The first part wasn't that amazing, but beyond the 50% mark... *clutches heart* So, so beautiful. <3
extraordinary ordinary whimsy
I am a big fan of sweet Christmas stories and this is a sweet Christmas story but it is also so much more than that. Meghan has such a way with words and her strong beautiful faith flows through this book and makes it, not just sweet but special. I can't wait to read her other book now.

Wrapped in Red is all about family, hope, and healing. It's a fun contemporary novella, but not without its difficult parts, including a prickly heroine with a wounded heart that longs to love again. I enjoyed the sweet side of Christmas in the city, and the ending is thought-provoking and inspiring.

*From my review on www.rachaelreadsfiction.wordpress.com *

After finishing a book, are you ever stuck in between the fictional and physical world? It's the feeling where you're present in your everyday life, but your mind constantly wanders to the fictional world and you're wistful to go back.

I've been like that since I've finished Wrapped in Red. I feel sad that I'm no longer experiencing Merry and Sam's lives and I'm constantly reminded of them when people around me say or do things that relate

This was my first read of Ms. Gorecki's and I enjoyed it. Even though it's not Christmas anymore, she transported me into the spirit of Christmas and the traditions and signs of the season you look for. I also enjoyed reading a different part of the world, that I've not been to...Pittsburgh.
Besides that, I enjoyed the romance between Merry and Sam. Both have some past hurts that they had to work through while navigating the relationship waters. I enjoyed the faith element and watching them fall

Wonderful sweet romance novella full of family tradition and healing. The characters are authentic and endearing. The Pittsburg setting comes to life with sights, sounds, smells, and even good eats. Encouraging message, entertaining story, and fireworks to boot!

Merry Grainger is at her wit’s end. It’s Christmas, but nothing is going according to “The Most Wonderful Time of Year” adage. The latest disaster finds her stranded along side the road. Her cute albeit smug rescuer isn’t helping anything.

As Merry starts the holiday season with her family, she discovers her mother has her eye on the latest eligible bachelor, and much to Merry’s dismay she knows him. Sam is the cute guy who rescued her. Only trouble is, she isn’t interested in being the center of

Wrapped In Red by Meghan Gorecki may be the victim of my high expectations. Elated and excited by the Pittsburgh setting and my appetite whetted by glowing reviews, I couldn't wait to dive into this Christmas novella.

While the writing was above average, it could use another pass by a sharp-eyed editor.

The characters were thinly - or maybe just predictably - developed. The conflict initially seemed miniscule, but as the faith theme developed, it became more fully realized. That said, its resoluti

I'd heard good things about Ms. Gorecki's first book, but hadn't fit it into my reading schedule yet. Then I heard she was writing a Christmas novella and that seemed a perfect way to get to know her writing. I really enjoyed it! Merry and Sam are rather easy to root for, even when Merry's being a little ridiculous. Let's just say that she has a few quirks that made me simultaneously laugh and yet wish I could knock some sense into her so she could realize how silly she was being! But t

"There is only one person who will never let you down, you know."

Merry Grace Grainger knows what it's like to be let down, so she's terribly afraid to hope that her well meaning family has actually introduced her to someone who will absolutely not fall into the "let down" category. . . . . well, they didn't actually "introduce" her to Sam Shephard, but that's another story entirely.

Sam Shephard is entranced by the lovely red-head, Merry Grainger's tight-knit family so different from his own, bu

I read this last year and could have sworn I wrote a review...well, apparently I didn't. So here we go...

I remember beginning this novella and thinking - yep, I identify with SO much in this main character. I loved her reactions to things, her sense of humor, and the reality that life as a single person around the holidays is not always fun. I also really liked Sam and his character. He wasn't perfect, but I prefer my heroes (and heroines) to be that way.

I also could soooo relate to a meddlesom

I loved this book. As someone who didn't watch a single Hallmark Channel Christmas movie this year. (I just couldn't bring myself to watch any of them without my mom). Though I do love them. This book filed that void for me. Cause even though I couldn't bring myself to watch those movies this year, I still wanted the feeling those movies give. And Wrapped in Red did that and more.

Merry Grainger has a tough time dealing with the holidays. Five years ago, her grandfather passed away at Christmastime, just a week after her boyfriend dumped her on the eve of her birthday. Sam Shepard doesn’t much enjoy the holidays, either, his mother having passed several Decembers ago, causing him to become estranged from his family. When Merry gets caught in a snowstorm on the way home for Thanksgiving and a smug snowman comes to her rescue, the two think it will be the last time they eve ...more

Some Christmas stories are light and fluffy, some are deep, some mysterious. This one is fun, and engaging with elements that will make you pause and think. Just like real life, this isn’t a fluffy, sticky sweet, story. There are rocks in the road, or maybe I should say slide-offs (since its a winter story).

Will this swoon-worthy hero, Sam be able to gain the trust of the heroine, Merrry who has built up a wall around her heart? There are super fun moments in this story that will have you laughi

Sweet like sugar cookie (Christmas tree shaped)

On a scale of cotton candy to Brussels sprouts, Wrapped in Red by Meghan Gorecki is an Eat 'n Park sugar cookie. Not only is this Pittsburgh staple big, but it's so yummy too. For the record, I almost choose a Primanti's sandwich, but although accurate in a few ways, a sandwich is not sweet enough.

Merry is a bit of a hopeless romantic and hopeful cynic all at once. She's strong, spunky, and thoughtful. Her family has matchmaking plans for her, and s

A charming read

Wow! What a great beginning for Meghan Gorecki's first novella! The characters are relatable in that they aren't perfect, but on a journey to discovering their greatest need...their need for Christ, and not just each other. I love Merry and her fun, adorable family. Merry struggles with so many issues that are relatable to young women today. It's so hard opening up your heart, especially after being hurt before. Ms. Gorecki pens a sweet and vivid holiday tale that not only portra

A perfect Christmas novella to show that even “real” characters can get a little Christmas magic. What does that mean? Well these characters aren’t perfect, which make them totally relatable. And yes, who doesn’t love the perfect hallmark characters? But you can’t connect with them or understand them. Merry and Sam had their faults, and to be honest it made the novella better!

Anyone who has experienced a painful heartache or grief at the holiday season will feel a connection with Merry Grainger. Hardened by the hurt and burdened with a sense of failure, Merry shields her heart with a sharp tongue and aloofness; but doing so has shielded her from her family who loves her desperately and from a man who may have the cure to what her breaking heart needs. A Christmas play, some matchmaking teens, and a wise grandmother help show Merry that her hurt can only be healed by ...more

If you’re not in the holiday mood yet, I guarantee you will be after reading Wrapped in Red. This story really fits its title, wrapping you up in all of its sweet nostalgia, Christmas spirit, and love in the December air.

Our leading lady, Merry, is struggling to find her place and letting go of serious trust issues. Her life isn’t perfect, but she has an adorable support team in her family and an inner strength that I admired in her. As soon as Sam enters her world, her life gets even more compl

Really, this story can be enjoyed any time of year, especially since its timeline swiftly covers the entire holiday season from Thanksgiving to the New Year.

I LOVED it! The story was cute, funny, and subtle in revealing the heart of the characters. It comes full circle to a place of healing, trust, and of the hope of love. In more than one way, Merry and Sam learn what it means to bravely risk your heart by stepping out in faith. I really liked the emphasis of family Meghan includes: its importa

Charming, Sweet, Real

This novella hits just the right spot. It is charming and sweet. It also is real. Merry and Sam are flawed, hurting real people. Both are in need of healing and both need to learn to trust. Letting go of past hurts and heartaches before they can truly fall in love. The author does a really great job of writing the romance in this story. It is very believable and not over the top sappy. The family relationships felt true to life too. I hope there are more stories from Three R

This sweet, seasonal novella has all the right ingredients for a Christmas romance. Tight dialogue, interesting characters, and masterful pacing helped me finish it in no time....and wanting more (in a good way!). Gorecki has outdone herself!

This book was just what I was in the mood for. A fun, short Christmas novella to read before the holidays. I loved the messages in this book. It was a piece in my journey to healing from a broken friendship and I loved how the characters worked through their pain from past, unrelated events so that they could have a healthy and strong relationship.

Merry's character was fantastic. She was normal and real and I loved her. Not the drop dead gorgeous heroine you read about so often these days, nor t

This new holiday novella from Meghan Gorecki is super cute and super romantic! (I use the term ‘holiday’ not because I’m one of those people who avoids saying Christmas but because Wrapped in Red covers a time frame from Thanksgiving to New Years’ Eve.)

One of the characters in Chapter 3 observes, “…writing the whole pretty girl falling into a guy’s arms during a snow storm would make a pretty great beginning.” It would … and it does, as a matter of fact! And that’s something I love abo

Wrapped in Red by Meghan Gorecki is a captivatingly sweet holiday novella--a story of Merry and Sam who meet on a snowy night at the side of a road. Little does Merry know but her family is contriving for her to meet Sam, hoping that he might become more than just a friend. Are there too many hurts in her life to let go and open her heart to hope? Is this chocolate crinkle eyed man with the caught-in-the-cookie-jar-smile the one to fix her hurts or does he have his own pain to overcome? Wrapped ...more

This novella is as charming as it is sweet. The two main characters were flawed but take residence in your heart from the start. It's a kind of cozy story that goes great with a fuzzy blanket and a warm cup of coffee.

And an extra bonus was I grew up in the area where the story takes place. So it was both endearing and fresh to see these sights through the eyes of fictional characters. And for the record, Primanti's sandwiches are my weakness so I was thrilled for the restaurant to have a cameo i

This is a charming, adorable, heart-warming holiday novella. It has a very personal and relatable feel. Be prepared to like the fiercely loyal Grainger family, to find Merry adorable, and to fall for Sam with his chocolate crinkle eyes and caught-in-the cookie-jar smile. I just might have to re-read this next November.

A pleasure to read.

Nice plot, nice characters, nice family ties, and great values! I didn't understand why the hero didn't even attempt explain what went wrong with their mishap until after awhile, nor what conditions had sufficiently changed, nor how they recognized the change, in order for resolution to happen.
