An enchanted dagger bearing a mysteriously familiar inscription pointed Fiona Chancellor to Ireland in search of her missing cousin. Then a midnight visit to Celtic holy ground slid her into the seventeenth-century—and into the arms of the most gorgeous male she had ever seen. But after one clash with the stubborn man, Fiona longed only for her twentieth-century comforts.
Instead she found herself pressed against Ian Maclaren, galloping across moonswept moors to escape death. The hot-blooded barbarian ordered her about as if she were a soldier. But his kisses left no doubt he thought of her as a woman, and soon she knew she would trade a thousand bubble baths for one of his sensual massages and give up chocolate to melt in one of his passionate embraces. For although she had traveled across three centuries into the past, it had taken only a moment for her heart to recognize she had met her match.

I really enjoyed reading this book - I stayed up well into the early morning hours to finish it! There was magic with the time-travel inducing standing stones and a dagger, a historical backdrop (Cromwellian England), a sarcastic heroine, a sexy strong hero, nasty creepy/hot villains, a likeable ragtag group of friends - and a lot of adventure! The semi insta-love between the H/h was acceptable to me, considering all that was going on within the story; the soulmate twist made more sense with the time-travel, perils the characters went through, etc. The ending had a different twist than the usual romance with a time-traveling angle (ie the heroine goes back to live in the hero's time). I would have liked to have gotten more of a feel for the hero's view on things at the end. The ending also seemed a bit rushed. Still, this was a well-written, fun read!
LOVED this time travel historical novel by Julie Moffett, as well as the one I just finished immediately before this one (A Double-Sided Blade). They can be read independently of each other, but both books deal with many of the same characters. The first one has Miles and Faith as the main characters, whereas this one involves Faith's cousin Fiona and Miles' best friend Ian. Both of these will take you through a magical journey through Ireland's tragic history during the 17th century, when Oliver Cromwell, betrayed his King, allowing England ravage and destroy Scotland and Ireland. But besides learning the history of the times, these are the perfect opportunity to suspend reality, and use your imagination. What would you do if you were suddenly swept 350 years into the past? The stories are compelling, and the characters are unforgettable! If you want to jump into an unforgettable escape ... you have found the books!

This is a follow-up book or rather a character expansion to Double Edged Blade...however I wasn't aware of this until I was sent back in time and could tell based on my unusual history of having read books out of sequence. This uncanny habit I have doesn't bother me as much as it used to because I simply end the book and ( in my mind) have the characters deciding to share how their story went. It's fun because sometimes there are things in the second book that I'm privy to be surprised by that are told in the first and I would have known. Anyway I thoroughly enjoyed this grand adventure...I literary slept only 3 hours and woke extra early so I could continue the story! Great fun, a lot of butterflies in your belly anxiety and much love!
This was a great sequel to the first book. Fiona searches for her cousin Faith not believing she is dead. She knows something is up because of an inscription that is on an old dagger that was Faith’s. The words were not there when Faith first showed the dagger to Fiona. She does go back to the same standing stones that Fairh travelled through and Fiona finds herself back in time in the very castle where Faith has been living. Of course along the way she meets Ian and helps to rescue Miles from the British. The pace is good and I loved the dialogue. I suggest reading the first book before reading this one.
I confess, I couldn't make it to chapter 7. The premise was interesting, although it sounded an awful lot like Outlander, by Diana Gabaldon. But after the two main characters were introduced, the book was all about sex: sexual tension, sexual attraction, sexual Indulgence... Frankly, I got bored. If you like books with an unrelenting focus on actual or contemplated hot sex, you will probably enjoy this book. Otherwise, I'd move on to something else. Like I did.
This story reminds me of the "Outlander" series. The characters were believable and likeable, sometimes in romance books, the characters can be annoying and stupid, totally not the case here. There was danger, suspense, and love, but not over the top. My only disappointment was at the end when the main characters came back to the future and then tried to get back, fate intervened, and they had to remain in the future. This however, is just personal preference,it was a good story.
I am totally intrigued by the idea of time travel/ & life experiences (LOVE Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series) - and Moonswept Moor captured my interest and kept it for the duration. Then I found the previous book (Double-Edged Blade) which sent me back to re-read Moonswept Moor. Both stories are totally involving, full of personalities & interesting details. There is romance, intrigue, & danger set in the British Isles during Cromwell's terror.
This is a great read for those who love historical fiction with great characters who make you care what happens to them. This author invites you into the 17th Century life and gives you a good feeling of how hard life really can be in that time. There is romance, saddness and exciting adventures told mainly through the eyes of Fiona who is swept back in time to fine her soulmate. Loved this book.
I knew the story must end at some point but I almost cried when I came to the last chapter! I will miss these people! They have become my friends. Wonderfully written story draws you in from the first sentence!
As I got into the book it was most interesting. I started getting into the history I got more and more into the swing of things. By the time I finished the book I promptly ordered the sequel to it.
Read this first, before Faiths story. Can be read as a standalone. I loved Ian and Fiona's story. The plot/storyline was interesting. I couldn't put this down. Definitely recommend.
Historical novels like this one are my favorite. The writer was able to draw me into the time period although the main character was accepted unbelievably quickly, I thoroughly enjoyed this book.
I would recommend this book to anyone looking for light reading material. The story moves along nicely and there isn’t any trouble keeping up, very pleasant read
I enjoyed the time travel story line. I did not need the sex scene..it was easy to skip though, and was not necessary. Other than that, I enjoyed the book.
The writing isn't awful. For the genre, it's typical for a Kindle Unlimited. There are some obvious editorial errors and a few spots where the writing is bad enough to make you wince, but nothing I can't usually muscle through in exchange for a few quiet hours spent reading a free book. It's not like I can't skim for a few pages until something interesting happens.
What makes it awful is the degree to which it is a PG13 version of the part of Outlander where they have to go rescue our favorite red-headed Scot from Prison. That is the book, only the bad guy isn't quite so depraved, and the good guy doesn't go to France to recover from his wounds.
Oh, and the red-headed daughter (yes, there is one, and she's one of the more interesting characters).
This book has time travel romance Irish history and of course steamy sex. It as a lot better than the first one. Faith is Fiona's cousin and they have a close bond. Faith and Ian are a feisty couple who remind me of the outlander characters. There is a twist I wont give it away, but it did make me a little sad.
The second book in a series from new-to-me author Julie Moffett (the previous book in the series has not been linked with a series title but Double Edged Blade does proceed this book and provides some background on the secondary characters). I did not read the first book but feel that Ms. Moffett does a fairly good job of explaining characters and the overarching plot line. Fiona is desperate to find her missing cousin and when a clue on a blade leads her to Northern Ireland Fiona will do what she can to uncover her cousin's whereabouts. Including exploring a rock circle and midnight and being thrown back in time and in to the arms of Ian. Ian isn't quite sure if he can trust this English woman but that doesn't stop his feelings from growing. An enjoyable read and I liked how Ms. Moffett was able to piece together history and modern times. I'm intrigued and hope to read the first book in the series soon. Fun read!
A little too explicit on sex scenes. The same scene could have been written with less obscenities and less sexual descriptions. Not all women in the "60's" had foul mouths and loose morals. The story was fun, but made me want to change history by eliminating some of the evil English commanders that have so mercilessly attacked both the Irish and the Scots. Why can't the English back off and mind their own country instead of being like Hitler and trying to rule the world.
Beautiful historical romance with a touch of magic
The author weaves magic, time travel, intrigue and history into a beautifully entwined story of courage and love. Set in a tumultuous period of Irish history, Julie Moffett's characters are vivid and wholly believable. I highly recommend this book to lovers of historical romance and a bit of magic.
Fiona gets thrown back in time to her cousin to help Dave her cousins husband and wakes to a hot scot . helping to free her cousin husband mikes out of jail her hot scot gets wounded and she finds a motherless child . I really wished things could've turned out different and won't say so I don't spoil it but. Still an great novel I'll be reading again
In the beginning I wanted to put down this book, but little by little as the story unfolds itself the story became one of courage, love and faith during turbulent times. Loved the characters, the time travel aspect, the era, the magic. And so will you!
