A fun novella in which a girl in a distant village tries to break free from a monotonous peasant experience to dabble into every child's dreams of adventure and magic, and in so doing goes in over her head. With likable characters, an easy-going and unpretentious writing style, and a good pace to the story, this is a pleasant escapist fantasy with which to whittle away an hour or two. While at times the editing could have been tighter, there are good imaginative streaks here, such as the take on

Feels Rushed

I enjoyed the story but I felt that it was rushed. The main lead wasn't developed enough. A reader wouldn't feel a connection because the characters lack depth. This would be an amazing story if it didn't feel so rushed.

I really liked this story! It was an entertaining story and the characters were likable. I would enjoy reading about any adventures Elia and Locrian might have in the future.

A short, funny and enjoyable novella.
Elia feels like an outcast in her village, having only one true friend - Locrian, the Baron´s son. While exploring old ruins, Elia finds a carving - a totem that has some magical abilities. Greedy for fame, appreciation and power, she becomes an apprentice of old shaman - and wakes up old magic that poses for an awesome treasure as much as a great danger.
I very much liked the story with its easy-going flow and fast pace. All the main characters are very rea

Well, this book is certainly something completely different to the normal run of the mill book. The Shamans carving is used in a similar way to a voodoo doll, except this carving is capable of creating an object or creature which is a perfect replica of the carving, allowing the person who made the carving to become very powerful indeed. The book has been written in a very descriptive and creative manner bringing horror and escapism to a thrilling climax. A must read book
