Cocktail #1-3

The Cocktail Collection: Wallbanger / Rusty Nailed / Screwdrivered

Rate this book
New York Times bestselling author Alice Clayton delights readers with the sexy, laugh-out-loud romances in the beloved Cocktail series! Don’t miss three hot and hilarious tales in the Cocktail Collection! In Wallbanger, Caroline didn’t hear things “go bump in the night”—she heard things go thump in the night. And it was always her neighbor’s headboard. So when the wallbanging threatens to literally bounce her out of bed, Caroline, clad in sexual frustration and a pink baby-doll nightie, confronts Simon Parker, her heard-but-never-seen neighbor. The tension between them is as thick as the walls are thin, and suddenly Caroline is finding she may have discovered a whole new definition of neighborly… In Rusty Nailed, Simon and Caroline find that playing house was never so much fun—or so confusing. With her boss on an extended honeymoon, Caroline’s working long hours to keep the interior design company running and her projects on deadline. And with Simon, her hotshot photographer boyfriend, gallivanting all over the world for his job, the couple is heavy-duty into "absence makes the heart grow fonder" mode. No complaints about the great reunion sex, though! But between Caroline’s crazy work schedule, Simon’s traveling, and house sitting for their friends, will they be able to make their relationship a priority? Screwdrivered brings us Viv Franklin, a tough-as-nails software engineer who designs programs and loves hospital corners, and also wants to be swept off her feet by her dream guy. So when a phone call with news of an inherited house brings her out to Mendocino, California, she suddenly finds her “knight in shining armor” selection growing. There’s a cowboy, one that ignites her loins. Because Cowboy Hank is totally loin-ignition worthy. But there’s also a librarian, Clark Barrow. And he calls her Vivian. Can tweed jackets and elbow patches compete with chaps and spurs? You bet your sweet cow pie. It’s like being forced to pick between Superman and Clark Kent! Really, how’s a girl to choose?

Nighties, Harvey Wallbangers, and Substantial Town.

I loved this collection of books! I haven't laughed this hard in a long time. The characters are absolutely beautiful and the banter and wit between this group was hysterical and heart warming to witness.

I truly don't understand the 4.5 star average. This is just not it - it's sloppy, feels a bit lazy (entire chapters of text messages between characters AND a chapter that is solely inner monologue?), cliche....I could keep going. Big disappointment.

Wallbanger - Sorry but the story was so cliche and absolutely boring, lost interest in even finishing it.

The books from the collection are intriguing. I loved the stories. I liked the story for Viv (eventhough at the begining I was sad that it's not a story with Caroline). The characters are meeting between books. :)

WALLBANGER:
*Sighs* Simon what am I going to do with you, and your naughtiness, "you're really fixated on this, aren't you? Wish you were on the other side of that wall? Are you lookin' to ride that sex train, Nightie Girl?" He chuckled as he wagged his finger in my face." He is a sucker for homemade goods especially bread and pie, "apple pie? Homemade apple pie? Christ, woman, are you trying to kill me? Mmm..." He smacked his lips and looked at me hungrily." He's a total flirt, "he took a good long look at me then, blue eyes dropping from my face and traveling across my body. "Hmm, you weren't kidding about the apron. I don't know how long I'll be able to hang in here without trying a little grab-a**." The boy says things, when he totally means the opposite, "hi hissed slightly and smiled. "You're going to break me, you know this, right? I swear on all that's holy I'm not a machine - Christ, don't stop doing that." He groaned, thrusting into my hand without thought." I really can't wait for the next book in this series if the other two men are anything like Simon it's going to make for one hell of a read.

RUSTY NAILED:
Sometimes the second time around is way better than the first as was this case with Simon and Caroline. Let me tell you what I missed my boy, "I'm hardly just someone. I think I rate a little higher than that," he told the side of my neck which he was now feathering with the tiniest of kisses. "So, are you going to say hi to your boyfriend who flew all the way across the globe just to show you his hammer, or are you going to punch me again?" He's still a fool for his girl who'd give her anything, "anything. You can have anything you want. Don't you know that?" He groaned, scooping under my back and pulling me closer into him, tilting my hips so that each thrust hit me right smack dab on the Carrara. "I just need you." His eyes burned into mine, stormy full of want." Caroline is just as sassy if not more this time around, "did you do this on purpose? This whole handyman fantasy? The tool belt? The abs? The - holy eff." I gasped when he took my hand and pressed it against his...drill bit." I had so much fun with this book Simon and Caroline aren't like normal couples and that's what I loved about them.

SCREWDRIVERED:
It took me awhile to start to read this because well I read the blurb and I thought a love triangle but that is not the case at all. Viv I loved her, "I see by your buckle your name's Hunk. I mean, Hunk. I mean, eff, Hank. Crap." Viv that girl is a whole bunch of entertainment in her thoughts, "yeah, it depends. I'll be back later today, going to ride Paula." Who was Paula, and how much could I kill her for getting to be ridden by Cowboy Hank?" Simon makes an appearance and he's funnier than ever, "nice. I'm coming to help and you're busting my balls?" he asked, and I head Caroline in the background chime in with, "no busting the balls, they're great balls." As the story moved on I found myself disliking Hank more and more I found him too cocky and a manwho**, but Clark I loved right off. Viv she tries to do the right thing, "this impossible woman is going to help you now, okay, Clark? Why don't you put your arm around me and just - and that was my boob. Let's try this again?" Clark he's funny in his own way, "are you aware that, standing in front of the fire like you are, I can see everything you're wearing underneath?" His eyes flashed back up to mine. 'Or what you're not wearing?" I loved this book and I can't wait for the next one in the series.

started promising; ie…adult’ish. however, chapters 3-21 turned into a whiney girl chasing her “O”! *yawn*.

some creative writing. great story. entertaining at some points. just more of a 18-20 year old read, imo. too long for nothing of substance. 🫤

I knew the plot instantly and was also instantly bored. She needs an "O" as she calls them, over and over, so silly. Her hot next door neighbor can deliver. What kind of apartment is constructed SO badly that her bed MOVES when he bangs his latest OTS and she can hear every single word and action (spanking etc)? "Thump, 'Oh God', Thump Thump, 'Oh God', Unbelievable." Next up is the 'giggler'. Stupid. Poor writing unless you like entire chapters of text messages between characters AND a chapter that is all inner monologue. Not wasting my time on this one. DNF.

This series is great! It has everything you want in a good romantic comedy. The characters are well written; Clive is the BEST! I like that other characters from the story are getting their own book so we can be updated with the previous characters.
