A powerful testament to the strange workings of grace... ~ Readers Favorite ~
I know what I am seeing. Other's see what I am seeing. So why is my mind so questionable? It's all right here, but it's all so crazy!
Lisa's brother Lenny left their hometown after graduation, never to return to the slower life of the Midwest. Living in Las Vegas, distance kept him from the gatherings the rest of the family was accustomed to. Yes, there were great trips to Vegas, and his trips home, but it is now evident it wasn't enough.
As he shared his photo's online, one day they sent random, unwanted thoughts through his sister's mind. Then a sunset, and her thoughts, all signs of truth, her brother took his life. Afterward she asked for a sign from God of eternal life for her brother, receiving flowers later that day; flowers from Heaven. It also became apparent it was only the beginning of many mystical happenings she would experience.
The mind can take control, things become overwhelming, and our sanity is questioned. Where do you go when things become so unbelievable you question your mind; when you are no longer in control of your every movement, your every thought, brought on by the continued messages and signs from your request to God?
It's a journey; an incredible journey; through death, faith, uncertainty, spirit and healing. Needing to talk to someone, but whom; wanting confirmation, is this all real? They hearts, cards, butterflies, the many numbers, and then the unknown; all of it!

Captured by the Holy Spirit by Lisa Leikam is one woman’s narrative of her journey of faith, a powerful testament of the strange workings of grace and a beautiful relationship with God. In part one of this heartwarming book, the author states: “When a new chapter in life opens un-expectantly you don’t know how it will affect you, where it will take you, and what it will bring. You don’t know when, where, or how your life legacy will proceed.” A new chapter in her life was a calling which came unexpectedly and in a very strange way. It happened when Lenny, her brother, committed suicide. She knew things will never be the same again, but little did she know that events following his death would set her walking on a new path, trusting, opening her soul to the reality of a life bigger than death.
Captured by the Holy Spirit is far more than what I expected it to be. I was hoping to read about strange visions and prophecies, but no, this story is a story of faith. A simple faith, a human faith that reaches out in response to a love that calls from beyond our fears, our hurts, and our uncertainties. This book is a powerful story showing that God answers our prayers and that He does speak to us in our suffering, through our pain, and that His light does shine through the darkness of our unbelief.
Lisa Leikam’s writing is filled with beautiful reflections about life, faith, God, death, and healing. She points out in the preface that “The older we get the more we realize how truly blessed we are.” Reading this book has provoked in me a powerful urge to look back at my own life, at the losses, the pain, the self-doubt and the uncertainty, and to discover a God loving me beyond my imperfections. It is so beautiful, so human, so touching and inspiring that you’ll want to read it again before passing it on. This book is, undoubtedly, a gift of faith that will change the way most of us look at life, reality, and God.
Lisa Leikam’s memoir has been on my reading list for some time, and I’m glad I was guided to read it over the Easter holiday period. The author details her grief at the suicide of her brother and her plea for spiritual answers.
A personal and revealing account, I was amazed (but not surprised) to find significant parallels to my own spiritual journey. The hymn “How Great Thou Art” was played at my father’s funeral; two years ago our own family was thrown into a deep sadness at the suicide of my husband’s son, and I too felt a deep resonance with healing through the seven chakras. I was unaware of the religious connection to the chakras, and for this reason alone I found Captured by the Holy Spirit entirely unique and refreshing. Born into a religious family, I have at times struggled with juggling religion and spirituality, but the author does so with remarkable ease, and encourages others to do the same.
This book has left me with a sense of deep gratitude. It’s one of those stories that leaves you thinking long after you’ve finished, and inspires you to adopt the methods detailed within. Highly recommended.
Captured by the Holy Spirit by author Lisa Leikam is a memoir of how she coped with the death of her brother Lenny and continued to look for signs or affirmations of God's grace. Lenny had committed suicide and the author was concerned about the journey of his soul after a suicide. Lisa and her family are Catholic and she asked God for a sign for assurance that her brother was in peace. As she continues looking for signs from God or angel numbers, her faith is increased and her desire to know and understand more about the Holy Spirit blossoms. She refers to using the study of Chakras for balance and healing. I do not remember her saying she has a regimen for a time of prayer and study of the Holy Scriptures. Overall the book encourages people to look for affirmations and to acknowledge everyday signs as messages from God or the Holy Spirit.
This was a touching story of one woman's journey through grief towards enlightenment. A hopeful message for anyone who is looking for reassurances on everlasting life, love and peace. Through her personal stories the author shows us all how spirit can move in and out of our lives, comforting us and helping us to grow and expand spiritually if we are open to it. Whether it's finding pennies along your path or butterflies dancing right in front of you you can't help but wonder what hidden messages the spirits and angels may have for you. Well written with multiple images of the signs she witnessed along her journey.
This is an extraordinary book by an amazingly talented author. I was captivated from the very first page. There are lessons to be found as you weep with the loss of family and marvel at the strength, personal courage and quiet dignity of this woman of God. This book is a beautiful journey that will inspire you and have you cheering. Mostly you will find the messages from Heaven all around you around you. this is powerful book you won't easily forget.
Reviewed by Jane Finch for Readers' Favorite Captured by the Holy Spirit by Lisa Leikam is described by the writer as a memoir, and is a series of events and life experiences as related by her. The writer also looks at signs that she has received throughout, which are more than coincidences, and which have had a significant effect on her life and how she has interpreted them. The book relates chronologically incidents that have been memorable and in some cases life changing. She searches for justification and reasoning behind the events that have occurred, and takes the reader on a life journey that is filled with fear of the unknown, eventual understanding, and ultimately peace.
This is more than just a piece of work by an author. This memoir relates a number of emotions that come across in the writing, and the author successfully takes the reader on not just a life journey but a spiritual journey also. The style of writing flows well so that one section naturally leads on to the next and the reader is swept into the text and left with a compulsion to keep reading. Lisa opens her heart in this book and her personal experiences evoke both emotion and a feeling of her own determination to understand and overcome. In some ways, it is a quest to find peace, which is successfully conveyed. The writing is not too deep or overpowering in spiritual text and the way the story reflects on real life incidents enables the reader to consider and reflect on their own life journey.
