Another series set in Chance Creek and I am sure you're figuring out that Cora Seton is a favorite go-to author for me. Trust me, romance lovers you will not be disappointed!

Brides of Chance Creek begins with a U.S. General receiving letters from his deceased wife who encourages him that it is time their five daughters settle down and find good men to help on their maternal families ranch. The General soon decides Navy SEAL, Lieutenant Brian Lake is just what headstrong eldest daughter, Cass, n
DNF at 26%.

I wasn't expecting the next Booker prize winner from this book, just some light SEAL turns cowboy romance. What I got made my blood boil so much that I had to DNF for the sake of my blood pressure.

General Reed has five daughters, after his wife died he couldn't bear to return to the ranch so he left the girls with a series of female guardians and ranch foremen to look after them and the ranch. Understandably peeved by effectively losing both parents the girls acted out and drove each

I really like Cora Seaton. Her books are romantic, funny and have a touch of mystery. This one has all the elements, but it is just too long. I liked it well enough and the paranormal touch was believable. Cora likes to force the issue in her books and here we have a General calling the shots and making his daughters and the servicemen under his direct control dance to his tune.

General Augustus Reed is a man on a mission - get his five daughters married off to the right men, and to the General t

This story focuses around Cass and Brian but being the first in a series, the author does a good job introducing the characters that will be involved in this series. The reader is given a outline of what we can expect in the next books.

Cass has had to shoulder most of the responsibility at Two Willows, Ranch since their mother's death and their fathers abandonment. She loves her sisters but is struggling with them, their relationships and da

Once again Cora Seton has kicked off a great series set in Chance Creek. This series features five sisters living on the Two Willows Ranch. Their father, the General, has decided that each of the girls needs to get married and he has just the men in mind! Under his command are 5 service men who desperately need a second chance before their military career ends. So with the promise of an honorable discharge, the General is sending each man on a final mission. They are each set out to woo and then ...more

This book could have been amazing
But it was just so damn unbelievable. I believe that a book like twilight had a better chance of being reality than this one. Standing stone, mazes, fortune tellers, premonitions, secret drug gang infiltrating the ranch, firework addictions, spec forces issued as husbands to naive women, and falling in love with barely any common dialogue and in a matter of a couple weeks... it was just too damn much to absorb. Good action tho and I lo

Issued to the Bride: One Navy Seal is the first book in the Brides of Chance Creek series. The premise of the series is that General Reed has five daughters. After his wife died, he came into possession of a set of letters she left for him all with dates in the future. As he reads through the letters, he is told by his wife that he has to find husbands for his daughters. (It seems his wife could see the future). The General finds five soldiers who have messed up in their military service. Each g ...more
The initial foray into a series that details the outcomes of orchestrated marriages for the estranged daughters of a father whose military career has always seemed to take priority over any need his family felt. Even when their mother died the man never came back after her funeral and any grieving done was without support from the girls one surviving parent.

To say there are bitter or harsh feelings for The General as he is known throughout the story would be an understatement of epic proportions

This was an enjoyable start to a new series. I hope to read the rest of the series at some point in the future.
Brian is a SEAL working for the General who is sent to Montana to help his daughters with their ranch. Cass is the daughter that Brian sets his sights on.
The chemistry between them is wonderful and I loved reading as Brian helped each one of the sisters with some tricky predicaments.

Cass and Brian's story is so cute! I loved how Cass at first didn't want anything to do with him but eventually he wins her over. They both have some issues but together they work well together. Such a great book! Can't wait to read Sadie and Connor story next!

I love Cora Seton's books and was excited to start this new series. This is about 5 sisters who live on a ranch in Chance Creek, Montana. They are unmarried adults with their only parent being a general in the military who they rarely see since his work is very important to him. He also hasn't wanted to go back to the ranch after the death of his wife. So the girls are running it even with The General sending overseers - who the girls run off. Cass is the oldest and feels she has to look after e ...more

It never ceases to amaze me as to how an author can spin a tale from a thread of an idea, then continue to spread that idea into a series, then another, etc. creating a whole town worth of stories that once you start reading, you find impossible to stop, and of course, that is exactly what Ms. Seton has done with her numerous series revolving around Chance Creek. This is the first of the new series, and WOW! What a punch it packs! Cass has been running the family ranch since her mothers' passing ...more

Honestly didn't think I'd make it through, but it turns out I actually enjoyed this weird little story.
A soon-to-be-ex Navy SEAL is commanded by his General to 'fix the house and marry his daughter'. Cass is the oldest of five sisters, aged between 26-21, they all have their own little quirks, including paranormal senses and there's even a magic rock with predictive powers.
Cass is the homemaker, the 'mother' to them all since their own passed away. With yet another overseer gone - this time one

This is a really fun romance. There are five sisters who are trying to run the family ranch with periodic interference from their father who never comes home since their mother passed away years ago. The father sends men to run things, but they are not as dedicated as the women, who end up having to run them off to keep things running right at the ranch. So, the girls have some issues with men as they are always a problem.
The father is a general and has decided, with some mystical help from the

How does this book have so many good reviews? The first chapter made me want to throw with, it went on so long, it needed a break. Also, this seemed like she wanted us to feel bad for them, but all I wanted to do was slap the girls. I know there truly are people that naive and dumb in this world, but to play it up as a entire family that got used? The girls were clueless to the world. On top of that, they were selfish, thankless, little brats. It took a guy, who surprise surprise was sent by the ...more

Hmmmmmm such wasted potential

Case and Brian could have been great but their chemistry felt as forced as when the general given Brian no choice but to go to the ranch. Cass was repetitive and childish. Brian a saint who let Cass walk all over him. The only thing that saved this book even remotely was the action. Which is the only thing that I look forward to. I will not be reading the other 4 books in the series since it’s likely to repeat itself. Also I couldn’t get passed the premonitions and m

I was such a silly story. It picked up near the middle and I was able to enjoy it, but it was so sill. The whole plot line was ridiculous and the weird superstitious and magical side of the story was just too much to tak. I don't like it when like mystical stuff inserts itself into normal romance novels. They just really feel out of place and for me, unwelcome. Also pregnancy scare? Come on.

This was so bad... I read it because it was the only ebook left on my phone, that I could read while being on the train. If I could give it 0 stars I would.
If I had to make a list of all the issues I have with this 'book' (doesn't even deserve the name in my opinion) it would take you all day to read that.
An Unconventional Romance

Cora writes another winner. This is my third book of hers and they have all been good. And they have been free ebooks so double great. Interesting premise with great execution and a surprising amount of action. Setting: Montana.

It was just ok. I just did not really feel the chemistry. The premise is off putting (men being forced to marry the general’s daughters to clear their service record) and the women do not know. Give me the yucks.

I wanted to give it a 3.5 so just rounded up.
A widowed General with 5 daughters trying to run the family's Montana cattle ranch. He left after his wife's funeral and has never come back. In all his wisdom, and with the help of predated letters from his wife, he has decided it's time for his girls to marry so that men can run the ranch the way it should be. He's just a bit old fashioned (eye roll here) and has sent countless overseers and chaperones over the years.

Issued to the Bride: One Navy SEAL is the first book of a new series by Cora Seton that has a lot of heart, just enough magic to tickle your romantic, and a complicated old man who, I am excited to see, will pull through some surprises as the series unfold.

It started slow and I thought it was one of those books.. nothing special, just a nice read - but then it wasn't and I couldn't put it down. Sure, the thing were the General picks out men for his daughters to marry was a bit .. hm, old-fashioned and not really convincing but I think there is more to the General than his grumpy self, a special reason besides the grief for his wife to avoid going home to his ranch Two Willows and meet his daughters and mend the feelings between them, find a way ba ...more

Issued to the Bride One Navy Seal: Brides of Chance Creek Book 1 is by Cora Seton. It is the start of a new and pretty good series. General Augustus Reed has not been home since his wife died. I loved this idea! General Reed has 5 daughters and unfortunately his wife has passed away a long time ago. He hasn't gotten over her death and won't go home to his daughters. Instead, he sends men to run the ranch and women to help raise the girls. The girls are able to run-off the women sent to raise them. The girls are worried that their father will take the ranch away from them.
