when the going gets tough, this lone wolf gets going...
as far as sequels go this one doesn't disappoint at all Maria has created a story so great that everyone honestly needs to read it.
Ok so going into the story i have my hesitations about second books in the series because they can really make or break a series, but for me this one really stepped up and turned out to be a very excellent sequel that i was hoping for and man it was delivered. Who's afraid too? was everything that i wanted a good sequel to have and Maria didn't disappoint me as fan of this series. She can write intense moments that also have humour that she slips in there to make it feel less tense. The world building in this story is perfect all of the places that Tommi visits in this book are described with incredible detail from every character to how cold the weather is.
Tommi as a main character has grown so much in this second book she has become more sassier and is starting to come into her own as a werewolf and i honestly need someone like her in my life. I love how she's getting her own style and discovering all these new skills she didn't know she had but all in all she's becoming a really bad ass werewolf.
there were so many new well-written characters who appeared in this book and some characters that returned from the first book which is always good to see. Lorcan is character that returned from the first book and i'm still 50/50 on this character because he can come off as a really good character then all of a sudden pull a dick move and become a disliked character for me but i hope in the third book he proves me wrong so he can finally get back on my good side.
all these new diverse set of characters that Maria has created is refreshing and great to see in a book because they all have their own stories and voices that are distinctive that i know which character i'm reading, Clayton, Zillia, Dolly, Sanjay and Gus who all make up the Rouge team. Heath who is apart of the praetoria guard has become a very likeable character in this one and whom i enjoyed reading every time he was on the page.

I love when authors put pop culture references in their books because theres always ones from tv shows or other books that i've watched or read before and Maria is like a queen of pop culture references and i always get a laugh out of it when i read them on the page.
can we all agree on how creepy the baby thing was? i don't think i've ever been so mortified or scared while reading a book but Maria's writing is just that good trust me!
The ending of the book has opened up a whole new world of possibilities and questions that i need the answers to, but i have no idea where the third book is going to go.

Well after the shocking end to Who's Afraid - #1 the Tommi Grayson series I was not so sure about returning. But here I am, and I have to admit, sucked in and ready to remain on the Tommi Grayson team and journey. I want the next book now!
Who is Tommi Grayson? Well she is a young 23 year old part Scot, part Maori, who also just happens to belong to a powerful werewolf heritage. She found that out in the first book, and now she is finding out even more about herself and so are her friends and those she has joined with. I love that cover quote "ALL BARK....ALL BITE! Yes indeedy.
In this story we find her in Germany, joining up with a group of rogue werewolves. Lorcan her Custodian or kind of guide is with her. So is Joss a human friend who is in Germany for cancer treatment. In this world there are humans, werewolves and many supernaturals. The Treize are the governing body - and they have the Praetorium Guard who are soldiers and powerful ones at that. Lorcan was one of these before he resigned and took on the work of a Custodian. We meet a few new PG's as the action heats up.
Tommi is still getting to know herself and her new powers, but they look very promising indeed with I am sure more to come. She's just a babe in this world. The rogue wolves take her on for more training and she becomes a very skilled warrior in many ways. And she will need all the skills and control she can muster because real evil is abroad and it is not playing nice. Ah yes, very revolting is all I'll say. But... Tommi might be a werewolf, but she has a compassionate heart and she sure is not siding with the evil. So watch out.
This book really helped me grasp better the world Tommi now moves in. There have been new additions, some interesting and some downright evil. There is still the attraction between Tommi and Lorcan that seems to be a no no for reasons apparent mostly to Lorcan.... but I will be watching that space with interest.
If you enjoy a book with world building, interesting characters and lots of action with good versus evil then go for this series. You will need to be able to tolerate werewolves and so on, but really if I got used to them you might too. Well you could be a fan of them already!
I enjoyed some of the comments at the opening of the book from others about the first book. This is what Darynda Jones says of the first book:
"Gripping, fast-paced and completely unexpected, Who's Afraid has more twists than a tornado. I loved this story! Maria Lewis is definitely one to watch."
However this is the one I loved the most! Its Maria Lewis' mum.
"Definitely worth reading over and over again, as well as buying multiple copies. Great stocking stuffers, those werewolf books."

WOW! This was as amazing, if not more than, 'Who's Afraid?'.
*******DO NOT CONTINUE READING THIS IF YOU HAVE NOT READ BOOK 1. CONTAINS SPOILERS FOR 'WHO'S AFRAID?'*******
Continuing straight on from 'Who's Afraid?', 'Who's Afraid Too?' starts with Tommi grieving after her estranged werewolf half-brother killed Mari and Kane. Joss has just moved to Berlin to try and treat his cancer at a specialist hospital. After a few days, Tommi (and Lorcan) move to Berlin to support Joss, as well as to learn how to be a werewolf from a group of rogues.
This book was very fast paced, which made me not want to put it down - I can't decide whether this is a bad thing or a good thing. In one way it means that I have to wait until at least January 2018 to read the next instalment; in another, it means that it kept my interest throughout. Compared to book 1, there seemed to be a lot more swearing - I am totally fine with this as whilst reading I was swearing as a reaction to what I was reading!
We were introduced to heaps of new characters in book 2, including: The Rogues (Zillia, Gus, Sanjay, Clay, and Dolly), some active Praetorian Guard members (the twins - Jakea and Jaira - and Heath), Yu (a retired PG), more members of the Askari, Officer Dick Creuzinger, Kirk Rennex, and Chester Rangi . The main conflict in the book revolved around an ancient breed of werewolves, the Laignach Faelad. .
As a character, Tommi is so amazing. She grew so much as a person and as a werewolf in this book. And OMG she is so bloody kick ass!!!
One of my favourite lines from the book was:
Heath: "We're assembling a team."
Tommi: "The Avengers?"
Until next time, when we can follow Tommi and the "avengers" on another adventure, let's go kick some Laignach Faeland butt!

Another captivating book by Maria Lewis that kept me up to crazy hours of the night. So fast paced and the main villain creeped me the hell out. Can't believe I have to wait A WHOLE YEAR to find out what happens next.

In Who's Afraid Too? we continue to follow Tommi's adventures as she comes with suddenly becoming a werewolf and having a very hot guardian/personal martial arts teacher assigned to her by the council that regulates the supernatural in her world.
The difficulties Tommi was having with her recently discovered Maori Warewolf family, seem over for now (though they are alluded to at times) and as a lone Wolf her guardian is taking her to Berlin to meet other Wolves and learn how to live as a 'Lone". Which one has to wonder if she ever will, since she has a permanent hot guardian by her side, who knows everything though he does not always share the knowledge.
In Too? we have a new set of antagonists, these bad guys are an old evil reemerged and they threaten not only Tommi but the whole world.
This was a good book but I did not love it as much as the first one. First the locations; in the first book the author completely brought Scotland and New Zealand to life for me! In Too? the first section, which also happens in Scotland, still seemed very, very real but Berlin never came to life for me at all. It just felt like a generic city in fiction novel, locations were mentioned, street names, ect maybe if you were from Berlin that would do the trick, but for me it didn't.
Primary characters; Tommi herself seemed to lose shape (I know, terrible pun) for a while there as well. The early Tommi was the independent interesting girl of the first book, but about a third of the way through this one she became....I don't know... a bit ill defined, and a trifle whingy. Also, she seemed younger more like a teenager than she had in the last book and for a while I was actually a bit sick of her. This seems to change toward the end and she was the strong, smart Tommi I liked in the first novel by the closing chapter. Lorcan is little more than a little of a two dimensional puppet in this book I am sorry to say.
All the creativity that slipped from the main, established characters must have gone into the new characters and the LoneWolf clan of Phases are interesting, individual and enjoyable to read. It did seem to me that some of them did not really go anywhere, but I enjoyed reading about them anyway. One very annoying character is also well written; reminds me so much of someone I know I can practically see his face.
The ending is not really and ending, it finishes the story arc of this book and opens the story arc for the next installment, as is the modern writing style.
So in summary: Good book, not as good as the first the first was her Debut novel however, it probably had more time, more love, less deadlines and the first spark of creativity. Often enough authors second novels are not quite as brilliant as the first. Often, also, a #2 in a series loses it's way in the characters and the plot a little. Many authors and many series recover from this and I do believe that the third Tommi book (which is quite obviously in progress) may recover from the slight flaws I personally found in this novel. While I will not be quite as desperate to read the third book as I was to read this one (Thank you Avid reader for ordering it in for me) I hope to read it sometime.

A brilliant second entry in what looks to be an exciting series! I loved the expansion of the supernatural world, the clever and witty writing and lovable characters. This series can go in so many directions and I am beyond excited for all the possibilities. Absolutely cannot wait for the next installment and hopefully many many more!

Astoņus mēnešus pēc mātes nāves negadījumā plūdos, Supernatural Sisters sērijas galvenā varone 22 gadus jaunā Tommi Grayson grib beidzot tomēr vismaz vaigā skatīt savu bioloģisko tēvu. Ar uzsvaru, ka vien skatīt vaigā, ne iepazīt, jo agrāk tīņa gados izspiestais iemesls, kāpēc nedzīvo kopā ar tēvu, lielāko daļu riebumā atgrūstu tik tālu, ka tiem nebūtu pat ne mazākās vēlmes pat uz ko tādu, kur nu vēl kā Tomijai no Skotijas ceļot uz otru pasaules malu Jaunzēlandē. Bet tāda nu ir daļēji eiropeiskās un daļēji maoru izcelsmes varone spilgti zilā krāsā nokrāsotiem matiem.

“Tommi Grayson: all bark, all bite... and now she’s BACK!”
After reading Who’s Afraid? last year, I knew I needed more Tommi Grayson. So when I met Maria Lewis at Supanova and she informed me that it was going to be a series with at least 4 books, well I lost it!
Who’s Afraid Too? continues following the story of Tommi Grayson as she leaves her life in Dundee to go to Berlin to train with the Rouges, a group of lone werewolves, there she encounters a new evil and with the help of her new friends aims to take down this evil.
This book was everything I had hoped it would be, Maria’s writing is full on intense moments but always with a slither of humour wedged in there, the way she describes locations, weather, characters and even smells, is amazing and really draws you into the story making you feel like you’re there experiencing it. Another thing I love about Maria’s writing is all the pop culture references weaved into the story, there was so many times I burst out laughing only to look up and be greeted by a family member looking at me like I was crazy, I usually got away with it by saying ‘sorry... the werewolf was being sassy’. They don’t think I’m weird at all!
I had promised myself that I was going to take my time reading this books, but like always I went through it so fast that I am now sitting here at my laptop sad over the fact I have to wait a full year for the next book, which it not fair, I’m so emotionally attached to so many character! I need all my babies back!
Tommi as always is an amazing protagonist. She is smart, strong and so sassy. While I was reading I was even more drawn to her and all I want is the best for my sassy werewolf baby. During this book she hones her skills and discovers some new skills she didn’t even know she had. She is just becoming more and more of an amazing, strong female protagonist that I am always craving to read about.
Lorcan... Mr. Lorcan MacCarthy, I have an issue! After the first book I loved him, I was ready for him and Tommi to get together, and even in the first half I was on Lorcan’s side, but after his actions I just don’t think his good enough for Tommi. I still love him and he will also be such an amazing bad ass but I’m keeping an eye on him throughout the series.
Tommi doesn’t need a man to be happy!
Like I mentioned before there was a lot of new characters we were introduced to, we had the Rouges with consisted of Clayton, Zillia, Dolly, Sanjay & Gus. The twins from the Praetoria Guard, Jaira & Jake and then we have probably my favourite new character of all time, Heath Darkiro from the Praetoria Guard.
As much as I love all the Rouges, as soon as Heath came on the scene I was like ‘well looks like I have a new favourite character of all time!’ he was just so sarcastic. At first I was worried that he would do something and turn against the team, but no he just got better and better and by the end of the book I was sad that I had to wait until the next book to see Heath and Tommi hang out again and just become amazing Bros! Heath is now my new Lorcan... (Sorry Lorcan!! Love ya Bae!) How could you not love him when during a serious meeting he comes out with lines like this?
“It's like the villains aren't even trying to be creative anymore. Personally I was hoping for more of a castle we could storm or something with a moat.”
As much as I loved the first book, I enjoyed Who’s Afraid Too? a lot more, I’ m not even sure why. All I can say is I am so excited for the next book in the series and to see where this story is heading as well as see Tommi being a total bad ass.
I would recommend this series to anyone who likes Fantasy and a bit of the Paranormal with a splash of romance thrown in. This series will always been on my most Anticipated list each year and I will always be on the lookout for when Maria Lewis is on tour in my area.
Now if you will kindly excuse me I need to go find someone to draw me fan art of Heath... It’s not weird! You’re weird!

As much as I love all the Rouges, as soon as Heath came on the scene I was like ‘well looks like I have a new favourite character of all time!’ he was just so sarcastic. At first I was worried that he would do something and turn against the team, but no he just got better and better and by the end of the book I was sad that I had to wait until the next book to see Heath and Tommi hang out again and just become amazing Bros! Heath is now my new Lorcan... (Sorry Lorcan!! Love ya Bae!) How could you not love him when during a serious meeting he comes out with lines like this?
“It's like the villains aren't even trying to be creative anymore. Personally I was hoping for more of a castle we could storm or something with a moat.”
As much as I loved the first book, I enjoyed Who’s Afraid Too? a lot more, I’ m not even sure why. All I can say is I am so excited for the next book in the series and to see where this story is heading as well as see Tommi being a total bad ass.
I would recommend this series to anyone who likes Fantasy and a bit of the Paranormal with a splash of romance thrown in. This series will always been on my most Anticipated list each year and I will always be on the lookout for when Maria Lewis is on tour in my area.
Now if you will kindly excuse me I need to go find someone to draw me fan art of Heath... It’s not weird! You’re weird!

It's no secret that I loved the previous book in this series, and I've been eager to get my grabby hands on Who's Afraid Too? from the moment I finished reading book one. Tommi is a character that certainly stands out and leave an impact and I had to know what trouble she would find herself in next.
Tommi has left behind her home, and her life to figure out what the heck to do with herself now. Some of her best friends are dead, whilst another is in hospital in Berlin receiving treatment, and Tommi needs to figure out what happens next. Her target is Wigtown, a tiny village in Scotland , where she hopes to find answers to her heritage before continuing on to Berlin to join Joss.
Tommi is someone who has come a long way, and after discovering her family history she refuses to take it lying down and is determined to find an answer. Wigtown sounds like an amazing place, a town that is full of book shops and helpful people. Although Tommi's time in Wigtown is very short, she certainly comes away with more than she thought she would. Upon her arrival at Berlin, Tommi soon discovers it's not going to be as relaxing as she initially thought, when the discovery of an ancient enemy, thought to have been wiped out of existence centuries ago, makes a reappearance, and Tommi and the wolves need to find out who is responsible as soon as possible before the price is too high.
Who's Afraid Too? is a book that take us on a whole new adventure with Tommi that takes us on a twisting turning journey and doesn't let up. It keeps us guessing until the last few chapters over who is responsible and how it's all going to end. I loved the action, the adventure, the violence, and the general kick assness (is that even a word) of Tommi and his misfit group of wolves and guards.
I absolutely loved getting to see how far Tommi has come from the beginning of this series, her ability to control her wolf is astounding, and how she incorporates this into the fights just leaves you in awe.
It's hard to rally review this book without giving away spoilers about what events happen. There are shock revelations, twisty turny paths that try to lead you off in the wrong direction, and an amazing set of characters. I had the pleasure of meeting Maria last year at an event in London, and even more so now for me the author just embodies Tommi, from the hair, to the sense of style.....so I guess that makes Maria a kick ass author, and kick ass werewolf too :)

This was probably more of a 3.5 star for me because of how deeply disturbing and horrifying and crime committed by the supernatural bad guys is. However, if I didn’t think about the actual crime I really enjoyed the progression of Tommi’s story with the whole learning curve to be a rogue wolf and how competent she is. I also like her no bullshit attitude and direct manner. In terms of romance this one is pretty light on with Tommi and Lorcan attempting to restrain their feelings for one another given a relationship between them is forbidden. They slip a couple of time early on but do indeed spend most of the book uncoupled. Now normally being a big romantic I would be itching for them to get back together but I am honestly kind of indifferent to them as a couple. Mostly because I really like Tommi but I am kind of meh about Lorcan with all his secrets and brooding and failure to treat Tommi as an equal partner. He is actually a great mentor for Tommi but until her respects her as an equal he is not a great boyfriend for her. He is a great character and important to the story just not great as a love interest. Even tho I don’t thinkit is on the cards I would prefer a Tommi & Heath as a couple because he at least is honest and relatively open with her and seems to treat her as equal. At least that is how he appears for now (it may be revealed as a sham or manipulation in the next book but I am going with itfor now). Plus Heath has a sense of humor and fun. Lorcan is all tortured and broody all the time. Tommi has enough shit in her life she should have someone who can have fun and bring some enjoyment into her life. I liked that tommi refused the recruitment offer and her reasoning. The villain was SUPER obvious and there was never any doubt in my mind from the moment Tommi meets them.

I found this sequel to be disappointing in comparison to the first book. What I loved about Tommi Grayson is her bi-racial background with her Maori and Scottish roots, but there was barely any mention of that whatsoever.
I was also looking forward to Tommi finding out more about her Maori roots, which the blurb promises, but that was left at her going to the library and reading up on it, before leaving everything behind for a quest. Why bother to include that aspect of self discovery (for a second time) if it's not going to be covered properly?
My biggest pet peeve from the first book was amplified here - Tommi is the biggest special snowflake who is good at everything at the first go because of her natural instincts. Brace yourself to be beaten over the head with this in the book, but various characters who pop up. She learns how to use a sniper after 3 hours. She is perfect at investigating and is one of the supernatural world's most skilled fighters, despite just joining it. It's frustrating but also unrealistic, which annoyed me to no end.
Another thing that annoyed me about Tommi was her constant snarky remarks and pop culture references at every situation. I found this distracting and it got in the way of the Praetorian Guard and Trieze mythos which is what the book was trying to get across. Part of whether you will enjoy the series will be the main character, but she irritated me so much the rest of the book faded into the background.
I did enjoy the investigative aspect of taking down the Laignach Faelad, rogue werewolf warriors who are stealing babies. This kept me reading the book mixed with a lot of action.
I don't think I'll be continuing with this series, there are so many other urban fantasies without main characters who annoy me, and there wasn't enough continuation of the werewolf mythos and Maori background which was introduced in the first book.

While in book one I got the biggest kick out of the reference to Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, the reference in this book was even funnier. The best line for me in the book was after Lorcan asked Clay to train Tommi with guns that day. "Without a second glimpse at Lorcan I followed after Clay as he began a chorus of 'Tommi's got a gun.'" Once again, Maria Lewis has me unable to stop laughing at that line. This was after Tommi went to the convenience store and picked up a variety of newspapers. What was she looking for in the newspapers? What did Lorcan do when he started looking at the photographs in the newspapers and listening to Sanjay read the article that was written in German? How did Tommi find out about the article and how did she know it was in the newspapers? What did she tell Sanajay and Lorcan about her run-in with Officer Dick at the hospital and then again when Sanjay and Tommi were walking back home from getting food? Who are the female twins that surprise Tommi in the apartment one evening? What happens? Who are they? What are they there for? What does Lorcan know about the situation? What is going on with Tommi and Lorcan? Will they ever figure it out? What is going on with the news article in the papers? Read and find out!!!! I really hope that there is a book three coming to this series because it totally rocked! Loved the action, mystery, thrills, and suspense in this book.

Okay, so the first book was a fun werewolf read with an ending you couldn't possibly see coming. This one was a very fluid transition into 'what happens next.' I really like Ms. Lewis' writing because it feels like I'm just sitting there chatting with someone I know. It's comfortable.
This installment moves us out of Scotland and into Germany and gives us a whole slew of new faces. My favorite was probably Sanjay-the quiet, but absolutely not to be discounted, DJ/werewolf/contortionist? I can't wait to follow Tommi (and friends) on their next adventure!

The fast pace remains, the trials, the tension, everything you loved about the original is here.
This book picks up from where the first left off, and does a marvellous job of introducing new characters and expanding the world from the first book.
There are still more questions to be answered, this definitely (hopefully!!!!) doesn’t end Tommi’s journey. I need more of my blue haired werewolf!!

Another great book by Maria Lewis. I loved this book. It had a perfect balance of action and drama. It was nice to see Tommi out of her comfort zone and thrown into Both a place and situation she had no idea about. I loved the fact it was in Germany too. I’ve always wanted to go to Germany but with the way the world is right now, that isn’t possible so it was nice to read about it instead. I know sometimes the second book can be what breaks an author because it isn’t as strong, but I don’t feel as though that happened here. I loved that Maria took the first book and just expanded on the story and the characters. It made the story stronger and more exciting to read.
As for the story, once again Maria always kept me guessing and there were so many moments I didn’t see coming. Some that stick out to me include the moment Lorcan full-on jumps Chester and just attacks him. I remember screaming “whoa,” making my roommate jump. I didn’t see that coming but when it comes to Lorcan I have now learnt to not assume anything with him and expect the unexpected. Another moment I didn’t see coming was was Joss finding out another Tommi. Through this book you could really see the death of her friends weighed heavily on the decisions she made and so when it came to Joss finding out, I found it quite emotional as she knew she didn’t have any other choice but she never wanted to drag his into it given everything he was going through. Once again throughout this story, my safety net was ripped out from under me and I think this is something Maria does really well and something she should be praised for.
As for Tommi I love how much more we got to learn about her and I love how she isn’t the sort of character that needs a guy to save her every two minutes. She is definitely for of a lone wolf and would rather go off on her own. I found her relationship throughout this book with Lorcan interesting. At the beginning of the book, I really thought the pair were going to get together but as time went on I can’t lie and say I’m not happy she turned him away. By the end of this book, I can safely say I don’t trust him thanks to the lies he’s told.
In terms of the other werewolves. I bloody loved them. I found all their different personalities added something new to the story and helped flesh things out more. I can’t wait to see more of them in the next Tommi book as I know there is another one.

A great follow up to Who's Afraid!Tommi is a wonderful main character.Snarky,smart,fesity and tough enough to deal with situations.I also love the world building in the series and how the author keeps developing it.After Tommi learnt more about her heritage and powers, her life has drastically changed.
And even though she wants to escape, she is able to enjoy her peace and quiet only for a short while before she is dragged back again.Tommi and her friends have a great task ahead of themselves.
This book was just as enjoyable as the first!Action packed, with a dash of romance.I kept turning the pages as I was impatient to know what would happen next!The budding relationship between tommi and Lorcan develops well, but it doesn't overshadow the plot.
I hope the next book comes out soon as I am really excited to return back to this world! :D

This was an awesome book. It took the base provided by the first book and expanded on it, building a coherent and very enjoyable world.
Tommi is still trying to come to terms with the events at the end of the first book when she finds out her best remaining friends cancer has returned, and she decided to go to Germany with him to support him, and also to learn from the pack of rogue werewolves that live there. What happens when she gets there is a whirlwind of trouble with Tommi at the center of it all, but this time it's the big bad wolves she has to put down...
The story gripped me, and I read the whole book in a night. Literally, I finished at 4am in the morning lol. Definitely recommended.

Maria Lewis is so refreshing! I live Tommi Grayson she kicks ass and just keeps going! Maria is never afraid to kill characters off for impact and I truly admire that! This book see Tommi dealing with the loss of friends , the news of her best friends cancer being back, her troubled relationship with Lorcan and moving on to learn how to be a werewolf. So much and such little time before another mystery hits!
Can not wait to read the next installment.

Once again Lewis has managed to create characters who are relatable. Her continuation of the Who’s Afraid series is a credit to her amazing ability to write badarse female characters without the overbearing macho commonly associated with a strong protagonist.

I loved this second book with Tommi, Joss and Lorcan, plus all the new characters that we met. Took me a few days to finish this one as I have been busy home-schooling the kids, but another great read. The very end of the book did feel a little rushed though. But still, can't wait to read the next one.

This book starts not long after the end of Who’s Afraid. Tom I is still trying to come to terms with who she is and her feelings for Lorcan. They travel to Berlin where she begins to train with The Rougues….Werewolves without a pack. She is a quick learner. Then she learns about a new evil in the world and, together with her friends, takes it on.

If you loved the first book with Tommi Grayson, you will love this one too. I really enjoy a book that picks up right where the last one left off. We get to grow with the characters. Very much looking forward to what is next for Tommi and the delicious Lorcan.

Not quite on the same level as the first. But I still enjoyed this book. It is a slightly different take on shifters. This one is just as well written as the first book which makes reading books by this author a delight. I really hope there is more to this series!
