Like plenty before her, social worker Clare Barker has entered a caring profession so that she can sort out other people’s problems rather than deal with her own. A control freak, Clare likes nothing better than interfering in other people’s lives on both a professional and personal basis, while at the same time finding it a trial having to put up with tiresome members of the public. Politically correct, humourless and prone to jargon, she is entirely lacking in self-awareness, making her encounters with colleagues, family and her partner Brian wonderfully entertaining and richly comic. It's very good. Claire is totally irritating as the know it all in every aspect of her life. She is bossy and dominating and her poor husband. There are many series now and it has gone on from strength to strength with her child and nanny and new colleagues. But, throughout it all, she seems oblivious to the fact she is a pain in the neck and totally condescending. It's a good show.

Laugh out loud funny. Not good listening to these stories when your out walking, people look at you funny when you laugh, smile wide and just grin stupidly.
