Book Two

Tech geek and former soldier, Ghared Timms, can’t believe his best friend and brother in battle, Deo Lazitter, is still alive. He’d been there when the news of the man’s death had been announced. He’d held Deo’s sister, Darina, in his arms as they’d both lamented. He’d been missing his buddy for years.

Now a former associate of the late Mikale Warres has produced Deo’s dog tags and claims to have been working undercover with Deo inside Warres’s organization. Ghared promises to find Deo no matter what it takes.

Even if it means going undercover himself.

Warres’s step-sister, Sasha Boisette, is looking for an ally. She can’t bring down an entire organization obsessed with continuing Mikale’s mission, especially when that organization is expecting her to lead them. When a new recruit shows up at headquarters, however, he may be just the man she needs.

If she can trust him.

Staying protected is hard when your heart wants to risk it all.

Christine DePetrillo can often be found hugging trees, conversing with dragonflies, and walking barefoot through sun-warmed soil. She finds joy in listening to the wind, bathing in moonlight, and breathing in the fragrances of things that bloom. If she had her way, the sky would be the only roof over her head.

Her love of nature seeps into every story she tells. As does her obsession with bearded mountain men who build, often smell like sawdust, and know how to cherish the women they love. Today she writes tales meant to make you laugh, maybe make you sweat, and definitely make you believe in the power of love.

She lives in Vermont with her husband and cat who defend her fiercely from all evils.

Wow! I loved Ghared in the first Shielded series book, Safe, so I was very excited to see he was getting his own book. Now I love him even more!!!

In the year 2025 the world is slowly recovering from a series of terrible events. First everything was brought to a standstill by the loss of electricity worldwide, this caused terrible fighting to breakout, then a madman unleashed a horrific virus, killing many. Now the evil scientist has been killed and the city of Boston is leading the reconstruction of this new world. Ghared Timms is one of the people leading the recovery. He is a tough tattooed soldier but he is fiercely protective of the few people he allows into his inner circle. When he finds out that his best friend did not die in the fighting but may actually be held at the headquarters of the evil man who created the virus, he sets out to find him. He goes undercover, determined to find Deo, stop of the organization for good, and kill its new leader, Sasha Boisette. Sasha does not want to be the leader of a group of bad guys but she isn't sure how to extract herself without getting killed. Ghared doesn't trust easily and Sasha has been lied to her whole life but they will have to learn to trust each other, with their lives and possibly their hearts as they fight to save Deo and the new society slowly emerging.

I loved this book! Ghared and Sasha had fantastic chemistry, right from the start. I loved how Sasha, who was pretty passive at the beginning of the story, found her strength as the book progressed. While it is obviously set in the future (with cool flying pods and a tablet that can heal wounds) it is truly a romance with a lot of action thrown in. Highly recommended! I can't wait for the next one!!
