Easily 4.5 stars!!

I was given this book for free from the author in exchange for a review and I DO NOT REGRET ACCEPTING WHATSOEVER.

WARNING: THIS BOOK IS HIGHLY ADDICTIVE. I read this so quickly and the relatively short length of the book had nothing to do with it; the story was just so good!

I loved Nova from the beginning. I thought she was such a kick-ass girl who went after what she wanted, and I so admired that. Jade was more reserved to me, but even as her mother basically terrorized her s

This book was such a pleasant surprise. It started slowly, building my mind and fortifying it to the rush of the oncoming onslaught of adrenaline brought on by the magic wielded by the characters. There was a definite longing in my veins to read the book and get immersed in the lives of the characters. The book cast its spell on me from the get go with its main character, the brilliant Nova.

Nova is introduced as a newcomer to the Kingdom of Sterling who has come along with her father to rescue

A few weeks ago I was contacted by the author of Over Ruled, Brittney Joy, if I would be interested in reviewing her book. She said it had magic. And heroines. And horses. And so like any person who loves magic, heroines, and horses, I said yes.

Over Ruled follows the story of both Nova Hart and Princess Jade. Nova hasn't set foot in the city of Sterling since her family left when she was just a baby and is shocked to find the use of magic in the kingdom, and more importantly, the way magic is us

This young adult fantasy was a win!! It’s full of intriguing characters, a mysterious kingdom, a heartless queen and tons of magic. The chapters are short, making this a quick read. They also switch perspectives between two protagonists. One is Princess Jade, who is heir to the thrown. The other is Nova Hart, a commoner, who is suddenly kidnapped and brought to the castle. Both girls have very different personalities and are just learning about

Great story, characters were compelling and the book had a solid ending while still setting an opening for a sequel. There were a few twists I didn’t see coming and things I can’t wait to learn more about in the next book (vague I know but I’m not going to spoil anything for those who haven’t yet read the book... just, read it and you’ll see what I mean).

Overruled introduces two girls, one royalty and the other a commoner, and mashes them together in a world where nothing is as it seems. In the kingdom of Sterling, only one person can use magic, and the evil queen is determined to hunt down anyone who might threaten her reign. At the top of her list of enemies are Nova, a common girl who has no idea she has any powers, and Jade—her own daughter. Nowhere is safe and no one is to be trusted.

*I was sent a copy of this book in exchange for a free and honest review.*

I literally could not put this book down! It was honestly so good and flew by so fast! I simply devoured it, adoring the world, the characters and the story. I loved seeing the strength of our main characters. Their ability to fight and remain strong despite all they are going through. I knew when I read the blurb that I was intrigued, but I didn't realise I'd love it this muc

My biggest complaint is I wanted more and I’m not sure how to explain that because it was very well written. The beginning was very captivating for me, I read half the book in one sitting and only stopped because I needed to sleep. I felt very engaged throughout the entirety of the book, the characters were like and disliked appropriately. Though I feel I could have disliked the Queen more. Something about the school at the beginning feels a little disconnected from the rest, but I completely un ...more

This was a fast paced book and is beautifully written. Adventure is definitely something you will find if that's what you seek. I love how Nova is not your helpless little girl. She's amazingly talented with a bow and arrow. Her best friend River is actually my favorite character in the book. Looking for magic? This book has it too. Of course with every book comes a villain as well as a few twist and turns. I can't believe the length the queen went to try and keep the throne though... Okay, let ...more

I have always been drawn to Robin Hood retellings, and this one was a pleasure to read! I loved the magic system, and characters, and the story was well thought out and easy to follow without lacking depth or detail. This is one of those stories that I couldn't get enough of, and absolutely loved reading! The action was consistent, without being so much that I felt overwhelmed. I never seemed to stall, or struggle to follow the story. I enjoyed that the two girls were connected without realizing ...more

3.5/5 - Incredible magic systems and fun characters!

This book had me enthralled in its lore and magic, following the tale of two girls who don't yet know that they're linked in ways they could never have imagined.

I had a really good time being immersed in this story. There were twists and turns that I didn't see coming, and the characters are likable and fun. Nova and Jade's story had me interested from beginning to end!

The magic system is also really fun to learn about and be a part of (an ex

I received this book for free through Goodreads Giveaways and have chosen to give my honest opinion about it.
I think this book was truly phenomenal! The story kept evolving into so much more, all the while maintaining the adventure and sense of action and espionage. The characters were also moderately well fleshed out, and the ideas behind some of the things within the book was very intriguing! Would definitely recommend.

This book was a pleasant surprise. It started kinda slow at first but then took off. I enjoyed how strong Nove, Jade, and Chanel were in different ways. Can’t wait to read the next book.

I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. 4.5 Stars! This was a really well written YA fantasy book. The alternating perspectives weaved together perfectly, and I loved the writing style. The premise was simple, without many subplots, but there were enough twists and turns in the main plot to make up for that.

I will definitely read the second book when it’s released!

Some books makes rating them so easy , this is one of those books . From the first page to the last you are not going to want to put this down . This books grabs you and you happily go along loving every second of it . The main characters are fantastic and the magic is different in a good way , not saying how you will have to read the book 😀 . So be prepared to lose some sleep or neglect anything else you need to do because once you start your not going to put it down until it's over and then yo ...more

Over Ruled is a fast paced, action packed fantasy story with a good mix of magic and danger, and some great female leads as well. At first I was worried the pace would be too fast for my liking (I typically like slow burning stories), but I was pleasantly surprised by how well the pacing worked for it. I found the main characters to be instantly likeable and the story captivating from the beginning. This story follows two girls: Jade the princess and Nova the horse-loving commoner (or so she thi ...more

Read this in just over three hours. Very well crafted YA fantasy that unfolds/reveals smoothly. Both Jade and Nova are smart, strong and likable. Chael is complex and conflicted, a dandy combination for a secondary protagonist. There's plenty of action and intrigue throughout the book and given the ending, I hope the sequel comes out soon.

I quite enjoyed Over Ruled. It was a quick and simple read that kept me interested. There is a lot of action without being too overwhelming. The emotions run high and it is easy to be taken into the story. The pace is fantastic for a short novel.

I am looking forward to the next book.
