The essays on "Mental Telegraphy" are excellent! "The Mysterious Stranger" is a must-read if you think Twain is boring.

Three stars because like most compilations, it was a mixed bag of stories and some of the stories have appeared as part of other collections so if you read a lot of Twain, not all of these will be new. The writings span a pretty broad range of topics- the science fiction classification was a little loose, but still fairly accurate.

A very enjoyable collection of little known but significant work of the early Sci-fi genre, which provides a unique insight into Twain's thoughts on the future of the human race, and his rivalry with Jules Verne. If you can forgive the occasional racist terminology which would have been common at the time of writing but unacceptable now, then there are some real gems here.
