A new author for me, one I have been wanting to read for awhile. The first book in the series. There are romance and mystery. I like the plot of identical twins with completely different qualities. Eve has an outgoing personality, like to flirt with men and has been married 3 times and looking for another husband. Sunny is introvert, married and divorce, she has personality difficulties. I began to wonder about her as the slightest change immediately became a major factor.
The twins attend a fune

This first in a new series, was a well written, solid mystery. I love the idea of the main characters being twins. It's not something we see often.

Author June Shaw is off to a great start with the Twin Sisters Mysteries, and I'm very much looking forward to the second installment.

Don't let my short review (not my style) steer you away from reading A FATAL ROMANCE. I'm late getting this one written late (as I am with a few others). Please do give this delightful book a read!

I love the main characters, the identical twin sisters Sunny and Eve. Witnessing her oldest sister getting shot when she was 8 years old leaves Eve humming or even singing out loud Christmas songs whenever she finds herself in a situation that scares her. This leads to some funny situations....
The mystery was very good written with great characters. I hope the series will be continued.

I loved this story, the mix of mystery, humor and romance was balanced just right. Adult twins Sunny and Eve are almost identical in appearance, but their life experiences have shaped them into totally different personalities. Sunny added a lot of humor to the story as she investigated the murders of two of their clients. The mystery kept me guessing, and I was satisfied with the final reveal. Sunny’s tentative romance with Dave was sweet, and I hope to read more about them in the next story of ...more

I find that I am not a fan of the style of writing used by June Shaw. To me it is disconnected, fragmented and her characterizations just don't ring true. Living inside the head of the narrator, twin Sunny, is a disjointed experience. I don't care for first person narrative, but really good ones are hardly noticeable. The story had no flow and I kept getting jarred out of the story by strange phrasing. I had such high hopes for this series set in the bayou, written by someone who actually lives ...more

In A Fatal Romance, the first book in the Twin Sisters Mystery Series, author June Shaw weaves an intriguing cozy mystery tale that easily draws the reader into following twin sisters Sunny Taylor and Eve Vaughn, as they try to solve the murder of local resident Daria Snelling.

With two completely different personalities they have come together to start a home remodeling and renovation business.

I would like to thank NetGalley and Kensington Books for giving me the opportunity to read this which I voluntarily reviewed.
This is the first book in "A Twin Sisters Mystery" series. It is also the first book I've read by Ms Shaw.
I love cosy mysteries and this has all the elements a cosy should have.
The characters were quirky but believable. The twins are identical but have totally different personalities. Their mum was in a nursing home and some of her friends and their repartee had me gigglin

I just got done reading this wonderful story and what a ride I was on. There are so many twists and turns you can at the end trying to figure out who did what. Southern Louisiana was a nice setting and the twin sisters its a treat to read about. Did Daria push her husband or did Zane really trip like she said into the pond. When the ashes went flying some landed in Sunny's coat pocket which leads to her being a suspect along with the wife. A great story to keep a reader on their toes and glued t ...more

This is my first time to read a book from this author. I really like her creativity and how the story flowed so easily. This cozy mystery was a bit more serious than I am use to and I have to say I really enjoyed it. The characters were great and I loved the twins so much. The author did a great job of describing them and I found them to be enchanting. It can be very hard to figure out who is who when you are dealing with twins. I remember in high school there were a set of identical twin boys. ...more

A Fatal Romance is the debut book in June Shaw’s A Twin Sisters Mystery series and is the first book I’ve read by this author. This is a well-written cozy mystery with a good mix of quirky humor, colorful characters, romance, and an interesting mystery. The mystery kept me guessing until the final reveal. I’m looking forward to reading future installments in this series.

I love the unique premise of this novel and series. Identical twins with very different personalities should provide a multitude of plots and twists for future stories.

Eve is the more outgoing twin, while Sunny has a much more unique personality. She shies away from romance, and when she gets scared she hums and sings Christmas carols--which can be highly inappropriate and hilarious at the same time.

The supporting cast includes a group of gossipy senior citizens. They never leave the Home, but t

This is the first book I've read by this author. June Shaw writes an interesting cozy mystery involving identical twin sisters, Sunny and Eve.
Eve is the more outgoing sister, she has an outgoing personality and loves to flirt with the men. Sunny is a truly unique character.
When she's scared, she hums and sings Christmas Carols. Though it may not be appropriate, it does give the reader something to chuckle about.

A Fatal Romance is the first book in the Twin Sisters Mystery series by author June Shaw. This is the first book of Shaw's that I have read and obviously the first book I've read in this debut series.

The first thing that attracted me to A Fatal Romance was the setting of southern Louisiana. The twin sisters, Eve and Sunny live in the small town of Sugar Ledge were they run a small house remodel and repair firm.

I found A Fatal Romance to be a fun and lighthearted cozy mystery. Interesting story

Sisters

This is the story of twin sisters in Louisiana whose customer is killed. This was a highly entertaining book. The book kept my attention throughout and the killer was a total surprise to me. I could totally identify with the sisters. Looking forward to reading the next one in this series. I highly recommend this book.

Entertaining and engaging cozy mystery. Our protagonist is a twin. She has mental issues relating to a past experience that cause her to hum or sing Christmas songs when frightened. I am wondering if there will be another tale about these sisters. The publisher provided a copy via NetGalley for my review.

A Fatal Romance has the market on quirky characters for a cozy mystery. In fact, to properly review this book, I really need to separate it into two parts: the mystery/story and the characters.

The mystery is nicely constructed and starts us off right in the middle of things with a funeral gone wrong. The action isn’t edge-of-your-seat per se but it stays steady throughout, something new always around the corner to keep interest high. One crime turns into two turns into three turns into … etc. An

A Fatal Romance is a promising start to a new cozy mystery series by author June Shaw. This was the first book I have read by this author and I found it to be enjoyable. The story centers around Sunny and Eve, identical twin sisters who have very different personalities. The characters are quirky, likeable and fairly well developed for the first book in a series. The girls mother lives in a nursing facility and has a fun, quirky group of friends that round out the cast nicely. I liked that while ...more

I have mixed feelings about this book. It is a cozy and I love cozies. I was also intrigued by the twins, Sunny and Eve. The story was fun, taking place in Louisiana (where I have never been). My problem was mainly with the two main characters. Sunny is so neurotic and she doesn't appear to try to change. She continually worries about her sister Eve and almost smothers her. Now I get that she lost another sister and this has been the cause of many of her problems. Eve on the other hand is very s ...more

Overall I liked the story, a mystery with a bit of romance. I expected partnership between two identical twin sisters, on the contrary we read of Eve, naive and frolic around and Sunny more neurotic at every new page also if she was a original and interesting character .

Twins often seem to have some sort of telepathy or empathy that other siblings or best friends lack. Eve and Sunny demonstrate that but something is messing with Sunny's powers. They are a little bit off. It could be the stress if trying to establish a nontraditional construction and renovation company, perhaps it is the loss of her favorite silk jacket to the police. Or is it the security guy, Dave, who is setting off alarms in her body?
Sometimes we fail to notice what is hidden right in front

I was intrigued by the concept of this book because I don't recall there ever being twins in a cozy series. There may be, but I've not read one!

The characters were quirky and annoying and the twin sisters were very different (as most twins usually are). Sunny has some issues and I felt like she was all over the place with her peculiarities. At first it was amusing that she sang Christmas carols when nervous (and we find out why about halfway through the book) but then it became a little annoying
