This book was provided for free by the author in exchange for an honest review.

Isaac Bridges is a closeted, married ad executive who wants revenge. His father started the company at which he works but signed it over while ill, so his partner, Silas Denton took over. Silas Jr is gay, and though he also works at the company, it seems that Silas Sr will turn over the company to Isaac just because he disapproves of his son's sexual orientation. Isaac, despite being gay himself, decides to stay in the closet and marry his best friend. For over a decade he lives this way with the hope of getting his fathers company back.

The story starts when Jayden DeMario joins the company as an intern. He is described as being incredibly attractive to both men and women. He is also poor and comes from a bad situation that he has risen out of due to the kindness of strangers and his own grit. He is put under Isaac's tutelage when he joins the company and instantly both men are attracted to each other. Most of the story focuses upon the issues when an older closeted man and a younger ambitious man fall in love.

As a romance, I liked the story. There were a few issues that arose and then never were addressed again that bothered me. The author did a great job of detailing how a relationship could develop between an older boss and a younger worker in the setting of working together. I love seeing characters rise above adversity to make something of themselves, so Jayden was a particularly interesting character. I think my issue was that he was too perfect - he came to the company and instantly he was doing such a great job, and he was so attractive that a clothing company would ask him to model. Isaac also seemed to be a little two dimensional, and I really wanted to get more into the meat of his revenge, but it was handled somewhat superficially. Overall, if you want a romance with multiracial characters and an unequivocal HEA, this would be a good story for you.

I was given a copy of this book for free in return for an honest review.

I'm giving this book 2.5 - 3 stars.
Jayden is a young man about to finish his college education and has taken up a paid internship with a large advertising company. His life goal is to see him and his foster Momma in a safer neighbourhood. He has a great work ethic and wants to make his way up in the world.

Isaac seems to have the perfect life. He is an executive at the advertising company and married to a beautiful woman. But it's all fake, he's married to his best friend not his lover and his goal is to take over the company he thinks has been stolen from his father.

When Isaac meets Jayden he decides he must have him knowing that might risk the facade is put up. But Jayden won't compromise his goals for anything.

Sounds like a good set up yeah, so why didn't I give it more stars? Well I hated Isaac. He was selfish to both Jayden and his wife (Yes she knows he's gay but they're supposed to be best friends but he never treated her like a friend). He thinks he is God's gift to men and the fact that wants Jayden means Jayden should fall down at his feet, thankful. He doesn't care about anyone else's possible consequences of his affair but his own. Especially when he first meets Jayden, he's very patronising, calling him Son and Boy, just to assert his position over him. He's possessive when he has no right to be.
Although I enjoined the flow of the book and most the writing, some of the dialogue just seemed so fake and unrealistic. Also some of the scenes just wouldn't happen in real life
I also didn't like the conclusion. After sitting back and thinking about it for this review, I can see why that conclusion was made so the MCs could be together. But throughout the book Jayden, who made the decision, was never included in the discussions , nor were we told second-hand that he'd had that discussion, so I don't understand why he made that decision.

Overall, I think the pretense of this book is great, but my personal dislike for the MC, and my own inability to fathom why certain things happened means that's why this book doesn't rate too highly for me.

(This story was received free in return for an honest review via the Goodreads Don't Buy My Love Review Progam.)

3.5 stars

A slow-moving draw set in Chicago at an advertising agency between older, closeted, married to his BFF for image's sake, Issac, and his new intern, a college senior, Jayden.

Jayden character was wholesome and heart-warming. Thrown out by his dad at 15 when he told him he was gay, he's taken in and reared by three senior citizens, who he considers his true parents. The love he feels for them and in his prayers can be felt throughout the story. Issac, on the other hand, I felt was a selfish man who finally learns that you can't always have what you want, give and take are needed and necessary in life and relationships.

The writing was smooth and almost flawless (one blaring error of Jayden moving in front of Jayden - how do you miss that? - and a few of little consequence).

I didn't care for Isaac calling Jayden: son or my boy---a little too old man squeamish for me, especially since he wants Jayden to feel comfortable. Personally that would turn me off --- this isn't the 50's. Debra's (the BFF) relationship with her new man is sort of brushed under the rug and left hanging, again weird, since Issac made such a point of hating the new man. Would have liked to see Isaac actually meet and accept him before dissolving his marriage to her. In other words actually follow through on what he says at the beginning of the book.

The inter-racial nature of the couple was inconsequential except in regards to looks. And I was a little disappointed about how they jumped into bed together - felt rather rushed.

Engrossing enough that I read the entire book in one day (although not one sitting), but not exciting enough for me. Somewhat predicable and totally set up in the first two chapters.

This was one of my first book from Rawiya and I really liked it.
This is the story of Isaac, a gay man married to his female best friend, and Jayden, a graduating student that has the chance to work as an intern in Isaac’s important advertisement agency.
They meet and spark flies but nothing is going to be easy. First, Jayden has a painful past and he wants to succeed with his job because he wants to take care of his adopted, and now very sick, mother and take her away from their “not so great” neighborhood. Second, Isaac is out only to his best friend/wife Debra and he doesn’t want to lose his chance to become partner of the ads agency his father and his partner founded years ago. His father is dead and Isaac wants to take his father’s place.
Jayden wants Isaac and Isaac wants Jayden but Jayden doesn’t want to lose the chance to learn and have the job he has always dreamed of because he’s involved with his boss: he wants to earn his success and not being someone that has privileges because he sleeps with his mentor/boss.
There are different kinds of love, pain, sadness, heartbreaking all in this book but don’t worry, they will have their HEA.
Something that bothered me a bit was Isaac calling Jayden “kid” most of the times: calling the man you want kid? Really disturbing.
But, like I said before, I really enjoyed this lovely story and Rawiya showed us that we don’t need “big” words to write a very deep and good book.
I give 4.5 to 5 stars.

I recieved this book for free in exchange for an honest review.

The blurb and cover is what got my attention but the story is what lost it. The blurb perfectly states what is going to happen in the book but really the situation wasn't that dramatic or elements of it was quickly drop for the romance. The book is really about a closeted men in a lavender marriage and who's all about revenge until he meets Jayden. Jayden is college student looking to get this internship at Isaac's company to jumpstart a goal to get his adopted family into a better life.

I felt that the excessive reference to Jayden's attractiveness was bit out of control especially the women in the office. I get that he is attractive but having almost everybody he came into contact with bluntly mentioning it was OTT. It seems that all of Jayden's success was all because of his looks not about what intelligently he could bring to the table. But i did like the MC Jayden and especially his interaction with his family.

But I must say I wasn't here for Isaac and the way he tried to manipulate Jayden. I wasn't believing his love for Jayden if you consistently connect the physical benefit of this relationship. The use of referring words like "boy" and "kid" to Jayden by Isaac just age Isaac and added a bit of ick factor.

Overall the slow burn work for me but even one likable character could not hold this book against so many unlikable characters.

Review Excerpt:

Something About Jayden is a romantic novel that is a mixture between fairy tale and real life. Jayden is an awkward account intern to Denton & Associates who lands the internship of his dreams. He is intelligent, mild mannered, beautiful and driven. His is a physique the grabs the attention of both men and women alike. His is a mind that grabs the attention of Advertisers around.

He is the man that grabs at the heart of one Isaac Bridges, Jayden's boss.

A review by The Blogger Girls.

This sounded pretty interesting from the blurb. I love reading about closeted guys finally making it out of said closet, so thought I would give this a try.

Unfortunately, this turned out to be a bit different from what I was hoping for. Isaac is actually married, albeit for convenience. He and his wife have been together for over 10 years, but they are each still trying to find the right partner. They each have their reasons, but this aspect was a bit odd for me.

Anyway, Issac is biding his time waiting to be handed the reins of the company his father helped build but which is now being run by his father’s business partner, who happens to be the father of Isaac’s rival, Silas, Jr. Silas, Sr. is a bit homophobic, hence Isaac remaining in the closet. But Silas, Jr. is out and it turns out Silas Sr. doesn’t have quite as big a problem with it as Isaac first thought.

In the meantime, they hire Jayden as an intern, and basically everyone in his vacinity wants him, including Silas, Jr. and Isaac as well. Jayden, coming from a broken home and trying to make a better life out of the bad neighborhood he now lives, is hell bent on putting work first, much to the displeasure of his adoptive mother.

That’s the gist. What didn’t work for me was that most of this story is basically everyone’s situation being repeated over and over. Jayden constantly saying he isn’t looking for anyone and convincing his mother that he doesn’t need to find love, etc. Isaac is constantly rehashing his situation with being married and how his career plan is being played out (or falling apart). The wife is constantly pushing him to find someone while she does the same. And so on. I quickly lost interest but kept pushing on waiting for Isaac and Jayden to get together. But, by 60% it still had not happened, and at that point, I just couldn’t care if it ever did.

So, I think all of the repetitiveness and slow buildup to a meaningful or even sexual relationship with the MC’s was the downfall for me. It is most likely nothing more than a case of it was me, not you with this story. There are a lot of aspects I’m sure people will enjoy, such as the interracial relationship, so, if that interests you, or some of the other aspects, I urge you to give this a try.

Overall Impression: I did not finish

I liked this story more than I expected. Isaac, who is rather selfish and shallow at the beginning in my opinion, grows through the story until I was actually rooting for him. He's a businessman who's been living a lie - married to his female best friend, hooking up with strangers so a relationship won't stand in his way of his goal for revenge.

Jayden I liked much, much more. His relationship with the three people who took him in and became his family was a wonderful way to show his strengths and round him out as a character. His backbone and conviction is what won me over though.

The only downsides:
There were some errors in the story that were obvious, but nothing I wasn't able to overlook. Also, there were certain things that made me a little leery because they seemed so over the top - mainly how perfect Jayden was in his looks (EVERYONE wanted him) and how they had soooo much faith in him, even though he was just a young intern, that this large corporation was allowing him to give presentations in front of potentially large clients.

Overall, this may not have been a perfect story, but it was definitely sweet and I'll probably read it again.

I was fortunate enough to win a copy of Something about Jayden by Rawiya recently. I was surprised by the book, as it is a sweet story, unlike the Mon frere series. The two MCs are an advertising executive and his college intern. While both are attracted to each other, the intern will not date someone more senior in the ad agency, a wise move. The executive is still closeted, even in a marriage of convenience to convince everyone he is straight. There is job angst, family angst, but the two find a happy solution to their dilemma. Without giving too much away, it is a very realistic resolution, not some fairy-tale answer that would not work IRL. I was so caught up by the story that I read it in one night, as I did not see how they could find their HEA. A very enjoyable read.

Isaac is in the closet and in a marriage of convenience with his best friend. Jayden is a college student that is interning at Isaac's company. They both have an instant attraction to each other, however Jayden believes that Isaac is happily married. After working together for awhile Isaac outs himself to Jayden. Jayden feels betrayed that he has been lied to and refuses to have a relationship with Isaac since he works with him. When Jayden has some family health issues it causes him to rethink his priorities and he asks Isaac to help him.

Isaac is an exec at an advertising agency. He is gay but currently in a fake marriage.
One day Jayden arrives as an intern and Issac wants him. Only trouble is that Jayden is not going to mix business with pleasure.
Issac sets about wooing him and finally the two of them get together.

I enjoyed this book but large parts of the story reminded me of another book I had read.
There isn't a lot of angst over Jayden and Issac getting together. It's nice because you see of the pairs home life. Issac with his fake wife and Jaydem with his foster mother.
A good read and a nice way to pass a few hours.

I enjoyed this story but did not love it. I was so exited about a story that was not about two white guys. I was disappointed that it was not more a part of the story. I found Jayden an interesting character with his tortured backgound, his love for his "real" family and his dedication to making life better for his Madre. My problem was with Isaac. He is so full of himself. He is certain that because he wants Jayden, it is a done deal. His fake wife is his best friend, but they do not discuss things as best friends do.

I still liked the read. There was enough there to make it interesting and to make me at least consider other works by this author.

This was a simple story with lots of potential. It introduced a new take into the married gay man with a lasting and love filled. relationship.

The characters and the plot were all over the place. The MCs relationship didn't become physical until the book hit 90% and the ending felt rush.

Overall, it was another mm romance. Extra points for the interracial couple.

I loved this book. It was an enjoyable read about two people with lives so different that you couldn't imagine it working for them. The attraction is hot and the build up a nice slow burn. Fun read!

All in all the plot of this book was okay. I can't say that it kept me wanting to know what would happen next. It wasn't a page turner for me. I think the hardest part of this book was the style of writing. It could have used a little more finesse and trust that a reader can figure some things out. There were times where there was unnecessary explanation.
The lavender marriage was realistic to me. There wasn't enough clarification as to the benefit of the marriage for the wife. It just wasn't believable.
The MC Isaac was hard to like at times. I'm not certain he redeemed himself for me. In general, his character was hard to connect with and feel something for. Jayden, I liked. He is the reason that I could keep going in the story.

I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review.

I don't know if it's a me thing or not, but the closeted thing was kinda annoying. Also, I really didn't like Issac. Not to mention it was kinda old man perviness going on with Issac and Jayden. It also felt a bit like infidelity, despite the agreement the Issac and beard-wife Debra.

Jayden seemed like a nice guy but I think he caved to Isaac's manipulations to make his adopted family happy.

Issac was conceited, possessive and just a plain jerk. He wasn't nice at all to Debra or Jayden either for that matter. He just seemed very patronizing and then suddenly Jayden and Issac had their HEA.

For what it's worth, I did like the writing style and the book was fairly tightly edited with only one or two minor mistakes.
