Second Chance Brides is a delightful collection of nine historical romance stories, and they will be keeping you reading long into the night.
Whether you have just a few minutes, or several hours to read, this book should fit the bill, you can quickly read one, or continue on to the next.
These stories span decades, and not only do they provide a great time to get lost in; they offer many historical facts, which I loved. From on to the next they varied as to the time period, and kept my interest r

A noteworthy collection of inspirational historical romances, set between the Revolutionary War up to World War 2. Women and men who find their lives changed by a new encounter or reacquaintance, get a second chance at lasting romance.
Some of the stories had a real depth and seriousness, set during a time of war or great difficulty. Some of the women found themselves backed into a marriage of convenience out of need, while others fought to overcome prejudice and societal norms to be with the pe

The Second Chance Bride Collection

Nine brides are given a second chance at love in these nine short stories. Each story is written by a different author and is tied with the other stories by the theme of second chances, faith, Love, and family. Each novella showcases the individual authors writing style and gives you a glimpse into what a full length would be like. The stories are perfect for when you only have a short time to read and want to get lost in romance and sweet plots. I enjoyed all o

I seldom read short stories collection, but I found this book collection enjoyable. The storyline and characters were great in all the stories, but my favorite short story is "Married by Mistake" by Author Laura V. Hilton. All the writers are great and I would read any of their books. This is a fantastic book to read, especially if you're looking for an author to read.

I received a complimentary copy from NetGalley. This review is one hundred percent my opinion.

While I loved each and every story here, I'm going to focus on my favorite - Fanned Embers by Angela Breidenbach.

This was such a great story. I loved Julianna and Lukas and how their characters came together. Julianna was stubborn and didn't really seem to like where she was. At all. Lesson learned here? Sometimes the Lord has you right where He wants you - and you just have to accept that! I love how Lukas automatically became her protector. I pretty much liked him instantaneously at that point

Lovers of historical romance will certainly find something to enjoy in this set of nine stories that span from the Revolutionary War to World War 2. Men and women are given a second chance at love while growing their faith.
In the first story, Love in the Crossfire, Gretchen’s fiancé left for war and never returned. She lives with her father and they try to survive while keeping their small farm running. When Jake, from the enemy’s army, arrives and hides in

Love in the Crossfire by Lauralee Bliss - this novella hinged on the varied allegiances among colonists during the revolutionary war. We hear about brother turning against brother during the civil war, but it never occurred to me that it would have happens during the revolutionary war as well. The love story seemed to go too fast to be realistic, but the writing did give me a new perspective. 3 stars

Love in the Crossfire by Lauralee Bliss, it was interesting to see read about the war that led to america becoming a country.
Fanned Embers by Angela Breidenbach was one of the adventurous ones and what stood out for me was not prejudging people before getting to know them.

This sweet collection of short stories about second chances for nine women set in history from 1776-1944 was a fun pool side read. Each story moves quickly and at first I felt rushed to get to know the characters and didn't like that things moved so unrealistically fast. Do people really fall in love so quickly? Is that real love or just initial attraction? But I supposed that's the nature of short stories. Once I put that into consideration I enjoyed each story more. I really liked that I could ...more

I received a copy of this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

It's been awhile since I read short stories. I'm much more of a novel reader, mostly because I like there to be plenty of room for the characters to grow and fall in love. Unfortunately, several of the stories in this book were constrained by the length. I liked all of the plots of the stories, and the characters were almost all appealing, but I felt that as a whole, most of the stories didn't have enough room to real

Barbour Books is the most prolific publisher of novella anthologies, and this is another one of their quality collections. These olios are best for reading during rainy afternoons or when the reader has a spare hour.

These brides may be a little older, long in the tooth, and a bit more weathered by life. They may be widowed, or jilted, or have lost a fiance through death. Some of the novellas take place during or after one of the wars the US has been involved in. Some of the men are needing wive

In this 9-novella collection, readers are introduced to women who get a second chance at love over the course of more than a century of history in the United States. Ms. Stockton, I am astonished by the amount of equine inaccuracies present in the first two pages of your story. Please, please, do some research before you write about a subje ...more

How can a romance reader not love this collection? It is the best collection yet. I really enjoyed the stories from Angela Breidenbach with her amazing historical setting in Montana/ Idaho I was instantly reminded of the beauty for heart and soul in this part of the country. Pam Hillman gave another perspective of Montana and I thought she designed a character that was very unique, not usually used.

Overall, a great collection and reminder that we all get second chances when we least expect them

An amazing collection of novellas, and an interesting read written by popular Christian authors. It was a lot of fun to read these stories about women who think that their chance of love is gone, only to find love in God's timing. I greatly enjoyed this collection of second chance love stories. I will sometimes have trouble with short stories, but this collection held my attention and was a wonderful adventure.
