This was a short quick read that I wished was longer. I felt that this book was missing a lot what each character looks like was one of them. Greg and Kyle are best friends and Greg is worried about Kyle is life is spiraling out of control. Greg a nice guy with a self-esteem problem. I wanted to know why and if they are best friends why are they keeping secrets from each other. The book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling.

Switch by L.M. Langley

This is the first time I've read a book written by L.M. Langley, the writing was very good, easy to read and the story flowed very well. For a book that way only 22 pages it was an enjoyable read.

This story is about 2 best friends Greg and Kyle, both of them have secrets that they haven't shared with one another and for some reason they seem to each hold back a small piece of themselves from the other. Their friendship is important to both of them and Kyle will do anything for Greg, all wants is for Greg to be happy and safe because sometimes Greg doesn't make the best decisions.

Greg ask Kyle to go out for a evening of fun and Kyle see's something he didn't expect and they finally have a the conversation they were meant to have.

Switch is a short m/m romance novel, and I definitely will go check out L.M. Langley's other books as her writing did not disappoint me at all.

Cute friends-to-lovers.
It was a bit predictable and way too short, but I had fun, and that's what matters.

3.5 Stars. I really want half stars on here.
This is a short story with so much potential, it just needed to be longer and edited more tightly. Very sweet. Very cute, with a decent message - although, once again, longer would have been better.
Friends discovering something more about one another. I can't say anything more or it takes the wind out of the sails of the story.
Oh, and it's also free.

4/5 Star Feel-Good M/M Romance.

I haven’t read many books by L.M. Langley, but I’m always surprised when I pick up a new book. I love the way she describes her characters. She makes it extremely easy to connect with them and understand them even in short stories. This book was only 22 pages, but I closed it knowing that page 22 wasn’t the end of the story for Greg and Kyle.

And speaking of Greg and Kyle, these two characters had so much chemistry! Right from the beginning, their interactions had that underlying familiarity that only comes with time. I knew that they had a really solid friendship between them and that made the prospect of a relationship a lot more exciting.

The only reason I couldn’t give this book 5 stars is because I think it could have used a little bit more elaboration in some areas and I would have enjoyed getting a little further into Greg and Kyle’s story before the end of the book. Overall, it was still a really good book and I would definitely read it again. If you’re looking for a short m/m romance, then I would recommend that you add this one to your shelf!

Well, this was rather peculiar. The beginning gave me some problems as I really didn't like Greg very much. The second half was nice and even Greg grew on me, although the happy ending came a bit too fast. Anyway - I'll stick to perhaps 3.5 stars.

Greg is starting to worry about his friend Kyle, who seems to have made a habit of sleeping with a different man every night. He doesn't want him to get hurt, and he doesn't want Kyle to hurt himself by drinking too much and getting into trouble. Usually when things get like this, Greg tries to help Kyle get back on his feet. Now, Kyle is rejecting his help and seems to be hiding something. If this secret got out, it could change both of their lives forever. If Kyle continues to be secretive, their relationship could be permanently damaged.

For a short novella, this had a lot of different story elements. I don't want to spoil anything, but the secret was definitely interesting to find out.

There was even a bit of character development in this 30-page novel, as the two boys learn things about each other that they had never known before.

My only true complaint was that the novel was so short! This was truly an interesting storyline that I would have liked to see expanded upon, but instead, it is limited by the number of pages. I would have liked to learn more about Greg and Kyle's relationship before these events, and how it changed after they occurred.

I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a short read that will draw them in and tell a fun tale.

A lot happens in this short book, but i dont know what to think about it. The many twists where a little unnatural for me. Maybe if the book was longer, with more character and relationship development, this story would sound more believable?

However this was a realy easy read and i needed it after a long day of studying.

Greg and Kyle both have a secret, and it isn't just about having feelings for each other.

A cute, short read, though I wish it could've been longer, and it felt a bit rushed towards the end.

“He was totally normal and super nice, and like, ridiculously hot.”

Florida author L.M. (Lina) Langley is a first-generation immigrant. Though her biographical data offered suggests that ‘her past is haunted by spies, thieves, tyrants, and murderers’, she is more than capable of writing brief but pungent short novellas that ring of solid romantic values.

Lina quickly dips us into her characters she has created before the story per se begins – ‘I try not to make it a habit to stay up after midnight on a work night, but I can’t leave Kyle to his own devices when he has a date. It’s fine when he’s on the prowl — he can look after himself — but he’s a real mess when he has to actually go out with anyone. He always ends up calling me after getting too drunk or being too aggressive or something. I’m drifting off to sleep on the sofa when my phone pings and my heart drops in my chest. It’s always something. I don’t get it at all. Kyle’s a good-looking guy and he looks after himself. My experience with men, limited as it has been, has always been easier than my experience with women. I would have thought that someone like Kyle would have no issues getting with someone— and quickly. But then, what do I know? I’m all about hook-ups nowadays, too. And it’s not like it’s on purpose, either— it’s never on purpose. But these girls, I don’t know, they’re fun at first, and then they’re not fun; they’re just boring or clingy and I’m sitting there talking to them about their family or whatever and wondering when they’re going to go away. Something has to be wrong with me, because there’s nothing wrong with them. They’re all perfectly nice people that are usually kind of out of my league. It’s different with the men. Not because they aren’t out of my league – literally every single man I’ve ever brought home is out of my league – but I’m not interested in having a relationship with a man. It’s too complicated. I’ve watched my best friend be gay for the better part of my life and I definitely don’t want any part in that. Dude’s life is hard. The fact that I’ve been with men, it’s not really something I bring up to Kyle. He doesn’t need to know that. Besides, I don’t want to make things weird between us.”

Coming out situations are well covered in this little book. The synopsis opens the door – ‘Greg is worried about his best friend Kyle. Kyle's life seems to be spiraling out of control. Greg doesn't mind picking up the pieces, but his normally smart, ambitious and good-looking friend seems more distracted than usual after his last break-up. And he's starting to get annoyed at Greg trying to lend him a hand. What Greg doesn't realize is that Kyle is keeping something from him... and it could change both of their lives forever. .’

Lina grows with each book, paying more and more attention to careful character development while not letting down on the erotica side. She’s carving her niche, even in this short, early work.

Switch is the second free novella I've read from Lina Langley, after meeting her through Twitter's #LGBTWIP event. It was a lovely little friends-to-lovers read.

In this slice-of-life novella, the hard working, "if I keep my head down, nothing bad will happen, right?" Greg worries for Kyle, his best friend. Kyle has not kept his head down, so to speak, since he came out as gay years ago. In the intervening years of their friendship, Greg has watched Kyle get burned by homophobia and an abusive lover alike. The difficult times are difficult enough that when Greg figures out he's also gay, he shuts the closet door, refusing to tell Kyle. But then Kyle starts acting strangely, and Greg knows something's gotta give.

While my last Langley read, Your Majesty, was sweet and funny, Switch is more grit and angst. Some of the mentions of homophobia swung very close to home. Kyle is careful to limit how many times he mentions his partners in conversation and doesn't bring them to small parties, out of fear of being too "in your face" among his assumed straight friends. I've literally done that and sometimes still do. While I didn't find most of the storytelling elements truly remarkable, Langley hit every beat soundly. Both Greg and Kyle are authentic, relatable characters, the plot was clear & nicely arched, and I was invested enough in the setting and characters that I didn't care I could see the ending twist from pages away. To eliminate any confusion from the title, Switch is the name of a drag queen bar, and there's no sex or s/D play. Like in Your Majesty, Switch halts sex to further verbally discuss feelings, trauma, and growth.

While Langley tells a compelling tale in the page space, like other reviewers, I wouldn't have minded if Switch was longer. Kyle felt uncomfortable being loudly gay in Greg's space, and Greg felt uncomfortable coming out to Kyle: this failure of being a safe space for each other, despite years of friendship, is interesting to me. It's a tension not quite resolved by the end.

The ending is still happy though, and Switch is a solid romance read I recommend to anyone who likes M/M friends-to-lovers angst. It's a good, gay time.

Short... and... I got nothing.

The characters are two dimensional and juvenile. Once the long-term friendship was established I felt the continuous text messaging redundant. It's a short story, but that's no excuse for it to be so uneventful, uninspiring. These guys just revealed their love for each other with not a firework in sight. One star for the effort, one for the potential and one for that lovely cover! I wouldn't be opposed to reading an expanded version. Tim could make it interesting!

Switch by L. M. Langley. This is a short sweet m/m friends to more story. I really enjoyed this short story. I would love to read a story like this only longer. A nice, short story that I read in one sitting. Two good friends, both with secrets to reveal-- will the reveal change their relationship forever? For a short story, there is a lot crammed in to a few pages. It left me with a lot of questions as to the author's thoughts in going the direction she went. Characters would have benefited from more backstory.

A delightful read! Greg and Kyle are truly relatable characters, especially for those of us in the lgbt community who have been hopelessly in love with or crushed on someone whom we thought was straight. I wish we'd gotten to see more of their story. Twenty two pages wasn't nearly enough!

I received a copy of this from the author.

I loved this short story about two friends who discover their feelings for each other...as well as a side of one of them that had been hidden for you.

A sweet romance with a great HEA.

With the title I thought I was getting a sexy, BDSM type story. I was wrong.
Instead, I got an excellent, and sweet, friends to lovers. The sexiest thing that happens is one chaste kiss, but if you like short and sweet, with a few sparkles, this is a winner.

Short and pretty and very well written. Even in such few pages and with some strange turns, Ms. Langley manages to captivate you, engage you and believe the story she is telling you. I only wish this was much longer.

Short and sweet👬💕

Enjoyable, short enough to finish during a work break or commute. Just a sweet tale of two guy friends revealing their true selves and desires. No steamy scenes, but a positive end.

4.5⭐️ read

It was so sweet. The only reason I didn’t give it five stars was because I wished it was longer. I honestly wish. Their friendship and relationship as well as being inside of the drag community would have been an amazing and insightful story.
