The Creative Community College

Rate this book
Turning adversity into opportunity, overcoming obstacles, building alliances, systems, and programs that lead to success―each chapter of this popular publication tells a unique story about the distinct challenges community colleges face. It also details the unique responses of community college leaders with the vision to overcome the challenges and the resistance. Take this opportunity to explore how creative and transformational leadership can turn adversity into success. Community college leaders share their real-world experiences including the successes, failures, and risks that led to strengthened institutions, more successful alliances, and the creation of new systems. But this book is really about creative and transformational leadership. Each of the chapters tells a story of unique challenges and equally unique responses by community college leaders who built alliances, systems, and programs, often facing significant obstacles and even active resistance. In The Creative Community College, these leaders share their success, their failures, and the risks they took to strengthen their institutions, to build alliances with school systems, and to create new systems. George R. Boggs, former CEO and President, American Association of Community Colleges

Nice compendium of innovative practices at community colleges. The book was helpful in sparking ideas for me but many wouldn't necessarily apply at my college. I do think it's useful as a reference and while I read it cover to cover I wouldn't recommend doing it that way.
