Alex Troutt #1-3

The Alex Troutt Thriller Series #1-3

Rate this book
Downloaded by tens of thousands and lauded by reviewers and fellow authors, the award-winning Alex Troutt Thriller Series has been called, "Gripping, tightly plotted, and compelling."

This 250,000-word box set contains the first three novels -- including a Readers' Favorite Gold Medal winner -- and is nearly 900 pages full of intrigue, spine-tingling chills, and jaw-clenching suspense.

AT Bay (Book 1)
Alexandra Giordano never knew she had it so good. Until it was all gone in an instant.

As she begins her daunting quest to uncover the black spots on her memory, what she finds isn’t sweet or charming or even pleasant. And that’s when she begins to question everything, including herself.

Her work as a Special Agent for the FBI is only a distraction, serving as a mental metronome…anything to crank the gears of her feeble mind.

And then it happens—a bizarre, ritualistic murder. She loses herself in her work, fully immersed in the investigation. Unable to recall even her own kids, she’s somehow able to formulate coherent theories on what type of person could pull off such a sickening act.

As her mind slowly plugs a few memory gaps, her emotions are scrambled by the reality of her
worlds colliding. And the resulting explosion tears her in two.

Can she pick up all the incendiary fragments to solve the twisted crime while she clings to some
semblance of sanity?

One woman can only keep so much…AT Bay.

AT Large (Book 2)
The pursuit of the truth. The hunt for a life.

For the first time in months, FBI Special Agent Alex Troutt feels almost normal, hanging out at a local bar with friends after work. Not long into the evening she stumbles over one of the most disturbing images she has ever seen.

And that’s only the beginning.

A body is found in Lowell, the human damage, once again, inconceivable. Hours later, another strike. Pushing heartache aside, Alex immerses herself in the investigation. But with every new clue comes a new twist.

With the killing spree drawing the attention of every intelligence and law enforcement agency in a five-state radius, Alex is forced to partner with an egomaniac from the CIA. Yet, even with limitless resources, every step forward proves to be a step too late, the kill list seemingly endless.

Once the killer makes it personal, Alex is left with no other option—she must confront the person who destroyed her life to try to cease the vicious murders. And when she finally learns the killer’s end game, every second counts if she has any hope of stopping the brutal killings.

The hunt will end. Will Alex?

AT Once (Book 3)
“If you don’t stand for something, you will fall for anything.”

FBI Agent Alex Troutt has no intentions of falling for anything. Apparently, neither do the bad guys, as the Boston area is once again targeted by extremists. Boston Strong of just a few years ago is now Boston on Edge. And this time, the targets are men of the cloth—priests.

At least that’s how it looks at first.

As investigators struggle to make sense of the bombings, Alex is thrown for a loop when the FBI assistant director asks her to investigate one of their own—a colleague and friend who is suspected of having ties to a known terrorist. Torn between her values of friendship and the oath she gave when she accepted her FBI credentials, Alex must now lead two investigations simultaneously.

Book1.
WOW! I read this book in a day! Yeah, it is that good! Not a typical plot, the story begins when Alex, an FBI agent awakes in the hospital with most of her memory gone and blasts off from there! I'm a character reader, I get into the characters, their story, who/what they are. The author does an amazing job of developing Alex quickly & thoroughly, using memory loss as an effective way of doing so. The significant characters in his writing are developed similarly. This book is in all senses of the word, a thriller, from Alex's memory loss, the accident that caused it, a mysterious murder and missing museum pieces. That’s it, no more spoilers from me though I can see more about this character in the future. Outstanding read!
Book 2.
WOW! I read this book in a day (work got in the way or I'd have taken less time)! Yeah, it is that good! I'm a character reader, I get into the characters, their story, who/what they are. The author does an amazing job of developing Alex quickly & thoroughly, using her memory loss from the first book (also amazing) as an effective way of doing so. The significant characters in his writing are developed similarly. This book is in all senses of the word, a thriller, building from the ground work laid in the first book and continuing with Alex's reinstatement to her role in the FBI and tackling a serial murderer. That’s it, no more spoilers from me though I can see more about this character in the future. Outstanding read!

I've given up on this at 8%. It started well but then I found that the more I read, the less I liked our leading lady, Alex. She is so rude and it's so needless.
I was also a bit baffled near the start. She made some reference to Steffi Graf which caused "a vacuum of silence" but then there was no further reference to it or any explanation. I couldn't find MSP on Google, either.
I reached a passage where she appears to take a comedic pratfall and I packed it up. I found that was all a bit daft. There were a few other remarks that made me smile, I just don't like slapstick humour.
I didn't spotted any glaring spelling or punctuation mistakes, so it gets an additional star for that, even though I didn't like Alex !

A very good set of books

I just finished reading "The Alex Troutt Thrillers: Books 1-3" and enjoyed them very much. Three very different stories that had an interesting and varied cast of supporting characters to help Alex*s search for the killers. There were many twists in the stories to keep you guessing what would happen next. Dealing with her memory loss, her marriage, her children and her FBI career and cases adds up to very interesting stories that I would recommend to readers who like a fast paced, well thought out set of books. I look forward to reading more of John Mefford's books.

'The Alex Troutt Thrillers: Books 1-3' are such a great intro to what becomes one of my favorite series- ' The Redemption Thriller Series'. Lex makes the best lead. She's strong, fierce and very protective of her family and friends. 'AT Bay', 'AT Large' and 'AT Once' are the first three books that start off an explosive and very thrilling series. I love following Alex through a tumultuous journey of life, love and her need for justice. A great add to your tbr list. Definitely a recommended read.

Awesome!!!

I love this author. His characters are fully fleshed out, the stories make sense, there are rarely (if ever) any editing issues... And the books are fun to read. Lots of fun to read. Addictive, to put it mildly. Where there is cussing? No more than listening to a Trump speech... (Ok. Mr. Mefford's is far more enjoyable, and quite therapeutic...)
Amazing books. Will read them all, and everything else he writes...

Enjoyed the Redemption series. The character Alex is defining herself after a life altering event. Her true character emerges as a strong "take no prisoners" FBI agent. She's also a mother trying to figure out teenagers. I have 2 of them and you never really do figure them out! Looking forward to reading more in this series. When I finished this trilogy I learned that John Mefford has quite a few characters to check out in future reading. He's a great writer and one I'll follow.

AN AWESOME READ!!

A can't put down read!! I believe I've already read a few of these book,
BUT, just as AWESOME as the first read, a long time ago.
Fast paced, Alex is a non-stop person, when involved in a case. She will use anything at her disposal to find the answers to the case, she is working on. Alex is kinda like a Timex watch, she'll take a licking and keep on ticking!!

Gripping

Although the stories are suspenseful, it's hard to believe anyone could have the tar beat our of them and still have the strength to do what she could do in every story, time and again. Still, I enjoyed them. Even though, their antics were far fetched.

A pleasant read.

I found the story on this side of unbelievable, but went with it anyway. A lot was not really relevant to the story but I plodded through it as I did not want to miss anything that might later be needed. Fight scenes were really written very well.

Very poorly written - wished I had the time spent reading back

Bought them, persevered as there were so many good reviews, wished I hadn’t bothered. Perhaps the more recent novels are better but life is too short to try finding out.

Language a little to rough

Thought the wording exceeded good taste in book 2.
Also lacked cohesiveness, especially in book 3. Thanks for writing though.
