Like this 1st in series, liked the characters and plot was intriguing. Lots of references to older memorabilia (Jimmy Stewart, old movies, etc.) Recommended.

This is the third book in the Pat Ruger series. In this one, Pat decides to go and surprise his ex-Amanda, who left to take a promotion in New York City. As he gets there, she is just getting ready to go out the door! She has a case in Syracuse, upper New York, where the leader of the Oneida (Native American) tribes has been receiving death threats and now the FBI have been called in. Pat has acted as a consultant for the FBI before and Amanda asks him to join her.

By the time they reach the trib

What a super enjoyable, entertaining, and fast reading mystery by Jack Huber in this third book of the Pat Ruger series. I especially like that his main PI character is so human, relatable, and more important to me, believable. I like that the character can actually get injured and have to recover, rather than being able to keep on going and going like the energy battery rabbit. What a heavy load of emotional highs and lows is dropped on the readers as they follow Pat Ruger through his determina ...more

Pat Ruger: Native Species #3 - This story picks up in the same scene where Shuffle ends. As bad as Caribbean was with the Hollywood copying, this story is pathetic. Formatting is inconsistent, which makes reading it difficult. There is an extra space between each sentence, even in the mid of one person’s dialog, which is too Hollywood. AND, every female, especially the young ones, wants sex with Pat. Give me a break. What happened to the guy who wrote For Hire? Get him back, two out of three boo ...more

Pat Ruger is a retired detective who goes to visit his ex-fiance Amanda. Amanda is working a case, and instead of going back home or letting her go on working her case alone he works with her. When a tribal leader is killed, things start to get interesting for the both of them. Can they find out who the killer is and why? Read the book to find out. I would like to thank Reading Deals for a copy of this story. The review is done voluntarily and of my own opinion.

This book has a good storyline but I just don't " feel" the characters. It probably didn't help to start at this, the third book, I think that may be the problem - I'd have to read something else by this author to see if its just me..... It was an ok read, not over the top, however.
