No one knows who The Leverager is, or if they do, they keep his identity a closely guarded secret. You ask to him to do a favor, any favor and he’ll do it, for a price in return of course.
He’s exclusive; he meets the needs of his clients one at a time. They say his price is different according to each client, sometimes it’s money, sometimes it’s trade secrets and sometimes it’s a favor that you’ll have to repay in the future.
The price is always extortionate—when you make a deal with the devil it always is. And I was willing to pay.
I've lived thousands of moments and I've been to thousands of places crafted by the soul crushing and soul mending words of thousands of authors. (Metaphorically raises glass of gin and tonic), here's to hoping I've created one thousandth of a moment of life for you ...
This was definitely an interesting book. Loved the two main characters, separate then together they definitely clicked. Great writing Enjoyed the flow of story & loved the ending.
This book is actually one of the few books ever sofar where I think it feels as if I have been reading the movie version. It feels like the author had so much more planned and did not have the space and time to leave it inside just one book. It was like there had been written more and someone said "you need to cut stuff or it gets to long". #mistake ... this book is a 4 star read - give me back the missing parts and it is a 5 star - if you need - make it two books - for once I would not care. I can almost point blindly to the chapters where stuff seems to have been taken out after writing it.
Loved the subject - it reminded me of a sweeter version of the 1980s series stingray ...
I absolutely love this author. If I’m looking for a complex and mind blowing read this is one of those authors I turn to. This story was full of suspense, grit, angst, betrayal, secrets and twists and the sex was crazy good. CL has an intricate writing style who isn’t afraid to go out the “normal realm of romance”.
Not only were the two main characters Emerson and Leverager very developed and enjoyable so were the side characters Jarek, Serv, Mikhail and Laurina. There is so much mystery behind Emerson’s character and the tragic events that she suffered through but what I enjoyed most was how the author makes this character strong and resilient. Once I read and understood about that fateful night I immediately was drawn to her. She’s scared and feels alone in this world and only wants to move on in life at any costs. Her determination puts her in the path of the Leverager.
Gosh the Leverager is so elusive yet intriguing and attractive. He comes across as unattached but it’s the business he’s in that makes him that way. If you come to him for help you better expect a pay back of great magnitude. Yet Emerson sets something off inside him, something that he’s never experienced before. He’s a very self-controlled person and very dedicated to his job but with Emerson his priorities and focus in life change.
Emerson and Leverager are so good together. Emerson and Leverager are so good together, the author created these 2 characters knowing the lives they led only made their connection more intense. Despite all the secrets, betrayals and danger the characters grow in their new found relationship. I enjoyed the ups and downs and twists and turns in this book. It kept me glued to this story from start to finish. I really recommend this book to anyone who loves a good mind blowing read with suspense, twists and turns and romance in the most unlikely circumstances.
I can honestly say that I've read every book by this author, and LOVED every one of them to boot, but with each new book, her talented writing style just gets better and better in my eyes. The Leverager was a story that kept my heart racing cover to cover, as it was full of suspense, with big f-bomb worthy moments around every corner, and trust me, did I drop loud ones. If you would like a description, just read the blurb, because this is one story that has twists and turns every which way from Sunday, so in order to keep it pure for everyone who reads it, I'm not giving up anything! The plot was fast paced, and highly original, with great character development. C.L. Masonite is absolutely evolving into a brilliant author with her outside the box stories, which has me super excited, and a tad impatient, to see what she comes up with next! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
This was my first book from C.L. Masonite. The ONLY reason I didn't give this book 5 stars was because I was super confused about where it was based. The terms used through most of it were European, but then there was American mixed in, so it kind of made it hard for me to grasp where it was. Other than that, this story and the premise were awesome, this story kept me reading and reading, and I didn't want to put it down. It was raw, it was gritty, it was exciting. It is told in alternating views.
What an absolutely brilliantly written book. This is the first time I have read anything from this author and I was simply blown away. The story line felt unique and the characters were on point; they were mysteriously interesting and they alone made me want to read more and more. Yes there is a romance in there, but the story is so much more; the author touched on some really sensitive subjects whilst not actually going into graphic detail, but you could feel the weight of the issues, and the characters determination to rebuild and move on was palpable. This book made me feel everything the characters did, I laughed and cried, I felt betrayed and used, I hurt and I healed. The overall reading experience left me satisfied but also wanting more, I did have my suspicions about certain characters and the ending; although I was horrified that someone could do such a thing I wasn’t completely surprised.
Overall this is a fantastic read and I will certainly be keeping my eye out for more works from this author. #B2B Lesley
DNF--this book seemed promising, and maybe if I had hung on it would have picked up, but I quit at 20%. You get a small glimpse of The Leverager in the preface, and then again the author revisits that setup briefly. But nearly all the story to this point was about the female MC, Emerson. And while the mystery of her story seemed promising, I found myself somewhat confused at the timeline (passages of time with no sense at how long its been), parts of the backstory were told in a very matter-of-fact way with no real development, or hook for the reader. The characters seem underdeveloped. It just didn't do it for me.
Wow, I’ve got to say, this book was way better than I expected it to be. The blurb made me interested, but because of the manly man on the cover, I was afraid it might just have a tiny bit too much romance going on for me. Thankfully, that wasn’t the case at all! It had a perfect amount of romance, a kind of romance I hadn’t read before, and plenty of suspense. The fantastic plot really made me want to keep reading to see how everything would unfold. I also loved the writing style. Great book! I definitely recommend it.
This is the first book I've read from this author. Couldn't put it down and read it in one day. Unusual story with many twists turns. It has triggers but a very satisfying ending. I hope this will be a series as I would love to know more about Sev, Mikhail and Barak.
This is an amazing story, which is well written, with a great plot, and flows seamlessly. Beware of triggers if this storyline will affect you while reading! Loved the main characters that are both haunted by their pasts, and learning to face their fears and finally start to heal. This storyline has mystery, healing, redemption, romance, and is a hot emotional read, which had me on tenterhooks throughout. Wonderful work, and I highly recommend this author for all readers, you will not be disappointed! I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book!
Five stars isn't enough! This author gets better with every piece! Honestly, when it was at 90 percent I was sad because I didn't want it to end. Great writing style, great dialogue and great suspense. It also brought me to tears at some point because I was so invested in the characters and that really isn't an easy feat. I am so excited for her next book!
