My appreciation for this book grows with each reading. At first I thought the signs had not much relationship to what small children might want to communicate. I still am looking for a source with all relevant words for a 1 year old. That said, I do see a flow/story to this book as the background image in one page connects to the word/foreground action of next page. The child engages with her caregiver but is the focus of the sign use. Now if I could only remember these to share with E., or for us to have need of more than the milk sign.
