Mega-fun!

This was an enjoyable read! It's part of the Last Play series and also a companion to the Bachelor Billionaire series, but totally stands on its own. I really enjoy sports-centered stories for some reason, I guess it just adds a fun element to the story.

Lily and Hyde have a fun relationship, the sparks fly pretty quickly and they have good chemistry, fun banter and a sweet romance. Probably one of my favorites of the series.

If you enjoyed this and are looking for something similar, try Delay of Game.

I feel like I need to hang my head in shame because I haven't read any of the other books in this series...yet. Too many books, too little time. However, this book can completely stand on its own. Confession time: I have some weird fascination with professional athletes and celebrities--I love them and their lives, especially when they're like Hyde. I also love the idea of an average girl, like Lily, finding a relationship with someone of this fame.

Hyde plays football and an illness at the end of the football season leaves him in desperate need for a trainer to whip him into shape for the upcoming season. Enter Lily. She's got grit, determination, and doesn't back down on her trainer skills for someone with national popularity. They each come from opposite sides of the tracks, but their common interests are enough to support a solid working relationship with a fragile personal side.

I love Hyde! He's tough and fierce in his sport, but he's a big ol' softy off the field. He's generous, almost to a fault, but has a jealous streak that I couldn't help but adore. Lily is motivated and aggressively loyal, especially when her large family is involved. She's got priorities and nothing messes with her--except her small streak of insecurity. The explosive combination of their personalities ignites a genuine and turbulent chemistry that ensnared my heart. I definitely need to go back and read the other books in this series, so that I can get the full scoop on those whom I only caught glimpses of in this story.

Both the hero and heroine were very family focused. The hero had money, but was doing his best to keep his crumbling family- or, at least, his one last crumbling family member- together. The heroine had a good family, but was doing her best to get them money so her siblings could follow their dreams. Then the hero comes into the scene with a job for her, and her family welcomes him with open arms.

Ironically, it is both money and family that tear them apart. Which one of those two has a chance at bringing them back together again...? Read and find out, silly.

Today I have a book written by Cami Checketts, who is one of my favorite, trusted authors in the clean romance world. She has guest authored this book in the Last Play series by Taylor Hart. (also one of my favorites!) It's just awesome all the way around.

This Last Play series revolves around professional football players. I've read every single one of them and enjoyed them all so much. Occasionally characters from previous books make an appearance and it makes this whole series feel a bit like coming home.

The sparks immediately fly between Hyde and Lily. Lily may have a bit of fan girl syndrome when it comes to Hyde and because of that she is determined to get him into top shape for his upcoming football season. As Lily gets to know Hyde, she realizes that he is a great man on and off the field. I loved how their relationship progressed so naturally from attraction to admiration and friendship to more. Lily's family was a fun addition to the story and brought a lot of moments of connection for me as a reader.

This was the perfect book for me to read this week. I needed a good, romantic escape after reading a book that had my heart pounding with anxiety and suspense! Pass Interference had me smiling and made my heart happy.

Making Me Into A Football Fan

I don't really follow sports, but I would follow the Denver Storm! I love the Last Play series with its larger than life football players, who are such teddy bears when it comes to the women in their lives.

This story follows Hyde Metcalf, who seeks a personal trainer to get him into shape for the football season after recovering from a bout with pneumonia. Lily is a great trainer. She seems very intense and motivating with her job.

I loved seeing this romance blossom. I loved Lily's family and Hyde's mother and "Aunt". They cracked me up! This was a great clean romance. It also had the side effect of making me want to go to the gym!

This was a fun, if predictable, romance! I really liked the main characters, especially Lily. She is the oldest of 7 kids and sacrifices a lot financially to help her parents and younger siblings. I love how important family is to her! As the 4th of 9 kids, I could relate to a lot of those sacrifices -- but having awesome siblings trumps anything material you may have to go without!

Pass Interference is by Cami Checketts. This book is one of several surrounding football players. This book is about Hyde Metcalf. Hyde is the best wide receiver the Denver Storm has ever seen. However, he missed the last few games of the season due to being hospitalized with pneumonia. He hasn’t fully recovered and has several months before training begins. He needs to hire a trainer for the time between now and the training in September. He needs to get back in peak form. However, he needs to stay in Golden, Colorado to be near his Mother who has the beginnings of Alzheimers. Right now, he is living with her so she can stay at home. His honorary Aunt stays with his Mother during the day. He could drive into Denver to work out; but it is too far away right now. He has his agent research trainers and finds the best is in Golden. She is Lily Udy.
Lily is trying to get clients in The Fitness Academy. She has several; but wants to have more. Her boss, Malee, calls her into the office and tells her she has a new client. Lily is thrilled to have a new client and is overjoyed to find it is Hugh Metcalf. Lily and her little brother, Josh, have followed his career in football. Can she train him and yet stay objective? Will Hyde play in the Christmas game?

After recovering from pneumonia, Hyde needed a trainer to get him into shape for the upcoming football season. That brought him to Lily. Though I didn't like Lily's fangirl attitude in the beginning, I really liked how she never backed down or made the training easy for Hyde, but pushed him to his limits. She was determined to help get Hyde back in top condition.

I loved that Hyde was tough on the field but gentle with the women in his life. He was so good with his mom. Being patient with her wasn't easy since she was in the early stage of Altzimers. And his "Aunt" was a hoot. But I really liked Lilly's family. She was devoted to them all. And it was a really big family.

Being a fan of this author, it came as no surprise that I loved this book. But what did surprise me is HOW MUCH I LOVED THIS BOOK!

Who's Crying Now?

He's a big name in the sports, an only child, a multi-millionaire, whose father has bailed out and whose mother has Alzheimer's.
She's a physical trainer, one of seven children living on the salary of a forest ranger. She sends every penny she doesn't need to live on back to her family.
So when he needs a trainer near his mother to get him past the pneumonia he is just recovering from so that he will be ready for fall training, and she will get a large raise plus a $10,000 bonus at the end of the summer, things couldn't look rosier.
But --
Checketts paints a picture of lives complicated by the jealousy and lies of others.
Recommended for all readers of clean Christian romance.

Lily and Hyde

Lily is one of the best trainers in Colorado. Now she has confirmation. Hyde Metcalf is in her bosses office and they sent, ugh Ike, to tell her she was needed in Malee's office. How she hated leaving that loser Ike in charge of her class even for a few minutes, oh well it couldn't be helped if the boss needed her. What happens when she gets to the office? Will she and Hyde make a good connection and will he listen to her as he trains to get back to where he needs to be after his pneumonia by the start of training season? Only one way to find out, read this great story by Cami Checketts!

Hyde's determination to recoup after battling pneumonia while caring for his mother and Lily's spunk and strong work ethic bring them together forming a powerful team. Their success in the training room and mutual attraction leads to a much closer relationship. However outside forces are determined to pull them apart. I was moved by the theme of forgiveness that was required by a number of characters in this book in order to overcome the obstacles that were faced. I look forward to more Georgia Patriot Romances to come!

Perfect until the end

I was totally loving this book until the end. Hydes mom ruined it for me. I get that she was going through some tough stuff, but her response didn't feel healthy to me and bordered on disturbing and a twisted Oedipus complex thing. It was too over the top for a mother/son relationship and was obsessive and creepy. Otherwise, i loved the book. It was clean and sweet. A lot of fun.

Great story with believable characters. Lily is so down to earth even though she is a huge fan of Hyde. In fact, her whole family is kinda obsessed with him, in a good way. Hyde tries to stay true to himself as he navigates his mother’s early onset Alzheimers while he quickly falls for Lily. I love Josh and his uncontainable enthusiasm. Truly enjoyed reading this book and the rest of the series is on my TBR.

This is the second book I've read by Cami, and I liked it a lot better than the first book I read. (I think she writes better in this genre than suspense.) It didn't hurt that it was set in Colorado and the characters go to Casa Bonita, one of the coolest restaurants ever! :-) I loved Hyde and Lily, but I really love Lily's little brother...He made the story worth while!

Best Georgia Patriot ever!

Best Georgia Patriot ever! (Well . . . Maybe until the next one.) I couldn’t put it down. I didn’t want it to end. I love realistic, not perfect, heroes and heroines, and books that make me cry with and for the characters, and books that make me laugh with the characters! This book has it all. I loved it!

Trust Me

Lily is hired to train Hyde to be ready for the start of the football season in two months. Lily is the oldest of 7 children and sends most of her check home to help out for family. Will a rich football guy and a poor trainer hit it off? Cami has written another wonderful story.
Her characters are strong and believable . This is really a wonderful book. Must read.

Sweet

It was a sweet clean romance. I enjoyed reading it. I liked how the author gave Lily a normal type family and lifestyle. It was also nice to read about being Christian based. Hyde was biracial but it wasn't the focus of the story. He bounded with her family and friends great. I am excited to red more from this author.

Both Hyde and Lily are energetic, compassionate characters. Their idea about romance involves active adventures, but it works well with the story and the characters. The poor girl/rich boy storyline is predictable, but the story is fun, fast paced, and enjoyable. Secondary character, Josh, is my favorite.

I enjoyed it. It was cute. It was a bit far fetched but it was light and fluffy, except for the not so fun stuff. I still liked it all the same. I was frustrated at his skepticism of her the whole flipp'in time, that made me made. I'm glad it was resolved.
