Cecily is happily going about her life, until her boyfriend, James, becomes abusive and hits her one day. Stunned, she turns to her brother, who lives across the country for help. Dex sends help in the form of Shane, a huge, muscled bad ass. Cecily, penniless and scared after running from James, takes one look at Shane as he pulls up and runs for her life.

Shane is not a bad guy though, even though he looks like one. After running her down and reassuring her that he is indeed her brother's friend

I really don't like Shane. The heroine deserves better.

The book goes like this:
I want her
I don't want her
I want her
I don't want her
I want her
She deserves better
I want her
I broke up with her
I want her
Out of sight, out of mind
I want her

Get a grip, could you?

And what's up with the H calling the h kid?? Are you serious?

I was given this book for an honest review by Wicked Reads.

This is a fast paced book with a lot of moving parts. There are also a lot of secondary characters that I hope will all get their own stories because there is a lot of tension and story-lines that hint at a much bigger story for everyone!

Shane is just what the title says - he's a transporter. Just like that Jason Sta

I'm giving her two stars for having written and had it published, because it's more than I've done, but no. Just try again, Sweetheart. Your own characters aren't even true to who you've made them out to be. It's like getting whiplash.

And I cannot handle an alpha male character talking like he's reciting shitty poetry. And she's just been beaten by her former boyfriend and she's jumping in the sack with another guy and possibly calling it love after 5 days? Again - no.

Unrealistic as well. What

4.5 stars. This type of book is usually not my cup of tea. It involves a group of operatives that work beneath the law to solve problems for the government and other agencies. The guys are all very alpha -- rough, tough, smart, and hunky. In this story one of the guys, Shane, is to pick up another guy's sister and bring her to their enclave. Shane successfully delivers Cecily, but they become mightily attracted on the way. Can a perky graphics arts student and a tough guy that lives with danger ...more

Great characters and hot sex make this a fun read. If you love bad boys who love their women, this is the book for you.

Y'all this book is so bad. I was so excited by the premise. A man picks up his mercenary buddies sister and must bring her home safe. She was caught in an abusive relationship and she needed an escape. I love me a good action/suspense romance. This book fails at both action and romance. The action is cheesy and underdone. The romance is over the top and overdone. The characters are never true to themselves or how they would act. Cecily is a vapid, self absorbed admitted gold digger. Shane is an ...more

The Transporter by Liz Maverick

All I can say is WOW and when is book two going to be released? It was THAT good!

I know, I know, the alpha male has a few moments where he questions his ability to be the best option for the girl he falls for and she wonders if they are a good match BUT they really are good together and it plays out well and is believable – for them – so – great job and kudos to the author!

This book immediately reminded me of Jason Statham in “The Transporter” but i

I won an ebook copy of this book in a contest I entered on Facebook.

I don't know what I thought I was going to get, but it wasn't an action packed, sexy romance with a dirty talking alpha hero who has a frozen heart that melts into gold once touched by love. But that's exactly what I got! And it was a wild ride!

This book was awesome. Total 5 star read. The hero, Shane is what made it a 5 star read. He's exactly how I like my alpha's (and I don't really like alpha heroes all that much). He's extr

Woah! Liz Maverick is back in a big way for me. And Shane Sullivan can transport the goods any time, any place. Despite feeling like I should know who Shane was and who the Hudson Kings were (like they were in a previous book somewhere that I just hadn't read), this book hit all my sweet spots.

Tortured hero? Check.
Sweet woman? Check.

First off, let me say that this book is well written. The pacing was smooth and the dialogue spot on which makes for an enjoyable book. I really think that this is a book that a lot of readers will love.

That being said, I didn't fall in love with this book. There was a sense of remove, a glass wall between me and the characters. This really affected my being able to care about the characters which in turn affected the tension that the author was trying to build up. I think that a part of it is t

THE TRANSPORTER, which kicks off the new Hudson Kings romantic suspense series, is my first Liz Maverick book. While it didn’t totally blow me away, it’s a solid, well-written, and fast-paced read with the right amount of exposition to set up the series, heroes who operate steadily in the grey, and off-the-charts chemistry between the hero and heroine. Heroes that blow hot one second and cold the next, changing their mind so fast they give you whiplash, are a pet peeve of mine so Shane rubbed me ...more

This is one of those books that I came across by chance and decided to give a go. What a great find!

Fast paced, witty, well written and romantic. I couldn't put this one down. Fantastic read.

Cecily is leaving her boyfriend after seeing his true colours. Her brother sends his friend Shane to pick her up due to an injury. Sparks fly...

Shane is tall, dark and handsome. He keeps himself to himself and focuses on getting the job done. But there is something about Cecily. She gets under his skin and

I think this series has potential but this book gets things off to a rocky start. I kept feeling like I had been dropped mid series and was missing information critical to the flow of the story. Hopefully things will be elaborated on in the next book.
The chemistry between the two characters was lacking. I just didn't see these two as a couple. For a contemporary romance there were very few love scenes.
Some of the action scenes were over the top as well. In one scene Shane flips his car like a s

The pacy style, and chemistry between the characters, worked well to inject both tension and humour, as the very serious and contained ultra-alpha male hero, Shane, is charged with delivering Cecily (his friend Dex’s sister) to New York, after she escapes an abusive relationship.

As events unfold, the true nature of Dex’s work is revealed, and as well as discovering Shane’s soft-centre, Cecily also learns more about the man she’d escaped from, when she realises that he’d been using her to get inf
I got this book because I have a prime membership, and if there was ever a reason to keep my prime (and boy do I need one today) having found this gem is one.

I was hooked from the first page, I love these sort of books. I love these sort of men (even though I shouldn't). Its so cliché and yet I can't help but love this book. Its so hot and I just didn't want to stop reading it when I started this morning.

Really great first book and I'm already excited for another (even though I'm reading this b

I so enjoyed this book, it really captures your imagination and pulls you along with the story. It has ; alpha heroes, plucky spirited heroines, sexy romance and thrilling danger. The main female character has spirit and backbone. While the alpha hero is everything you want in a book boyfriend . The author introduces several other characters setting up for further books but this doesn't detract from the main storyline, it just makes me look forward to seeing what happens next.

brilliant and entertaining

This is intense, dramatic, romantic and amusing. Cecily is naive, brave and vulnerable. Shane is tough, stubborn and romantic. Together they are steamy, entertaining and fun. The storyline is brilliant and gripping. The characters are intriguing and amusing. It had my complete attention from the first page to the last. I can't wait to read about the rest of the Kings. Cecily and Shane are compatible in more ways than one. Their upbringing, friends and their definition of what is normal. Cecily doesn't care. She has found the one person who makes her feel safe. Shane still believes he doesn't deserve her. He will always keep her safe. Love the ending.

a good start to a new series. some thrilling moments. I know HEA s are expected, but I think a lot of the Thrill is lost when you know all will be OK. Yeah I know it's the genre but, just for once it would be good to include a sad ending which would keep one on edge for the rest of the series. OK I'll stick to Thrillers pure and simple , I can't have it all. Or can I?

Saved by a mercenary

Shane is a great catch, but his life and work are dangerous. Cecily is just running away from a very bad relationship and her brother Dex sends Shane to collect her as he's recovering from a knee operation. This is just the start of one big rollercoaster ride for all three of them. Good story, well written and kept me turning the pages.

Not badly written, but it was a little too much porn for me. It seems to go from talking about f**kin' each other to why they can't be together. Then more explicit sex. There's very little suspense. If it was not an audible book I would not have finished it.

Good book, bad beginning

I enjoyed this book and found there was a good combination of suspense and romance. That said the book was difficult to get into as Shane was very rude at the beginning yet she kept thinking how nice he was.

This was like a rollercoaster with its ups and downs. I felt so much with these characters that I couldn't put the book down. The espionage and the mercenaries were so cool that it just added to an awesome story.

All I will say is I am glad I didn't pay for this book. The first 80% of the book wasn't much fun to read and although the final 20% is better, it didn't warrant moving to a 3* book.
