After reading this Wonderful Book, I must say that I'm absolutely excited because finally I have a book that I can share to my 3rd and 4th graders. Dr. Pookie is such a nice guy and some of the characters just had my children cracking up. It's really an exceptionally-animated book with a fun story that will keep children interested in listening to it. This is not only a remarkable story that teaches self-esteem and etiquette, it also can be a foundation for young readers to emulate the character ...more

Isabella Church, the author of the LOL romantic comedy novel, Angry Movie Guy, is coming out with her first children’s book, Dr. Pookie and The case of his Missing Thought. Even if the book seems to be meant for the little ones, guess what?! Anyone can read it – you never know when you can lose your thought, right? It’s better to be prepared.

What I mostly enjoyed in Isabella’s book was the way she combined the present – marked by the social media -, with a tone of fine humor and life lessons abo

Having two younger siblings can be tough, and especially if you parents think that if you are book blogger you should know what to read the 7 & 9-year old before sleep or just at the read-a-book time.
Thus me, who loved Sci-fi and a good fantasy, was bound to search the internet and look through my favourite authors' books to find a suitable children's book. Some time ago, I have come across Izzy church's first book: Angry Movie Guy, and loved it, when I was looking through my website, I fou

This slightly different bear will have kids and adults giggling the whole way through.

Dr. Pookie lives in a furnished to taste man(bear)-cave on the edge of Little Royal Forest and isn't totally pleased by the not so nice words being spread about him. So he throws a party. And that's the beginning of this bear's amazing, uncanny and, at times, down-right ridiculous adventures.

The story is told from the viewpoint of Dr. Pookie, a slightly older bear, who likes to look back at his good old days. D

Dr. Pookie and The Case of his Missing Thought by Izzy Church Super funny book. I would say kids of all ages would love it but it seems more geared toward maybe the 7 to 10 range by the larger words used, In the book Eccentric Dr. Pookie who is a bear by the way leaves the busy town of Little Royal Forest to move to the top of Bear Mountain, basically for some peace and quiet. Dr. Pookie is a quite famous bear, for his good deeds to his good looks and more. But not all the gossip is nice, so he ...more

Received this a Goodreads giveaway. I really did not enjoy this book. I started reading the first two chapters with the kids (5 and 6) and they were not into it. I finished it on my own. The social media/tabloid references were fine at the start but they went on too long ... that's mostly why the kids gave up and wanted me to stop reading. Once the book got into the actual story of Pookie and his missing thought it felt less like it was dragging on but my feelings on it were neutral at best. It ...more

"Dr. Pookie and the Case of His Missing Thought" by Izzy Church is a really great book for perhaps children in Grade 3 or 4 and also adults as I found the book itself appealing too. Who hasn't forgotten what they meant to say at one time or another? This story was so humorous and I think it will definitely appeal to people of all ages.
I received a copy of this book from the publishers via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

Isabella church tried her hand at writing a children's book and the results are quite unexpected; not only has she managed to create a witty link between current "grown up stuff", she has managed to do so in splendid fashion. Even as a 22 year old Psychology major I was deeply entrenched in the story of the lovable bear Dr Pookie and managed to read the entire book in one sitting.
Dr. Pookie is a witty and humorous story book for children and some childish adults like me. The story revolves aroun

I was looking for a book that my niece could read and when I got notified that Izzy Church had a children’s book coming out I decided to give it a go. I’m a fan of Izzy’s work since I read her romantic comedy novel, Angry Movie Guy. Dr Pookie And The Case of His Missing Thought absolutely met my expectations.
This is what the book is about: Pookie misses his friends and he throws a party to spend some quality time with them. As they are all sitting around listening to uplifting music and enjoying

What a delightful Children’s book. I liked the cover art and the book is full of great illustrations to help children visualize the characters. The book is warm, friendly and full of humor. The author does a great job of describing the forest, Dr. Pookies man-bear cave and giving names to the animal friends of Dr. Pookie.

Dr. Pookie is a large brown bear who has excellent self esteem! He says in the book: “stared at my handsome reflection” , “Wow! It’s rough being this gorgeous”.

Dr. Pookie is a humorous children’s book about a brown bear and his friends as they go about their daily lives. They have many wacky adventures throughout the course of this book, which seems to be aimed at children from ages six to nine. The writing is clear and for the most part, easy to understand. It is written from a first person point of view, that is to say, from the perspective of Dr. Pookie the brown bear. In the beginning, Pookie is introduced in kind of a silly manner, where he digs u ...more

I was quite impressed with Izzy Church and her ability to write, not only a romantic comedy, Angry Movie Guy, but also a fun-loving children's book.
Dr.Pookie is a considerate bear who lives with his animal friends in the Royal Forest. Due to his charismatic ways, many articles are written about him-both with a positive and sometimes negative twist.
Being a considerate bear, the negative articles begin to affect him and he seeks to find a way to eliminate any bad publicity by having a grand celebr

Dr. Pookie and The Case of his Missing Thought is a humorous, sweet and entertaining read. Dr. Pookie, a man-bear who has graced the cover of BQ Magazine, has bags full of character and charisma added to wonderfully written comedic timing.
This innocent make believe world is full of characters who are both amusing and illustrated in interesting artwork which adds to the vibrancy of the story. The simple yet imaginative plot is pleasantly narrated. The story is fun, and like all good children’s
