Eternal Soul by Karimah Colden was a mysterious and adventurous read for me. The author contacted me and the book seemed to have an interesting plot, so I said - yes, I would love to read it.

Reign is a very private person and keeps everything close to her heart. She is a descendant of powerful hoodoo magick and her family has some dark secrets.

One day, her father appears in her life, which happens very rarel
True Rating 3.5 stars!

Eternal Soul is told from Reign Elise La’ Roche’s point of view as she lives out her everyday life. She has worked hard to make a name for herself as an artist and as owner of a successful art gallery and her life was moving in the perfect direction. Lately, though, Reign had a feeling like she was being watched and for some reason her estranged father had been trying to get in touch with her. Reign’s father had always tried to get her to accept her ancestry but she hadn’t

The book started wonderfully with a haunting mystery weaved subtly in the words. Reign was a painter with a successful art gallery, with good friends, blind dates and basically a peaceful life. Till she got the sense of someone watching her. Her father was a great Creole priest, and Reign herself was the descendant of powerful hodoo magick. The story dealt with the transformation of Reign and the acceptance of her powers.

My first book by Karimah Colden, the story was very exciting to begin with

In Eternal Soul, Karimah Colden introduces an eerily alluring world filled with curses, secrets, power, danger, and magick. A wickedly wild ride, Colden doesn't disappoint and takes you on a heart-stopping and thrilling adventure as you discover the dark and terrifying world of voodoo and hoodoo.

I can’t recall if I’ve ever read anything with voodoo or hoodoo magick before and I’m also not too familiar so I really enjoyed reading about that in this book. The magical system a

Having married into a Cajun family, I am pleased as punch to read and review a book that involves the subculture of the geographical location so important to my husband’s relatives. This story has about everything someone could want in a supernatural thriller and was deliciously spiced. Want to know more? Well, make sure you answer the door for your father, be kind to the ghosts in your life, and try not to say the disparaging things you feel about nasty relatives (even if they are dead). While the main characters are adults, this book is more than appropriate for a teenage audience. I learned a lot about African culture and I was fascinated to discover the history and powers of hoodoo magic, as well as the many religious syncretisms in New Orleans. Eternal Soul is not only a fantastical novel but an educational one, too. The writing and language was simply beautiful and elegantly descriptive. I loved observing Reign's transformations and embracement of her bloodline. See my full ...more

What Made Me Read It I was sent a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

The Good "Eternal Soul" is the first book in the urban fantasy trilogy "Eternal". Set in Louisiana, New Orleans, the dialogs are rich with Louisiana Creole dialect and descriptive examples of Cajun and Creole cuisine to highlight that particular culture. The story follows the main character Reign La' Roche from her point of view, through the process of awakening her latent paranormal abilities and starting to lea

I had too high expectations going into this book. Turns out, knowing nothing about Voodoo/Hoodoo really makes reading Eternal Soul feel more like an assignment than pleasant experience.

Part urban fantasy, part romance, this one is full of magic, mysticism, secrets, and danger. The romance feels a bit like a soul-mates type story and happens rather quickly, but Krystian has a secret that looms over them even as he and Reign get to know each other. I was a little disappointed with that secret - given everything else in this tale, I really expected more, and I'm not sure I get Reign's reaction. I did enjoy the magical side of this book, and I particularly liked the history of Rei ...more

Eternal Soul grabbed me on the first page & didn’t let go. I was reading along on my Kindle and nearly had a heart attack when there were no more pages to turn. This book is the definition of a cliffhanger!

I felt like I was in New Orleans. I savored the sights, sounds, and smells of the area. I have never been to New Orleans, so this is quite an accomplishment from the author.

The storyline has drama, paranormal, voodoo, romantic attractions, family curses, and more. It is difficult to talk much

My name is Karimah Colden, and from a very young age I recognized that I had a gift for writing poetry and description. For many years I focused on these innate skills solely in secret. However, life, and time, allowed my creative powers to grow and evolve into that of a novelist.
