...Momotte Shugogetten is a very funny japanese manga comic about a lonely yound man named Tasuke who unleashes a beautiful spirit of the moon, Shao, who's duty is to protect him from misfortune. Shao is very doting and polite. She's also painfully innocent. At first, Tasuke doesn't want Shao around at all. He resents how much he finds her attractive. Later, Tasuke realizes just how lonely he is and wants Shao to stay around forever, as his friend. Shao happily obliges to stay with him, and Tasu ...more

Mamotte Shugogetten was a fantastic story revolving around Tasuke Shichiri, a lonely teen who was left home alone in Japan by his father, who is traveling in China, when he was no more than 9. After receiving gifts from his father, he meets Shaorin (Shao) who is sent to protect him from harm. Shao has been trapped in the gift Tasuke received for thousands of years and has a hard time adjusting to the new place the world has become. Tasuke at first once Shao to leave, but she grows on him; he eve ...more
I started reading this (or, really, looking at the pictures and captions), and despite the beautiful style of the art, the story itself is mundane and kind of boring. It reminds me a little too much of Ah! My Goddess! when Belldandy, Urd, and Skuld are playing around in Kechii's college motor race tech club when they are not trying figure out life on a modern day earth. In this manga, the moon goddess Shao appears out of a ring to anyone with a a pure heart, and is sworn to serve and protect the ...more

it's a really cute story, but the size of the book makes it more than slightly daunting. i had to take this series at a pretty slow pace. the size makes it a good deal to buy, but hard to read. plus, there are tons of dangers one can face with living alone, no matter what era we are taking about. why is that overlooked?

Just as I expected, this is an incredibly dull ripoff of Oh! My Goddess.

Super cutesy, with a hint of adult humor and such. The art style is gorgeous, but kind of generic. I can't wait to see what crazy shenanigans the two goddesses get Tasuke into next!
