Former supernatural covert agent Alyse Winters is determined to identify the party responsible for her handler's death. Unfortunately, local problems continue to sidetrack her when humans start committing crimes while under a spell and a link to her past shows up in need of help...or is it revenge?

I just discovered that there will only be four books in the Magic Bullet Series. I have to admit that I'm quite disappointed because because I think there is so much more to be told and the relationship between Alyse and one Captain Wonderful is just one of those stories that needs exploring. "Demon Hunt" is another incredible read in the series. Once again I found myself on a nonstop roller coaster ride of mystery and intrigue.
This time, humans are being mind controlled into crime. The first attempt found three of them trying to rob a bank where Alyse and Pinky were returning property to a client's safety deposit box. When she gets the Protectorates mind control specialist involved everyone is on high alert. Then, a woman named Katrien approaches Alyse for aid. She has escaped the horrific confines of slavery in Aladdin's sadistic harem and she wants help putting him out of business.
On a personal side of things, Flynn has reached a critical point in his relationship with Tessa, Fatah has broken up with Rocco and is now dating one of his business associates, we get to meet Reed's brother and he and Alyse finally go out on a date. Oh, what fun! I am anxiously awaiting the release of the fourth and final book and already lamenting the end of the series. One thing for sure, I will definitely be checking out other work from A. Blithe.
While Alyse is still trying to figure out who burned her and why as well as figuring out who killed her handler, Jamie, spelled humans are committing crimes with no memory of why. She also has to deal with a fellow djinni who has escaped from Aladdin, the person she was after when burned. Her friends are having interesting love lives – Farah has changed from one mobster to another, Mix has a surprising new lover and Flynn has some surprises too. Then of course there is the relationship with Reed – there’s an unusual date, and a lot of discussion. This book has action, mystery, humour and surprises. I can’t say the ending was a big surprise as I had my suspicions about some of the things that happened, but there was one that did really surprise me. This was another great addition to this series that I thoroughly enjoyed.
Since I don't normally write reviews unless I have something specific to say, here's the break down of how I rate my books...
1 star... This book was bad, so bad I may have given up and skipped to the end. I will avoid this author like the plague in the future.
2 stars... This book was not very good, and I won't be reading any more from the author.
3 stars... This book was ok, but I won't go out of my way to read more, But if I find another book by the author for under a dollar I'd pick it up.
4 stars... I really enjoyed this book and will definitely be on the look out to pick up more from the series/author.
5 stars... I loved this book! It has earned a permanent home in my collection and I'll be picking up the rest of the series and other books from the author ASAP.
A very interesting book. A bit slow through the beginning and middle, and not enough interaction between Alyse and Reed, but it ended with a banger. One that included a big surprise. I was certain I had a certain secret figured out - and I was totally wrong. That really doesn’t happen often so hats off to the author for that alone. I like the humor and the bunch of cast very much. The only thing I still mind is that Alyse continues to be without powers. I finally want to see her in her full powers and true self, not that bound version. I really hope we get to see that in the final book - and not just at the end but at least in the middle of it by the latest. Sadly I don’t think I‘ll get my wish. We‘ll see.
I'm loving how much Alyse is, and continues, to grow as a character. She's quickly becoming a character I legit WANT to root for. I also loved the twists that, I'll admit, did not see coming. Well, I didn't see the end twists coming! And they're pretty crazy! I'm also hoping she'll give Captain Angel Face (still my fav nickname for him) a true chance, they're pretty great together--true story! Enough of this though: This series is awesome, the action is jam-packed, the characters are amazing, and the humor and slow-burn romance were EVERYTHING! Now, time to jump into the last book!
This series continues to be compelling. The reveal of who "the Dragon" is was surprising, and fit in well with the over-all series arc. Everyone's romantic relationships had forward momentum in this installment as well (Alyse and Reed, Farah and Luciano, Flynn and Tessa). The main story plot involving the arrival of Katrien was very well-plotted, and while I guessed some of the outcome, I didn't have everything figured out before the reveal. Another wonderful book by Annabel Chase. I will immediately be starting the last book in the quartet, Soulfire.
I read this on Kindle Unlimited using Alexa text-to-speech app.
Blythe has done it again. The Magic Bullet novels are great and this one is no exception. A heroine that you can root for. Surprising plot twists are a staple. There are so many lovable characters. A lot of so called acclaimed writers spend a lot of time painting a picture with their writing. But when I read a book, I let my mind build a world through the writer's words. I don't know if this makes sense or not but sometimes less is more. Whatever the case, I plan on reading more of her books
The story continues as Alysa tries to make good in a world new to her...
There's no lack of action in this one. Annabel continues to weave a story that has its moments of fun, mixed with moments of mayhem. It is an entertaining read, and sure beat anything on the tube if you just want to kick back and relax at the end of the day, checking your brain at the door.
Thanks for an enjoyable read, Annabel. Loved the highs and lows and the roller coaster world of Alysa twists and dives in her continued struggle for existence. (No notes on this one.)
When a Marid djinn shows up claiming to have escaped from Aladdin, Alysa tries to be honest about her desires and abilities. On the one hand, she would love to free the djinn Aladdin is holding captive, but on the other hand, her powers are locked away.
The woman doesn’t really believe her, no matter how open Alysa is. So stuff keeps getting in the way of getting out of the cuffs.
Holy smokes! I’m so in love with this series. It’s not just one thing either. The characters and their growth. The amazing friendships and little lessons in there. The mysteries. The surprise friendships from those I thought would be enemies. It it just got real…. This ending was mind blowing. I didn’t see that coming. For real. And it literally affects everyone. Either everybody lives or every body dies. I can’t wait for book 4 to see it play out.
Some great progress on the overall series plot line. Pinky is in trouble again. Alyse gets in trouble again because of her incompetent investigative skills and makes dumb decisions romantically. If it weren’t for the progress and revelations on the overall series plot line, this novel would get 1 star for the ridiculousness of the characters. So cliched.
Alyse finds out more about her own character, although she tries to deny it. Betrayal and love for others surprise her. What would she do if she had ultimate power? I like the action, snarky humor, and romance. Will she and Captain Reed ever hook up? I look forward to the next book.
This book packs a punch! Alyse goes through a lot with this one. There are so many irons burning and Alyse is trying to do it all but there are limits and sometimes, you just have to call in the calvary.
Absolutely great plot development for the series and great mystery solved.
For a Djinn stuck in a human body she sure can find a lot of trouble. And that is exactly what she does...Between her knowledge and her friends never know what is going to happen next.
Well, this was awesome. Alyse has really changed since the first two books, even though she has lost her powers. She came back to her roots (well rather forcefully and against her will) and reconnected with her friends and found new ones and oh gosh! Love too.
I love everything about this series. The writing, characters, world and action are perfect, I have no complaints. Well, only a tiny one and I’m ready for Alyse to man up in her love life! However, it’s still so good and a must read!
I enjoyed this novel and the introduction of new characters as well as the return of characters from the previous novel. I did find a part of the conclusion to be out of character for the heroine. I look forward to the next book.
A supernatural version of burn notice. A great cast of characters with majors genies and Neflin have angels. As well as humans mobsters and lots of pop culture references. Fun and entertaining check it out
Thus book is hard to put down. Annabel Chase is an excellent author. There is a beautiful heroine and a handsome hero. There's danger, romance, adventure, and magic. You'll love all her books.
Another exciting entry in Alyse's quest to figure out the mysteries that are plaguing her, while also taking care of new issues that arise in her home territory. It will be interesting to see how everything comes together in the final book!
Keeps getting better and better! I thought Ember or Eden or Mia were my favorites until I met Alyse! The strong female characters are awesome and I can’t wait for the next one.
This was an enjoyable third installment. One mystery from the previous books is resolved, friendships are strong, and Alyse is getting closer to her answers. I love how she is becoming a more selfless person without her djinn powers. I can’t wait to read the finale!
This story keeps getting better, the characters' interactions, the mystery of the evil mastermind and how the main characters were affected by her identity, and the painstaking slow love story. Ready for the final installment.
It's fine, no big draw one way or another. There are parts that are pretty enjoyable and parts that are a bit frustrating. A few surprises are unveiled - some were expected and some were not. Bits of action and a few cute conversations. I'll finish the series since there is one book left.
I am enjoying the series more as the characters grow and the plot evolves. Though there are sexual references, it is a clean book as far as no actual pages or scenes. I am excited to read the last book and see how it all concludes.
Fun series! Although I feel the magicuffs situation has kind of dragged longer than necessary, I'm still into this series and am excited to see what happens with Alyse and Reed!
Seems to get better and better, each book. Alyse is growing emotionally, but not totally convinced it’s a good thing.. can’t wait to read of her next exploits.
