Safely planted in a beautiful pot, Little Tree lives a comfortable, happy-enough life, shaped by what others expect her to be. A sudden change forces her to question who she will become without them. With the help of a loving groundskeeper and a strong new friend, she learns a life-changing truth about herself and faces the choice between living a life of comfort and a life of purpose -- struggles and all. Written in simple yet powerful language, The Tale of Little Tree will speak directly to your soul and invite you to embrace the challenge of choosing courage over comfort.
This book was so inspired! I feel so glad to have read it! It is a beautiful fable that I needed to read and remember. Highly recommend for a gift to anyone who is going through some growth. Which is all of us!
The book struck me as powerful and poignant. It's not often you can find a book that will resonate with a variety of age groups. A young child could read this with awe and wonder as they discover their full potential in the life they will be leading. Read it again as an adult and you begin to question if you yourself are living life as a Bonsai tree or more than you've allowed yourself to become. Perhaps reading it in another twenty years would allow me to reflect on my life and the choices I've made. So often we go through the motions of life in our comfort zone because it is "pretty". It's the way it "should be". In reality, life is messy. Things are perfect and our roots are meant to expand far beyond the walls of our pot of life.
Shalon's words are brilliantly crafted and inspirational. Definitely an excellent read and I'd recommend it to anyone and everyone. It left me pondering all the "dreams" I have for my life, but the massive amounts of uncertainty surrounding them. It inspired me to try and reach for those dreams and ask myself if I am truly living up to my full potential.
A sweet story of a little tree who learns how to grow even though it its difficult. Parallels life's struggles and those who help along the way.
This story would be great as inspiration to anyone who is facing challenges. It could be used for teaching in a youth or young adult setting or as a personal read. As a 'tree' myself I love the symbolism and encouragement to leave my comfort zone and accomplish more.
Touching little allegory written by one of my high school friends. This is the type of book that I could imagine having rough-cut, thick parchment paper and woodcuts with a Japanese art theme.
