This book features beautiful photographs and fascinating information on all the major animal habitats of our world. Readers will travel through savannas, rainforests, coral reefs, deserts, mountains, swamps, Arctic ice, and much more! It's a stunning tour around the world that helps build awareness about the beauty of our planet and the importance of protecting the diversity of its many environments and habitats.
This book has excellent photos with condensed, but detailed explanations of each of the world's biomes.
The photos focus on close-ups of animals, often 1-2 together, surrounded by the environments they live in. These small, close-up shots create a feeling of greater intimacy - concern about the subjects. Additionally, the photos are very cute, child-friendly ones. I as an adult, I also found them to be beautiful and engaging.
The written portion of the book is very effective, too. Clever pairing of information to be read by advanced readers, on the left side of each page, is followed by short, simpler sentences, on the right side of each page, to be read by beginning readers. The pages on the right continue the informational topic begun on the left. This back and forth pattern continues throughout the book and seems like a great idea to help children maintain focus and interest. The book ends with reasons to take care of and value the earth.
The typography is often surrounded by the the environmental photos creating additional feelings of being in each environment.
This very engaging, quality information and lively photos serve as a great introduction to the biomes of the world with the animal and plant life that populate them and why we need to care for them.
