This was a fun and steamy romantic read!

For some reason between the personalities of both Belle and Quinn and the parallels between the stories, I could not help but be reminded of the story (and accompanying Disney movie) "Beauty and the Beast". I mean that in the best way possible because I loved the similarities. However, there were also many differences (as there should be with a uniquely, different story).

It was a steamy, enjoyable read and I loved the banter between the two main characte

When Annabelle Greene needed to marry to keep her inheritance, the only man she’s ever considered was Quinton Carlisle, AKA, the man who ruined her reputation six years ago. But Annabelle is desperate. If she doesn’t marry before her 25th birthday, she’ll lose the only inheritance she has, putting her future in jeopardy.

The only problem is Quinn isn’t interested in marriage, no matter how tempting Annabelle is. He already has a plan: sail to America, make his fortune there and make his family pr

2020 reread and I still love it but not as much as the first time since I listened it to audiobook! I still love it though!!

I was provided an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This is exactly what romance is. This is everything a romance should be. It should be filled with the right amount of love-hate, sexual tension, and the feeling of desire between two characters that make them destined for each other. When the Scoundrel Sins by Anna Harrington made me fall in love
After the fracas over this author's previous book If the Duke Demands, when it was made clear that I was not welcome to review it (probably owing to the low rating I had given her previous book, How I Married a Marquess - meaning I hadn't planned to review it anyway!) when I was offered a review copy of this, I thought I might as well. After a D+ the only way is up, right?

I've given this a C- at AAR.

I’ll say straight off that When the Scoundrel Sins, the second in Anna Harrington’s Cap

the first book in this series was very boring to me, but this one was one of the best hr i've read in a long time. annabelle was an amazing main character, i love how much she she loved her home and the lands around it and how dedicated she was to managing the estate her guardian left behind for her.

the childhood family friends angle with quinton made their relationship so much deeper and realistic. they're both very similar people but the author showed us that rather than just tell

This was quite a disappointing read, all the more so because I had so enjoyed If the Duke Demands , Book 1 in the series. I kept on wanting to stop reading, probably starting around 40% or 50% in (maybe even earlier?), but I trudged through because I got it as an ARC and hate reviewing books that I don't finish. There are good aspects, but the bad ones overshadowed them severely. Writing is good, chemistry is sizzling, there are some funny scenes.

But Quinn and Annabelle drove me bonkers!!! Ug

Five beautiful stars! Like this one even better than the first. Good to the very last word.

I love a good friends to lovers story. And like I said before, Quinn who is the 3rd son is as exciting a character as the first son (the duke himself). The third son story is a hard one to sell to me, but Anna Harrington has done it! The hero just about ruins any chance for the heroine to make a good match some six years ago. Jump forward, and he's kind of doing it again when Quinn decides to join Annabell

I liked the h/h but I got tired of her trying to find a husband when you know all along it's going to be the hero. And the end was frustrating.

This is my first Anna Harrington! (steadily making my way around to all the Regency Historical authors) I enjoyed Harrington's different voice and really sympathized with the heroine. Let's get into it!

The Story-
Annabelle comes from humble beginnings, but has been raised by and lived with an upper-class family since she was a child. Her one chance at a good marriage is ruined by Quinton, a friend who decided to kiss her at exactly the wrong moment. Now it's years later, and she finds out that sh

Annabelle is a spinster, oh you know she is already 25! Ready for the grave really. Her reputation is also on ruins after a little kiss in the gardens at 18. But who needs men! She is busy taking care of the estate she will inherit, reading her books and taking care of the people living there. A good honest woman. But there are always buts, if she does not marry before 25 she will loose the estate. Well that sucks. Better find a husband, but who wants a hubbie who can bully, take over her estate ...more

My rating: 5 of 5 stars 'When the Scoundrel Sins' by Anna Harrington is Book Two in the "Capturing the Carlisles" series. This is the story of Annabelle 'Belle' Green and Quinton Carlisle. I have read the previous book (and Loved It!) but do feel this is easily a standalone book. Belle was a homeless daughter of Lord Ainsley housekeeper who

The romance in this book is sweet and addictive. I just couldn't put it down and I can't wait for what Anna will have in store for us next.

We are back with the Carlisle siblings and this time is Quinton's turn to find love.  When I read the first book in this series (and my first by this author) I was really surprised about how much I liked it and I couldn't wait to see how this one would compare.  This was a great follow up and one I enjoyed immensely.

WHEN THE SCOUNDREL SINS has all the endearing qualities of a best friends to lovers story.  Annabelle Green has known Quinton for many years, he was even her first kiss.  But t

When the Scoundrel Sins is the second book in the Capturing the Carlisles series by Anna Harrington. Although part of a series it can easily be read as a stand alone novel.

Annabelle Green is one month away from turning 25. If she isn't married before then she won't inherit her home, Glenavon Castle. It will be given to the church and she will have to live in a dower house with the woman who has raised her since her mother died. She has put off marrying so far because when she weds she wants it

Actions and consequences!

Harrington bases Annabelle (Belle) Green's story around the laws of inheritance and matrimony pursuant to regency times. When a woman married her property becomes her husband's to do with as he willed.
However the twist in this story is that Belle has been left an estate by her benefactor's husband near the Scottish border that will revert to the church if she's not married by her twenty-fifth birthday. Belle must marry to retain her home she loves dearly. But whom is the

It takes a scoundrel to know a scoundrel. At least, that is Lady Agatha's thinking when she enlists her nephews, Quinton & Robert, to help sort through the fortune hunters wanting to marry her companion, Annabelle.

Unfortunately, Annabelle doesn't want to marry anyone, much less someone selected by Quinton, the scoundrel who ruined her reputation with a midnight kiss, followed by fisticuffs, over six years ago.

Annabelle's benefactor, Lord Ainsley, thought he was protecting her by leaving Glenarvo

I really liked both the main characters and thought they were a great couple. I did get frustrated with the constant back-and-forth on whether Belle was going to marry and, if so, who. The "mystery" surrounding the vandalism on the estate was very predictable and I don't think served much of a purpose in the overall storyline. Still the characters were interesting enough and I did want them to get together so I kept reading. I liked the scenes with Robert and want to read his story soon

I don’t typically read books out of order if I can help it, but when I read about WHEN THE SCOUNDREL SINS, I made an exception. It had all the hallmarks of a great historical read—a wicked hero, and bookworm heroine, and an unwanted attraction—I just couldn’t pass it up. Make sure to grab some tissues and a glass of wine, because this historical romance will make you smile AND sniffle!

Annabelle and Quinton knew each other from childhood. She inherited Glenaron but she had to marry before her 25th birthday. Quinton was a scoundrel and had a horrible reputation.
The descriptions were amazing, vivid and added greatly to the story. The characters were realistic and so life like. Quinton enjoyed teasing and giving Belle a hard time, as he put it, he liked to see her fire. The plot has some twists to it and some surprises, like the barn burning and Quinton trying to run back in. The
As you can tell from my review of Anna Harrington’s If the Duke Demands, the first book in this series, I flippin loved that book and thought it was a fun and charming standout from the slew of rather interchangeable historical romance novels I have been reading recently. Quinton has grown so much. When we first meet Quinton he is a rake. He is a one that doesn’t think of the consequences to others even when he is trying to do what is right. He takes risks and those have consequences. This is what happened when the story begins six years ago for Annabelle- her and Quinton are innocent but due to him wanting to protect her it turns into a scandal.

Now we are in the present and Annabelle needs to marry so she can keep her home. The consequences of six years ago are

Harrington’s excellent writing coupled with sizzling chemistry and a bit of humor make for a great read – even while you want to shake both the hero and heroine until their teeth rattle.

Our heroine is Annabelle Green. Her father is a convicted thief and her mother was a housekeeper. She knew brutality and deprivation before her mother passed away and she became the ‘ward’ of Lord and Lady Ainsley when she was still very young. You’ll fi

The last time Annabelle Green saw Quinton Carlisle was the night her reputation was ruined, thanks to him. Even if they only shared a kiss that no one witnessed, a misinterpretation of the situation put her respectability in tatters. Quinn was ready to make what any gentleman should do, but Belle forced her guardian not to push a marriage between her and the rascal. She knew that too much animosity would make them miserable.
