Felt like a love triangle!
These statements are just my opinion and may also contain spoilers...
I'm so wary of reading stories where a MC loses a love because we normally get so much of the relationship of the first love that it makes the new one seem second best. Authors spend so much time telling the first love story that the new one is hard to believe because it's not developed enough. In this story I felt like there was a love triangle between the hero, heroine, and the hero's dead wife's ghost. And how do you compete with a ghost?
Quinn refused to let go of his guilt and the past that it made it hard for him to move on. It took the whole freakin book for him to get his head out of his ass only to spend the last 10% of the book trying to convince the reader he was ready to move on. I call bull effing shit. Do I think he loved Lilly...probably but he spent the whole book pining for the dead love of his life that anything he felt for Lilly felt lacking. Maybe if we got to read more than 5 pages of him claiming his love for Lilly I could believe he was lucky to have met someone like her and ready to move on. His big grand gesture was sweet but a little to late for me. I really wished Lilly held strong and not cave so quickly.
I have no issues that he loved his first wife, I even understand and expect that he thought she was the love of his life. People die and life goes on no matter what. So for him to lose that love, I can understand it pain. But if your gonna write a romance story on some new love interest make me believe she is not a placement filler. Otherwise just write about the damn first love and let it end tragically with him remaining true to his love of his life. The love of your life is a love so pure and true that it comes with the ideas of hopes, dreams, innocence. A soulmate is a love where imperfections, flaws, broken dreams, the good, the bad, and the ugly are welded together by another soul which makes you whole or complete. A soulmate is a love that will take all those broken pieces and glue them together when you are no longer able to. If you are gonna write about losing the love of your life, then make it where the new love is their soulmate.

Until chapter 35 Hero treats her like a whore, with all the letters,
He only came to her for sex, she take it all from him,
In chapter 37 he said I love you and I want to KNOW YOU!!! After 37 chapters and a lot of sex! He was never into her and it was painful to read about his dead wife and how he can’t let her go!

I think this is the hardest book and the worst hero from this author and that is saying something because you can hate ALL HIS HEROES!
I only come here for the grovel but for me it’s never enough…

I just couldn't with these two
I am usually a fan of Jessica Prince's books, but this one was so annoying. I couldn't stand Quinn, he was such a drama llama. He would run hot and cold with Lilly. And Lilly was just as bad. She was a doormat letting Quinn get away with treating her so shabby. Both of them were such OTT drama queens.

Loved it!
I really, really liked this and literally read it in one sitting.
I haven't read the previous books in this series, but this is a complete standalone, so I had no problems connecting the dots.
It is a story of loss, heartbreak, forgiveness, second chances and finding love at times when you feel like you'll never be able to love again.
Both main characters had an undeniable chemistry right from the start, and they took me on one hell of an emotional roller coaster. Nothing about them was over the top.
It all felt very real and Jessica's writing style blew me away once again.
I highly recommend it!

Jessica always amazes me with her writing range...and never disappoints me when I pick up one of her books. A Broken Soul is no different. It's a tear-jerker, but you'll know that right off the bat from the prologue. Quinn and Lilly's love story is beautifully written, their pain raw, their love so visceral that it felt like I KNEW THEM. Highly recommend if you love emotion and substance with your romance... FIVE STARS.

I only read the second part of the book without skimming. From chapter 20. It’s this reading slump 😩 I need to get to the juicy parts in books quickly, when the conflict really gets good and angsty. Sorry, I have no patience.
My thoughts…
The heroine kept letting him reject her, over and over again. He’d push her away and she’d fall apart, pathetically so. When she finally has enough and tells him she never wants to be with him again (YES!), she eventually ends up calling him 🤦🏻♀️ They make up only for him to push her away one more time in a very hurtful way. Towards the end, he needed lots and lots of convincing from friends and family to let her into his life. In part because he didn’t feel worthy—whatever, I hate this excuse. If someone needs to be talked into being with you, how sad and unromantic. I mean, at least let him earn your trust and another chance with you. Ha! Of course she took him back instantly. Final verdict: She was a consolation prize.

The hero is a widower with a daughter, the heroine is her dance teacher. He’s still hung up on his late wife and feels guilty because she died in an accident while he was driving. The heroine pushes too much. I’m not fond of grieving widows but I can understand and not everyone moves on and anyway trying to force people to move on is wrong. She is always around telling him he’s a coward and has to admit his feelings, he has to live fully and his late wife wouldn’t want it. Who’s she to tell him that? The hero is no better. He blows hot and cold and is either grumpy or amorous. This should have been a very good sign for the heroine not to get involved with him emotionally because he wasn’t ready. He is rude and she tries to push him, I didn’t like them both. In the end he realizes that he loved her but he was scared that he would lose her and he felt not worthy of another love, but he really rejected her time and again and imo she took him back too soon.

I loved loved loved this book!! I couldn’t stop reading once I started. When you start reading the prologue, you know exactly why Quinn is the way he is and know that his and Lily’s love is going to be worth all the angst and the pain. When the story started, Lily too is going thru something so painful and heartbreaking, it took my breath away. Yet she still remains as sweet and sassy –then she and Quinn start interacting and there is this instant chemistry, snap between them., Quinn fought it while Lily gave in immediately. It was a push –pull-push between them. Quinn was a man who was so cranky and broken yet when it came to his young daughter, he showed a different side. She got his love and light. The rest of the time, he just barely existed until Lily came into his life.

It’s a love story that will have you rooting for these lovers because they deserve happiness and it is together. Their love story is raw ,full of angst and you will need tissue for this book. Lily’s part in this story is heavy at times – her story is full of pain yet her love for Quinn is neverending. She is dealing with so much and you can tell that she loves him and his daughter. I found her to be so selfless and full of a capacity to love. She wants Quinn to be happy whether its with her or with someone else (which deep down would kill her). Quinn on the other hand, was a bit of a jerk at times in this story. I get why he was the way he was but he blew hot and cold. He tried to stay away from Lily but couldn’t. He suffered from self-loathing , had a lot of angst over how he felt about Lily compared to his beloved wife who was deceased. My heart hurt for him yet I wanted to shake him and wake him up to Lily and her love for him and his sweet lil girl.
This is one story that you will need tons of tissues. Out of all the books in the Pembrooke series, this book definitely takes the book on angst and heartbreak. Oh and there is tons of passion and heat and it ends with a great big amount of love and devotion. I am sad to hear the Pembrooke series is ending but it ends on a sweet note. I loved reading Quinn and Lily’s story the most beause it is full of raw and true emotion.. not saying the others didn’t have that, its that this one really tips the scale and rang all my bells. #QuinnandLily4ever

Quinn lived through unbearable heartache in the past with the death of his wife, while Lilly is living present heartache with her father's illness. Quinn blames himself for the accident that killed his wife and he doesn't feel he deserves to be happy. Lilly becomes Quinn's daughter's ballet teacher and they form a friendship...a friendship they both eventually decide they want to be more. Quinn's confused feelings causes him to run hot and cold, resulting in him running his mouth without thinking and hurting Lilly's feelings time and time again. Regardless of being hurt, Lilly wants and needs Quinn in her life. Lilly can't help but wait for something bad to happen, for Quinn to end up regretting their relationship, and Quinn worries that his promise not to hurt her will be a hard one to keep. Quinn was such a dick and Lilly was too much of a pushover, so they both made me mad, but my heart also ached for them, while my stomach was tied up in knots worrying about the outcome! An incredibly emotional story of two broken souls.

Wow. I wish that one word would be enough for a review because I honestly felt a tad bit speechless after reading A Broken Soul by Jessica Prince.
Now, I'm not going to deny that she's one of my go-to authors, but A Broken Soul proves that Jessica can rip your heart out and you'll still love her. It was so different from her normal, but I loved it even more. Quinn & Lilly's story is one I fell for in the beginning. It was heartbreaking but swoony and I found myself not wanting their story to end.
Quinn was broody and cranky but seeing him melt and grow for Lilly was something nothing short of beautiful.
Lilly is someone I could be friends with... she was sweet and kind, fiery and so much more. She had something so devastating happening in her life, yet she still gave everyone reason to smile.

Damn it. It’s so easy to fall into love, but fucking impossible to fall out.
I wish I could say I don’t know why I waited to read A Broken Soul (Pembrooke Book 3), but… I do know. I knew, from the first moment we met Quinn in Coming Full Circle (Pembrooke Book 2), that his story was going to hurt. That Jessica Prince was going to shatter me. And, of course, she did.
But she also expertly put me back together.
Good grief, it was heartbreaking to read this book. Barely a chapter passed without making me cry; my heart aching for the pain that Quinn + Lilly were both in. But then again, barely a chapter passed without also making me smile. Those much needed moments of levity soothed me; they were the light at the end of the tunnel.

“Then show him there’s a light at the end of the tunnel.”
God, there is SO MUCH I want to say about this book. Like how much I loved Eliza + Ethan, and the friendship they offered Lilly as she faced her fears. And how Lilly’s grief felt familiar but different, and how her open heart and kind nature just made me want to befriend her.
I want to tell you, too, how sweet and sexy it was to see Quinn interact with his little girl. How the depictions of his grief and guilt were raw and real, and how frustrated I would get with him, only to find myself wanting to cry for him again when we saw everything through his POV.
Mostly, though, I want to tell you that this book isn’t a Buy It. It’s a shouty caps, italics, bold and underlined BUY IT . It was just as emotional and heartfelt and wonderful as I expected, laced as it was with Ms. Prince’s irresistible humor and light, along with a heavy punch to the feels.
A Broken Soul is one of my absolute favorite books of 2017 so far, and although it can be read standalone, it is the third book in an outstanding series, so please, don’t wait too long to read them. They are all shouty caps, italics, bold and underlined BUY IT worthy.

Honestly, I don't know what to say here. I read this for the angst because I love the dead spouse/partner trope for the angst and this one started off well, until Quinn pulled one too many hurtful moves that lost my sympathy with him. He was just plain ridiculous and it started to work my last nerve.
I wasn't a fan of the huge dollops of BBS either, even though in the end Lilly sort of stood up to his BS.
For a short read this one seemed to drag on and that's due to the constant push and pull by our hero who is dumber than a stump.

The Pembrooke Series is the first full series that I’ve read by Jessica Prince and because of that I think it’s always going to hold a special place in my heart. I literally finish each book wondering why in the world anyone would not read these books? They’re everything – heartbreaking, hopeful, emotional, funny, flirty, and fantastic. Just…fantastic.
So – Quinn & Lilly.
I was afraid to read their book because while all of the books have been emotional , this one was sure to take the cake. And it did. There were all these tears and my heart feels a little bit beat up by all the punches Ms. Prince delivered in A Broken Soul but trust me when I tell you that the highs outweigh the lows and the lows never felt like too much.
That said – this was hands down the most angsty book of the series. There were some secondary storylines that put a hurt on my heart – and then Quinn and Lilly finished it off. There were some scenes so emotional that my heart didn’t even know what to do with them – it ached and burned and hurt but my God you guys, I couldn’t stop flipping the pages. I couldn’t stop throwing myself into this story – I was so connected to the love these two beautiful, damaged people had for each other. I didn’t want to look away, even when it sometimes hurt to keep reading.
And there were rewards for continuing to read. There were moments so beautiful and lighthearted and incredibly sweet. It was so easy to love Quinn and Lilly. I think I especially loved Lilly – whose heart was so true and so wide open and giving. I loved her unsinkable spirit – even in her darkest days. I adored her strength and how she never got mean, even when she had every right to do so. I loved the crap out of Lilly.
I also loved Quinn though I spent a fair amount of time wanting to beat him about the head and shoulders. I would have liked to have seen him have to work a little harder to resolve the conflict he caused. I mean, don’t get me wrong- my heart hurt for him and my ovaries exploded for him over and over and over again – but that boy behaved badly on more than one occasion and I’d have like to see Lilly make him work a little harder for their happily ever after. However, that said? I loved their happily ever after. SO MUCH. Gah! It was just the kind of adorableness that made all the heartache worth it.
No, seriously. Why aren’t you reading Jessica Prince right now? You can start with Quinn and Lilly and it’ll wreck you just the way it wrecked me. Or you can go back to Chloe & Derrick’s book and experience this series from its swoony, adorable beginning. But you need to read them. The sooner the better, because – oof. So – Quinn & Lilly.
I was afraid to read their book because while all of the books have been emotional , this one was sure to take the cake. And it did. There were all these tears and my heart feels a little bit beat up by all the punches Ms. Prince delivered in A Broken Soul but trust me when I tell you that the highs outweigh the lows and the lows never felt like too much.
That said – this was hands down the most angsty book of the series. There were some secondary storylines that put a hurt on my heart – and then Quinn and Lilly finished it off. There were some scenes so emotional that my heart didn’t even know what to do with them – it ached and burned and hurt but my God you guys, I couldn’t stop flipping the pages. Get out the tissues for this one you're going to need them!!!!
I've been working with Jessica a long time now, since she wrote Scattered Colors actually. She repeated tells me she has no feelings.... well this book is full of so much feeling!!!!! So if she doesn't have any then I don't know where this story came from...
In A Broken Soul, she's written something real, something raw, something that melts your heart and fuses your soul. Something that will tear you apart and build you up, as you grip the book (or your reader ;) and hold on for what's to come next.
Quinn broke me time and again, his fear, his raw feelings, his self loathing, but most of all his love for his little girl. You cannot find a man more worthy then him. What he does day in and day out for his child and the love he has for her will melt your heart. But you will feel his pain in your heart and you will hurt for this broken man, whose lost and afraid to let go of his tragic past.
Lilly's part of this story, is going to break you! She's dealing with some truly heavy stuff in this book. You will watch her break and fall apart for several reasons... But my love for her grew so much in her tenderness, kindness and caring for a broken man and his child, despite the unrest in her own personal life. Her moment comes when she crashes, and when she does, you will hurt for her and what she's dealing with so much you feel like its happening to you personally. That's how real the scene unfolds. I won't spoil it but you'll know when you come to it.
I will repeat you need some tissues handy for this one.... I can't remember the amount of times this author with "no feelings" made me cry during this story. Oh and don't worry she will make you laugh too, cause you know it's not a JP book without a few of those thrown in to make the tears dry up....
For me after all of these books, Quinn and Lilly are hands down my favorite. This story is hands down my favorite. I truly think that this is her best book yet! So keep your feelings coming Jessica Prince cause this one knocked it out of the park!!!!!

Tearjerker!
I cried so many times during this book my throat hurt by the end! The emotional upheaval and the dysfunctional relationship made this book a bit harder to enjoy than the previous ones in the series. After a while it kind of became "alright already, let's get on with it." Additionally my pet peeve, the editing, came into play again. This time it was not only the typos, sentence structure and incorrect or missing words but also errors that would easily be remedied. For example, professional football teams play on Sundays during the regular season (and the timing of the book makes it the regular season before college football is over). Therefore, if Eliza and Lilley went to Ethan's game and they went out afterwards then later that night had a talk it is already late Sunday night. There is no "rest of the weekend" for manicures and pedicures etc...the weekend is over. While these types of errors are inconsequential to the story they have the impact of taking the reader's head out of the story and I hate that.
But overall I have enjoyed the books in this series and I strongly recommend Prince's work to readers interested in emotion tugging HEA stories.

What an amazing book...Just like everything Jessica writes, this book was amazing.
Quinn and Lilly's story was so beautiful, with a lot of little sprinkles of ugly scattered through. He considered himself broken, and felt there was no way at all he could be fixed. But he was so wrong. He just needed the right band aid....Enter Lilly. There was something about Lilly that drew him to her. Plus the fact that his 6 year old daughter Sophia wants to attend classes that Lilly runs.
He sees a really wonderful person in Lilly, but he just wont let himself love anyone else. He feels his heart died the same time his 1st wife passed away. He's got walls up and they are impossiable for anyone to break through. BUT Lilly really tries.
This was one of the best love stories I have ever read

So many tears! Have tissues!!
Jessica did an outstanding job with this story. Love, loss, drama, angst. God it's all that and it's perfect.
I friend tears of sadness, and tears of happiness. I cried all the damn tears. Just have tissues handy.
Lilly is an amazing woman, faced with one of the worlds worst tragedies. But she handles it like a champ.
Quinn is a jackass who needs to get his head out of his ass. But I love him. And I love him with Sophia most!
I think what makes Jessica stand out from other authors is how real her books are. Lilly is a dance instructor, and Quinn's a firefighter. REAL PEOPLE! They have real problems that you and I are likely to encounter. Ugh. It's just so so beautiful.
This is a fabulous ending to Pembrooke! I'll miss them!

This is Jessica's best book yet. The emotions this book brings are so much, but so worth it in the end. It still has her quit witted dialogue, but this book totally brought out a whole other side and I'm completely blown away.

A Broken Soul left me speechless. This book touched me so deeply. It will take you on a journey of joy, grief and love. There is a little bit of everyone in this book. You will find a connection that is impossible to forget.
I savoured each chapter, not wanting it to end. I am huge fan of Jessica's work and regardless of everything I have read by her she completely blew me away. This is a story you will not forget.
The characters are so real, the situations so believable that you can't help but get invested.
