"My Mate Jack" is a friends to lovers GFY story that fallows the two MC, Will and Jack and how their relationship progress over the years.

Will and Jack have been friends since they were 6-7 years old when Jack moved across the street. They been together since, sharing everything about each other. Jack knows that Will is gay, but he doesn’t care about his mate’s sexuality. By the time they are 15, Jack who is straight (or he pretends and knows he is) had many girlfriends, but Will is s

Umberto Eco is causing me to regress psychologically. I am finding starting his book "Foucault's Pendulum" daunting and I am avoiding reading it. I borrowed three books from my niece and am reading them instead.

The first was that horrible "Following Me" by K.A. Linde that I reviewed last week and now this sweet little novella. The third book will be "And All the Stars" by Andrea Hoste.

Let's be clear the writing style was really 2.5 stars but I gave the book a

Wow, and here I thought Fair Catch by Del Darcy was an angsty read. That book has absolutely nothing on My Mate Jack in the frustration department.

Will, who's gay, and Jack, who's never said he was anything but straight, have been best friends since they were six years old and pretty much lived in one another's pockets until the end of high school. Closer than brothers.

But the week before Will leaves for college in Leeds and Jack flies off to Ibiza for a summer DJ gig, they have sex. Full-on,

I've never been to Ibiza but it's amusing how people mention the island once and again in books, TV and movies. What I usually hear about Ibiza is "DJs, Paris Hilton, balconing and cruisers". I guess it's about time I go for a visit if only to change that opinion. All those British people can't be wrong when they keep coming, right? It's not as if we forced them to. Still, I have always been fond of Medieval or Imperial cities, nightlife and beaches are not that attractive to me in comparison.

A story that didn't really engage me. I liked the characters but they didn't interact as much as I would have liked and their actions frustrated me. This was a short read so I found it was a bit choppy with the time jumps and email convos. I'll check out the second in the series to see what's the what.
My Mate Jack is about 2 lads, Will and Jack, who have been best mates since they were about six years old. The story is told from Will's POV (which you can probably tell from the title). Jack is the first person that Will ever came out to. As they grow up, Will's feelings for Jack become more than just feelings of friendship, but Jack is straight.

Jack, however, is also a bit adventurous and using that excuse to initiate a kiss, and later, just before Will leaves for university and Jack is about

3.5* Its really weird reading a book that's set in a place you know well so references to Beeston and Headingley (areas of the city of Leeds) had me chuckling through this one.

It's short, a teeny bit angsty, but has a fabulous ending and a HFN which I can believe would easily become a HEA.

I liked both Will and Jack, they felt real in both their relationship development and in the final realisation that, for Jack, Will was his person.
El mejor New Adult MM que he leído.

Hmm, Will and Jack have been friends since they were 6 and 7. Will is gay and Jack was the first person he told. Jack on the other hand is straight. Or is he? Because Jack asks Will to be his first, even though Jack is straight; he doesn't want to go away for his job still a virgin. I don't really care for these tropes because I don't find them believable. A straight 18 year old virgin decides the girls he knows aren't good enough to loose his virginity to, so of course he decides to do it with ...more

I might try to finish this story by this author whose stories I have liked until now - but the problem is that too much of this story is concentrated in one of my major peeves, the use of miscommunication and misunderstandings which can easily be remedied if these so called close friends really TALK to each other and clear things up instead of just making assumptions.

There are some lovely bits and pieces, some quite charming and funny, and I do love a friends to lovers, and even more so if comb

Best friends to lovers is a tried and true trope that can be pulled off spectacularly or shabbily. I’m pleased to say that this was a smashing success. Will and Jack became best mates at a tender age and have held fast to each other. They experience many ‘firsts’ together, including Will’s first kiss. It’s during this cataclysmic moment when the world shifts. Will has longed for Jack, craved an intimate touch for much longer than he’d care to admit, but he kept this secret carefully guarded. He ...more

The best part about this story is the friendship twixt Will and Jack. It’s grounded, sometimes complicated and definitely accepting. What surrounds them is a rather typical, no new ground broken story. Then again, I don’t always need that for a story to be enjoyable. I was pretty sure I knew what I would be getting in reading this and I was right.

It was easy to get to know Will – the story is told from his point of view – and Jack. Keeping in mind that they are rathe
Why did I wait so long to read this? Ugh. Childhood friends to lovers? Come on! It's one of my most favorite tropes ever!

This was adorable.
This was sexy.
This was angsty and thank fuck for that.
This was fun and funny and fan-fucking-tastic.
This was everything I didn't know I needed today.

Will and Jack.
Jack and Will.

Yeah, this was good. So good that in my mind I am currently dancing my redhead ass off at a rave in Ibiza.

This book was just ok. It definitely wasn't the Garrett Leigh that i'm used to. It felt rushed (even tho it spanned over a few years) and choppy. I did enjoy the e-mails a lot. That's where I feel the guys were most real...but it still didn't help me connect with them.
3.5 stars! Novella about friends to lovers where one is gay and the other straight... premise was really good but somewhere along the way the miscommunication just got too frustrating and not really understandable. It was clear as day that Will and Jack were more than best friends but they kept having these issues where they missed the clues the other was giving. However I liked how amazing their chemistry was without any awkwardness at all... 😍 and how they kept in touch via emails.. 😊. All in ...more

A new series by Garrett Leigh? Hell Yessss!!!

Garrett Leigh is one of my favorites authors, so I was looking forward to this one.

My Mate, Jack is a young adult, coming-of-age, friends-to-lovers story, and very different from Garrett's previous books. It’s a slightly unusual but entertaining, lovely read and for me it was easy to connect with Will, the narrator.

Will and Jack have a long and bumpy road to go until they finally get their HEA.

All in all, it was a great friends to lovers story and
Even though the characters were separated for months at a time and it played on the Big Misunderstanding/Lack of Communication tropes that I don't normally enjoy, there was something about this one I found compelling.

3.5 STARS!

This story was really good for me. It was nothing new and the plot has been used a lot of times but I thought it worked really well here. It was short yet it got my attention.

It's about Will and Jack who were best friends since they were kids and Will was openly gay to Jack while Jack always thought he was straight. It took them a while before they realized that they were meant for each other. I would not say it's Jack's fault because there were a lot of factors and Will wasn't forthco

Just couldn't connect with MCs. Everytime I read a Garret Leigh, I always compare it to Pete and Ash from Slide series. I want that kind of chemistry. Didn't feel that here.
3.5 stars.

A really nicely done take on the gfy/friends to lovers theme.

Friends to lovers is one of my all time favorite tropes.
I have an insatiable appetite for them and often times buy them without even reading the blurb.

Garrett Leigh, is an excellent story teller and this latest installment I just read by Leigh has solidified my devotion to buy a Leigh book without fear of a huge disappointment.

Will and Jack have been best friends their whole lives. Will is gay and Jack labels himself straight... until they both have one amazing night of sex before going their sp

As the blurb lays it out – Will’s been gay since he can remember and Jack’s been okay with it all along. Jack has always been “straight” though, and Will has had to be content to crush on him from afar… or not so far. Turns out that Jack’s willing to “help” Will now and then in his route to sexual maturity. Surely a kiss is a kiss is a kiss – right? And – well – everyone needs some sort of sexual experience before they head off to be an “adult” – right?

Needless to say, these helpful sessions do
