Had it all been a lie? Had she only been using the young and wealthy heir to a well-known international publishing firm?
When after 7 years of despair, pain, anger, hatred, and finally, emptiness, the disillusioned businessman unexpectedly comes face to face with the love of his youth, only to see his strictly organized life turn upside down again. Written in traditional English phrasing, JUST GONE was a departure from anything I've read lately. The classic language used and how the author clearly articulated each sequence was, at first, difficult to follow. However, once I became familiar with this style of writing, it didn't take me long to become completely enamored with this tale of second chance romance.

Seven years ago, Hayden and Lana fell in love while away at university. Their relationship was near perfect until the day that Hayden was about to propose... and Lana disappeared without a trace. Now a chance meeting, in what seemed like fate, at a charity gala has put these two erstwhile lovers back on a collision course and Hayden demands answers. Answers that could break a broken man.

The plot was intricate and interesting while the characters were enjoyable. Lana was clever, confident, likable, kind, considerate and sensible. Hayden was intelligent, brooding, emotional yet practical, and sincere. Their love affair was consuming and it was a struggle to watch such a great man succumb to the negative qualities of his personality, such as jealousy and distrust. Yet, I still admired his honesty about it and really couldn't blame him. If I were to pinpoint one thing I didn't like about the plot, it would be Lana's reticence, how long it lasted, and how quick she was to give up when the going got tough.

I'm definitely interested in reading the second book, The Trouble with Love. I need to know if these two finally get their acts together or if they'll continue to waste their precious time as "just friends".

Settle in for a heart-wrenching, gut-twisting tale of love, misguided actions, misunderstood cues and a total failure to stand up for love and each other. Be ready to want to tear your hair out as two young lovers allow themselves to fall victim to outside pressure and their own insecurities. JUST GONE by Renata W. Muller is a passionate tale that is shrouded in a haze of pain, enveloping both Lana and Hayden, keeping them apart for seven years, years filled with yearning for that one true love and doing nothing about it.

Lana was a bright star in the sky, a force to be reckoned with, a young woman with a big heart, generous spirit and an advocate for the underdogs in life.

Hayden is the wealthy son of a business mogul whose wife will stop at nothing to assure that he takes over the family business when the time comes. Too bad that isn’t his dream. When Hayden meets Lana, his world is turned upside down and inside out, his heart is placed firmly on his sleeve and she is the woman he wants for eternity. In Hayden, Lana sees a man just learning who he is what he is truly capable of, now that he has come down out of his ivory tower. They were a match made in heaven, but when Lana disappears on the night Hayden was to propose, they each begin a long and torturous journey into their own personal hell.

A chance encounter brings them face to face, seven years later and the magic they felt all those years ago still burns bright. Older and “wiser” now, they share all that happened so long ago and it seems that history is repeating itself and Hayden once again finds his world tilted on its axis for the woman he loves. Can they make it this time or will more devious machinations pull the rug out from under them again? Can they trust each other to be honest or is it too late to mend their very souls?

Renata W. Muller writes with a poetic grace that flows across each page. She has taken an often used scenario and given it her own flavor, deep, rich and emotional. For me, it is her style that makes this tale so amazing. I honestly felt that Lana and Hayden, for all of their intelligence, passion and need for each other fell into the lack of communication pothole that so many plots rely on. Were they in love with the fairy tale version of their romance or were they a couple bonded by their hearts and souls? Where was their belief in themselves? Where was the belief in their love? As individuals I did like them, but as a couple they came across too shallow, too self-absorbed and too filled with high level angst. Sometimes love isn’t meant to be and sometimes the road to hell is paved with good intentions from good people who fail to act.

I received this copy from Renata W. Muller in exchange for my honest review.
