from being destitute. He frantically needs cash and that is the reason why he was unable to oppose the proposal of $50k for which he needs to supply cocaine to the US. Consequently, he and his friends got captured and has been shipped off to jail.

Nonetheless, Brad wasn't the person who will lounge around with his arm collapsed. The jail wasn't his objective and he needs to get out at all expense. In this manner, he took help from a prisoner and got away. Indeed, the story took a turn from here as Brad likes Diamond, a pretty lady, who he met during his mission in Rio and that’s why, he has to return to the US to rescue her from Armand, a kingpin. His plan is perilous and he faces a ton of obstacles, would he be able to escape those, rescue the girl and escape alive? Well, these are your answers to find out.

The story offers what it promises. It showcases that how two significant occasions totally changed the life of our hero, initial one was the rash choice to accept the proposal to supply drugs and second one was to safeguard Diamond from Armand. Brad is a significantly powerful character who has been composed amazingly. He is shrewd, faithful and fearless, fundamentally, our hero of the story who puts everything on stakes just to protect a woman while confronting a wide range of risky circumstances. Who does that? Well, Brad does. What does a reader search for in a book? Spine chilling action, dramatization and rush accompanied with exciting twists and turns throughout the story. The writing is ground-breaking and it's a pleasant read which can be done in one to two sittings without any problem. In the event that you're searching for spine-chiller fun, at that point it's an unquestionable purchase. MUST READ.

Life is rough for Brad Carter. Not only did he lose his job, he came home and found his girl in bed with another man. Now he sits less than a paycheck away from losing everything, but a chance meeting at a nightclub offers him a way out. This is the plot of Sherrod Tunstall’s Beating the Odds; it’s a sleek new entry in the urban fiction genre.

In Beating the Odds, Tunstall adds flavor and a new twist on the genre, while keeping the familiar tropes we’ve come to love. There are big and bad drug dealers, in their mansions and clubs. There’s hot sex scenes and violent gun fights, and I couldn’t put the book down as the plot flowed seamlessly from page to page. What I loved most about this book, is the fact that it is told from a normal guy’s perspective.

Beating the Odds is a solid entry by Sherrod, and I’d recommend this one to all urban fiction fans. I can’t wait to see what happens in part two.

The series moved at a moderate pace. The plot was clear and the characters, while only 2 were interesting, were developed. I think there were a few missed opportunities to strengthen the series. But, I will be honest and say that my feelings about the book may have changed had I read it instead of listening to it. The narrator did not have the rough edge needed to deliver this story in a way that was engaging. Between the lack of power and the mispronunciation of certain words (granted that could have been because the manuscript had it written that way), it distracted me as a listener from the story multiple times. While this series was not for me, I can see the author's creative mind at work and will try another novel or series.

Brad has a bad day....I mean a really bad day. After all goes to hell for him on his really bad day, he begins to worry about how he is going to make it. Jobless, no girlfriend, a slumlord that wants his rent money...Brad needed a great night out with his friends. What turned out that was supposed to be a night at the club with his friends, takes a huge twist and turn leaving Brad and his friends in some serious trouble, changing his life forever. I read this book in one sitting. It was incredible. I have book 2 and can't wait to read on to see what happens next. I highly recommend this book and author. What a great read!

I actually listened to this as something easy to listen to while I was walking, but Goodreads doesn't have the eBook edition.
What's funny is while it is good escapist easy read material, I found myself longing for the non fiction books that I had bypassed to read this.
The audio book is interesting because the reader is naturally or deliberately in sync with the characters. Is that the best way to do a book like this I aks you. Probably.
Anyway, I'm kind of glad its finished and I'm going to listen to a book written for the ear.

What a page turner! I've had some bad days, but nothing compared to what Brad and his friends experienced. This book had a lot of twists, turns, and surprises. The characters were vivid and I liked how the author wove their back stories into the chapters. This is the first time I have read a book by this author, but it won't be my last. I am definitely a fan!

So many twist in this book. The only ending to this story that I was more interesting was Brad & Diamond/Carter Marie Lily Levy. They got their HEA.
