Tales like the title story of this collection belong to the genre of inexplicable mysteries. ‘Chauthi khidaki’ is a fantastic scientific tale built around the concept of Time. ‘Porkhel’ uses theanalogy of a childat play with her dolls, to highlight that human beings are mere pawns in the hands of Fate. ‘Sucheta Chakrapani ani Ticha Kokilkanth’ tackles the tangle between an artiste and her art – a fantastic rendering reminiscent of magical realism. About the author

Matkari's first work, the one-act play Wedi Manase,was presented in 1955 on All India Radio in Mumbai.His play Pahuni was presented the next year at another venue.

Matkari worked as a columnist for newspapers and magazines in the 1970s. He wrote the column Soneri Savalya n Apale Mahanagar for four years.

Matkari's 98 works thus far include 33 plays, 8 collections of his one-act plays, 18 books of his short stories, 3 novels, a book of poems for children, and 14 plays and three collections of plays for children.His works include Gudha Katha --mysteries—for adults which maintain realism.Matkari wrote a few plays in Indian languages other than Marathi.Many of Matkari's novellas have been adapted for the stage.

I never read the stories in same sequence as they're given in the book. I always start with the shortest story & then go on to the longest. It's not true, but I believe longer the story, more interesting it is. So when I read all the stories but one, I wasn't much impressed with the book. But then I started reading the longest story, whose title is given to the book & Damn!
It has happened after a lonnnnng time that I was so thrilled while reading a story! It added more spice to the story when it was told in the start that it was based on true events!
That one story, is going to be on my mind for a very long time, that's for sure!
4 starts just for that single story which wholly changed my perspective about this book.

Mixed bag. Some stories are really good but some are just a time pass.

Book does not fit into a genre. In the end the book loses its appeal.

This book is largely themed upon terminal illnesses is what I think.I read it alongside narayan dharap's book. And the choice clear about who's books I ll be reading afterwards.
