What good is a great-looking Ferrari that cannot race? What good is a smartphone with low battery life? What good are great-looking sports shoes that cannot last a marathon? These are just good-looking objects with low or zero performance. The same goes for our body.A diet plan may help you lose weight; a gym routine may help you with a great-looking physique—but that does not necessarily translate into a stronger, healthier you. In fact, you may not even need the gym; you can pick a sport you enjoy, even something as simple as running. Take charge of your health and achieve your fitness goals in a way that improves not just the way you look, but also your performance and quality of life—just like an athlete! This book will help you eat, exercise, think, look and most importantly, perform like an athlete. There is an athlete in all of us, and it is time to bring that athlete out.
An easy read. The author could have added references - it does cast doubt on many of the things mentioned. While I tried to cross-check some of the statements, it doesn't make sense to go through everything. In terms of gaining more knowledge about nutrition and health - it is definitely useful. I easily picked up on things I have meaning to understand for a very long time - very basic things in fact like - macros and micros. It is also useful in that it tells you about how your body behaves, physiologically speaking when you workout and eat protein or when you eat carbs before or after a workout, or when you should not be consuming carbs. Helpful overall, but I still want to do some fact checking.
A decent primer on an athlete's lifestyle, fitness and nutrition. There are a lot of things in this book that a beginner would find interesting. But don't expect much more than that from the book. To design a training schedule and nutrition plan for yourself you'll still need help from experts. Which also makes me think if this was an advertisement from the author asking athletes to hire her for professional help.
It's an easy read though, and I finished it in one seating.
It is a great book for Beginners to get insights into fitness lifestyle which involves eating right, proper workout and healthy recovery. The book provides a step-by-step approach to the beginners to plan their diet and sports activities. The author also gave a detailed explanation of sports activities and appropriate diets using timetables and charts.
This gives a clear view on nutrition that is absolutely necessary to be an athletic life style. If you are into any sports ,or trying to stay fit and healthy ,this book is for you.
The book is great and helps to get the insight of what we eat and how it affects our body. Nor very technical and neither very shallow, perfect fit for an anyone looking forward to upgrading his lifestyle and incorporate healthier practices.
