Agatha Christie, the famous detective writer, is struggling to come to terms with her divorce. So much so that she can barely bring herself to say the word.

I received an e-ARC of this novel through NetGalley and Endeavour Press.

Actually 2.5 stars rounded up to 3.

I knew when I selected this book that the author would have a long way to go to write a convincing Agatha Christie character to satisfy the impression I already have of that person. The mystery is just barely a three star offering for me and the main character didn't square with the Agatha I have in my imagination. Those two factors were too much for this book to overcome, at least for me.

This is the third book in a series featuring Agatha Christie as an amateur detective. She is still recovering from her much publicised divorce and her friends are trying to help her construct a new social life for herself. Reluctantly she accepts an invitation to attend a variety show with an old friend and academic who seems to have fallen in love with one of the performers. When violence strikes after the performance, Agatha finds herself involved in the investigation because her friend is arr ...more

In 1920's Agatha Christie is now divorced and living in London where she is invited by an old friend Patrick Standbridge to a variety show where during the show a body of one of the artists is found. Will this be a start of a murder spree, what was the motive. Is the murder to clever for their own good. Her musings about her own writing lead her to investigate.
An entertaining mystery with a writing style that I liked.

Flimsy and Unconvincing Plot

I believe this is the third in a series of books where Agatha Christie finds herself in the centre of a murder mystery that she is left to solve. This outing is written during the famous period of her life when her husband Archie has just left her for another woman. Here she finds herself at a Variety Show with her good friend Patrick and his friend Isabelle; shortly after the show ends there is a double murder on the stage. Mrs Christie and her companions are asked t

Alison Joseph should not be confused with Agatha Christie.

This book was difficult for me to like, and I can’t really say why. The story was flimsy, although it had flashes of brilliance.

A young woman dancer is murdered at the theatre where she is performing. But all is not what it seems. This is a tale of identity, inheritance and misdeeds.

While it is a short novel, I believe Ms. Joseph could have done better.

Thanks to Netgalley and Endeavour Press for granting me permission to r

Central to the story is author Agatha Christie - who, following her divorce, is encouraged to get back out there and start living life. A night at the theatre sets Agatha on the path of solving the mystery at hand, despite her initial lack of interest.

The plot has many twists, which sees Agatha, centre stage Poirot style, revealing all to the audience in the grand finale.

The story is short, and so at times, the cast of characters seems a little one dimensional as there is not a great deal of tim
