So oddly different from anything I have ever read previously. As a former Montrealer, the places and times and history were familiar and well remembered, but other than that I did not truly understand where the author was going with this book. I think he feels that Quebec is stagnating in its neverending referendum threats of separation from Canada, which always bubble on the back burner and keep its citizens from moving onwards and upwards.
