Usually, I am not a reader of YA books. However, I love the way Danann writes and have read every other book she has written so I decided to give this one a try. I am ecstatic that I did. The premise of the book that the gods are in control and playing games because they are bored was too delicious to pass up. The characters are well developed but will be even more so in the future, I am sure. The game is beginning and the players are beginning to be laid out. I was oh, so deep in the story that ...more

High school is complicated enough when your just the average mortal, but throw in valkyries, knights, strange students and possible enemies that want to win at all costs and killing is a viable option. What's a serious student to do? Why surround herself which quirky friends, study and find out why out what the hell is going on.

This book is a start into a new series by Victoria Danann. It's about high school, but with a twist. I enjoyed this novella and can't wait for the next book in the series

The Game Begins: An Introduction by Victoria Danann is book one in her new series R.Caine High School.
This book is a YA read. ( I´m not a young adult but I greatly enjoyed reading it.)

Meet Ever Moore, a 16 year old girl on her first day at a new High School, in a new City.
Does she fit in? Can she make new friends?
What is the matter with the number nine?
Who are her friends and are they really what they seems to be?
And what games are playing the Earth gods?
So many questions and only one way to fin

Such a different take for Victoria. Refreshing & delightful! Took me back to when I was in High school. Made me remember the good parts of school. I really enjoyed this book. I am getting a few copies of the paperback. 1 for me to keep & a few to give to my Granddaughter and some other teens I know love to read. If you are a Victoria fan you will love this book. I've never been a big YA fan but this book just changed my mind! I figured since Victoria wrote it I'd give it a try and I absolutely loved it! It's unlike any story I've read before (which is something Victoria is good at doing!), and that is a huge bonus. Highly recommended for adults and teens! ...more

I am not ususally a YA reader however, I love the way Danann writes and have read every book she has written so I knew I had to give this one a try. Oh how glad I am that I did. This is the first book in a new series an what a great way to start. This story takes place in High School and there were some moments that made me think back so many years ago...I really enjoyed this Novella and look forward to the next book in this series. Victoria Danann has another hit series! Gods from diverse cultures strip their children (players) of their memories and withhold the rules of the game which begins at the age of sixteen when the players are transferred to R. Caine High School. I thoroughly loved the first book in this new series and can hardly wait for the next installment "The Knight". ...more

This book is very different from the supernatural adventures and even motorcycle club romances that Victoria Danaan normally writes. The Game Begins is a YA story of a family moving from Austin, Texas to California. The female lead character, Ever More, is clever, snarky and fun to read about. Having to move to a new school as a sophomore in high school could be anxiety provoking but she takes it in strides and begins a new odyssey of self-discovery. The story makes those readers who have long s ...more

Cannot believe how she continues to do it. Loved this story, I didn't even mind that it was a YA book. Love the fact that Victoria is moving into a new category. Not only can she do Paranormal Romance, Biker Boy Romance, but now she is moving in to the YA category that is based on mythological characters. The main character in this book reminds me of all of the students that are going through high school now days. Never knowing where they truly fit into the social order. I cannot wait to see whe ...more

This series took me back to my high school days. It brought up good and bad memories. It gave me a refreshing taste of teenage minds. Lots of twists and turns and really interesting characters. Enjoyed this book

I don't read a lot of teen books, but I like Victoria Danann's books so I decided to give it a try. I really like all the characters so far and the story line keeps your interest. I am very much looking forward to the next book to see how the characters do.

Great start to what is promicing to be a delightful new series. Will it be, in it's own right, as good as the original Black Swans and all of the subsequent spin - offs ? Well, only the following books will tell. I am looking forward to this new adventure.

Victoria Dannan has knocked it out of the park with her first foray into writing young adult.

Ever Moore is the new kid in school. All she is worried about is finding her classes, not having to eat lunch alone, getting good grades and fitting in. However, strange people, and things seem to follow her wherever she goes.

Ever seems to surround herself with a unique group of classmates. Galalia, who Ever nicknames Gaga, quickly becomes Ever’s best friend. Jean Marre, also known as “hunky odd boy,”

The gods have been long known for their games and wars within themselves to gain power and superiority over the others. This time they have involved their children in their games and placed them on Earth with no memories of who they really are.

Ever Moore has just transferred to R. Caine High School with no knowledge of the school. She hates sticking out but has made a friend in Galalia Endor and has also caught the attention of two boys, Jean Marre Montreuil and Mercury Ryder.

Funny, fast pace story..

This is a new style for Victoria Danann and it's fantastic.

The storyline is based on demigod and Goddess who are board and use there children to have a game. The children are sent to earth and they don't know anything about who they are until their 16.

Ever Moore is 16 and she's moved to a new school. High school sucks but being the new girl in school is almost unbearable. But she meets 3 people right off the bat, Galalia who love to read tarot cards, Jean Marre who is in

Victoria Danann has entered the YA world and she does it brilliantly. She truly captures the voice of a teenager and the stress of high school. This is the start of a fascinating series.

Ever Moore just moved to California from her home in Austin, Texas. To say she is not thrilled by this turn of events is an understatement. She had to leave her friends and her nice, quiet life. The prospect of being the new kid in the high school is also terrifying. Still, she does make some new friends rather q

waw what an amazing start to what seams to be i really epic series.
i think we all dreaded going to school the first time but to start in an entirely different school where no one knows you would be a really daunting situation, im really pleased that Ever met with gaga she seams to be an open minded person and after what Ever shares with her and theres no freaking out, one would say more intrigued by this situation and eager to learn more about her abilities.
theres some really charismatic
Most treacherous environment indeed! High school takes on a whole new level and angst. Absolutely love this story premise and I'd love to think this explains my own high school experience. Victoria Danann does it again yet in a new genre, young adult. But you don't have to be a teen to enjoy this book. This one I can't rave enough about! ...more
