I'll be honest up front: this is probably the hardest book review I've had to write. As far as writing style and ability, I admire Coble. Her writing style is enjoyable and well-rounded.

Content... since I'm given permission for my honest review, that is what I'll stick with. I know other readers who enjoy suspense may like this book, but it was not for me. So, for you readers who are debating whether or not to read this book, here are my thoughts.

At the behest of so many Rock Harbor fans everywhere, Colleen Coble has stepped up to the plate and finally written another chilling tale of murder and mayhem—set in the gorgeous snow-covered forests of Michigan's Upper Peninsula.

911 dispatcher, Dana Newell returns to her beloved small town, Rock Harbor, to escape her terrorizing, abusive ex-boyfriend and gets a lot more than she bargained for. As Dana becomes involved in an investigation of a malevolent serial killer she finds herself being st

I am so happy to have another Rock Harbor novel! I loved getting to "see" Bree (and her family) and learn how things are in Rock Harbor. However, you do not need to read the previous books in the series in order to enjoy Beneath Copper Falls.

The story grabbed my attention from the first chapter on and even though I was super busy when reading this, I couldn't wait to pick the story back up whenever I could.

The mystery/suspense was awesome. I was able to guess the killer pretty early on, but that

Beneath Copper Falls is book six in the Rock Habor series by Colleen Coble. Dana Newell decided to move back home to Rock Harbor and live with her brother Chris after the ending of her abusive relationship with Garrett. On her first day as the Sheriff's dispatcher, Dana Newell received a call from her friend Allyson asking for help. The outcome of this call will effect Dana Newell, Allyson's cousin Boon and the community of Rock Habor. The readers of Beneath Copper Falls will continue to follow ...more

Overall it’s a solid thriller with a lot of mystery to it as you have to pin down which town citizen is the creepy serial killer. Took me until around 75% to figure out who I was sure was the culprit. He was very creepy, stalking and killing women in the area and attacking local folks in broad daylight. It definitely isn’t a cozy mystery with those sorts of vibes.

The best thing about the book, other than a fun little romance between the leads, was getting to see so much of Bree and Sam

A richly layered mystery with moments of suspense and great romantic interludes. I really enjoyed this trip back to Rock Harbor with new characters and old friends. Dana is determined to carve a new life away from an abusive boyfriend, and Boone just wants to be left alone. A murder and appearance of a nemesis throw the two together, but the questions and plot races ahead. It was great to be back with Bree, Kade, and their friends, but I loved the depth of the suspense and the hope of romance. D ...more

It was so nice to be able to return to Rock Harbor and reunite with all of the wonderful characters again!
Colleen Coble wrote a thriller that kept me page-turning even though this past month of craziness prevented me from reading this book quickly.
Dana was such a lovable character and being able to meet her and Boone as new Rock Harbor characters was a treat.
This was a fantastic read and really kept me on edge! Loved it!

Another exciting addition to the Rock Harbor series, including Bree and her faithful search and rescue dog, Samson! Romantic suspense with a few big plot twists, and a very exciting conclusion.

This was one of my favorite series by this author, so I was excited to read this after finishing the others years ago. It made me want to go back and reread them all again. Some of the side characters I had forgotten, but it was easy to follow the story line. It can be read as a stand alone.

Fair warning: If you read this at night, sleep with the light on!!

Colleen Coble has long been one of my go-to authors for romantic suspense. Even pre-blog, y’all. And the Rock Harbor series is comfort food for me. Which sounds odd to say about thrillers but … there’s something about the Upper Peninsula community, its characters, and Coble’s writing style that have the same effect on me as my favorite brownies. I can’t ‘eat’ just one and I crave them on a regular basis.

So imagine my delight when

A crazy twisty, turny, heart-in-throat, tummy-flip-flopping read! I'm still catching my breath. Partly because Coble takes us back to Rock Harbor - sqqquueeaaaal -- and Bree and her hero dog, Samson play a major role in this adventure -- double sqqqquuueeeaaalll. Mildly hyperventilating here because the first ever Colleen Coble book I read was Without a Trace, book 1 in this series and the beginning of Bree's story. So reading Beneath Copper Falls is like coming full circle and it's full of favo ...more
I love the Rock Harbor series. This new addition to the series was a great suspense. I guessed early on who the Groom Reaper was, but I found myself confused a few times and wondering if I was still on the right track.

It was great to catch up with Bree, Kade and Samson. Though their roles were smaller in this book. The focus was on Dana and Boone. I loved how their relationship developed. There was a few mysteries in this story and even a reference to Gwen Marcey, who is a character from another

3.5 stars - Dana returns to her home of Rock Harbor to escape her abusive fiance, but her hometown isn't as safe as she thought it would be. Not only does her abusive ex turn up, but links are found between the murders of several women. Could there be a serial killer on the loose? And will Dana and new romantic interest Boone be able to move past previous setbacks and find happiness together?

I'm a Colleen Coble fan and have read more than 20 of her books. I was really looking forward to this one

Having read Colleen Coble before, I expected this book to have two things: suspense and romance. And this book had both those in plenty.
The suspense was dark and serial killery (which I did not expect at all) and the romance was good. (which I expected).
I liked both the main characters Dana and Boone and they worked for me. I don't like books which are high on romance and low on suspense.
So this book by Colleen Coble ticked all the major points for me. The entire town of Rock Harbor was both cut

Colleen Coble is an avid writer of suspense and historical novels. Both genres are some of my favorite genres to read, so I'm drawn to Coble's writing in that way. I haven't read all her Rock Harbor series, but the number of them that I have read, I have enjoyed. With her newest installment of Beneath Copper Falls, I didn't feel disappointed.

As a romantic suspense novel, it fits nicely into the genre. From the first chapter, I'm running alongside Dana as she wants to escape Garret and his abusiv

Beneath Copper Falls is the sixth installment from the Rock Harbor series by Colleen Coble. Dana looks to find a new life in Rock Harbor. Her first day working as a dispatcher, she received a disturbing call from her friend, Allyson. Dana sends a deputy to help but it is too late and Allyson is found dead. To Dana's disbelief, the death is ruled an accident. With the help of two friends, Bree and Boone, she investigates further, where all three finds themselves in danger.

Have you ever stayed up so late at night to finish a book? Perhaps even trying everything to keep your eye open including holding them open? Well that was my summary of how I spent last night as I began Beneath Copper Falls by Colleen Coble. Just the first three pages had my interest and I knew I was in for an adrenaline rush before my night was over. And yes, even as midnight approached I knew I had to finish this one. I had to know what was going to happen, I mean who can nod off to sleep whil ...more

Like many other readers, I loved Ms. Coble's Rock Harbor series, set in an area of Michigan that I know and love. And although I have never written Ms. Coble asking for more books in the series, I was glad when BENEATH COPPER FALLS came out.

I enjoyed getting to know Dana and Boone. I knew a bit about Dana's job thanks to my son's time working for the sheriff department and it was fun learning about Boone and what made him tick.

The suspense - as my daughter said "sounds scary." I asked if she w

Held my interest all the way through, even once I figured out the killer. However, I am sure that is intentional because it builds up the suspense you feel as you wait for someone to figure it out before it is too late.
As someone who doesn't like books that would prevent me from sleeping well at night, I can recommend this one. It is just the right dose of suspense, with romance mixed in. A wonderful addition to the series.

I am voluntarily reviewing a copy of Beneath Copper Falls by Thomas Nelson Publishers and Netgalley:

I enjoyed reading this suspenseful novel, about a serial killer called the Groom Reaper. If you cringe at getting inside the head of a serial killer and the people that love them...then skip this one. This book deals with the realities of how people think and react from past hurts. Although the Faith element is small it is there. I loved the quote from Dana, "I don't want to, but I know I should be Jesus with skin on for him." Great truth in that. I also liked that Dana could look beyond the phy ...more

My rating 5 out of 5 stars.
There are other books in the series, but this was my first. Colleen hasn’t lost her touch in writing a spell-binding mystery fraught with danger, twists and perhaps blooming romance. The main character is Dana Newell who is a 911 dispatcher. She returns to the area where she grew up in the hopes of escaping a man bent on taking her back to be alone with him forever. What the sta

This latest novel in the Rock Harbor series rocks! Two stalkers – or is it the same guy? Well, Colleen certainly knows how to keep you guessing. I really enjoyed reading this mystery that kept me on the edge of my seat and turning the pages. The characters became my friends as they developed throughout the story – well, except for the bad guy, of course. I read this book during a heatwave and the cold, snowy landscape was refreshing! Great suspense. Recommended!

"Beneath Copper Falls" is a Christian suspense novel. It's the 6th novel in a series, but it's about Dana and Boone and so works as a stand-alone novel. The suspense is created by physical danger to a number of women. Dana's abusive ex-boyfriend followed her and is causing havoc. But then another woman dies, and it seems connected to an old murder investigation. Are the two cases connected? About halfway through, I realized from subtle clues where the book was heading, and then more obvious clue ...more

Colleen Coble has proven once again why she is Royalty in a big field of Christian Fiction with her forte of Romantic Suspense.

Beneath Copper Falls is an elegant and respectful look at the dangers of being in an abusive relationship. Particularly when the abuser is psychopathic enough to appear to everyone else but his victim that he’s an outstanding guy deserving of more than being labeled the villain. Unfortunately too often women end up with PTSD and/or other forms of trauma from being kept f

Beneath Copper Falls was an incredible book that was definitely Colleen Coble's style. It grips you from page one and pulls you further and further into the story the more you read.

Dana Newell is in a relationship with an abusive boyfriend. She leaves him and heads to the safety of her friends and her brother in Rock Harbor. She takes a job as a dispatcher there. While she is there, she decides to take some self defense classes with her brother's friend, Boone. Both Boone and Dana have painful

The return trip to Rock Harbor was well worth the wait! While the main focus is Dana's story, Bree is also very much involved. Bree and her beloved Samson (SAR dog) are back in action. Dana returns home to Rock Harbor to escape an abusive relationship. Dana meets Boone, who is also dealing with very traumatic events from his past. When she learns that Boone's sister may have been murdered by a serial killer, the similarities are eerily familiar to her own abuse. It seems Dana's ex has followed h ...more

This is such a great story to jump back into the old Rock Harbor books. This is the next book that takes place in the town where Coble introduced us to more than a decade ago. The story follows Dana and her interactions with coming back home to Rock Harbor where she grew up as well as trying to outrun her ex-boyfriend. There are a few girls that have mysteriously murdered in the past few years and no leads on who the man is behind the killings.

Dana pairs up with Boone, a man whose sister was on

Coble takes readers back to Rock Harbor, although those who are new to the series will find that this novel easily stands alone. The author is a master at romantic suspense, and although it's not terribly difficult to figure out the culprit fairly early on, it doesn't really matter because the suspenseful moments are exciting regardless. The romantic storyline is sweet and very encouraging, with a theme of looking at someone's heart rather than their outwa
