I don't read many board books, but when I saw the title of this one, I just knew I had to have it. Look at these opening lines:

Read to me
and watch me grow.
Tell me all
the tales you know.

For in this life,
I'll need a map.
Let it begin
upon your lap.

And this is just the first page. What a nice invitation/reminder to new parents and parents alike.

"For in this life, I'll need a map."

Wow.

READ TO ME is a sweet board book that is an invitation for cozy-time, lap time, bedtime reading. The rhyming text is calm and soothing and will be one that children will want to have read to them over and over. Fairy tales, nursery rhymes, picture books, family stories, and songs are celebrated as well as the process of reading which is explained in simple terms. The illustrations are exceptional with diverse characters of different ethnicities reading in global locations.
I love this verse:
For in this life,
I'll need a map.
Let it begin
upon your lap.
This lovely book would make a wonderful gift for new babies as it is one that will encourage parents, grandparents, and caregivers to experience the joy of reading together.

This is a sweet poem about family members reading to a small child. It talks about reading fairy takes and such in any place, but it repeats the idea of reading throughout the lines. This would be good to read to calm children down.

Good book to read with infants and toddlers that reinforces the importance of reading (good for adults to remember why reading with your children is so important).

Heartwarming... Especially when hearing my young reader read it to me.
